🍳egg benny
🌟4.2/5
a must have! the base is a crispy potato rosti that is paired with a savoury chili bacon jam, making it a pleasant change from your regular eggs benny. the yuzu hollandaise especially cuts through the richness that usually weighs down a lot of bennys, which was a pleasant surprise. the only minor downside is that the ginger braised pork belly wasn't as tender as hoped, but that isn't to say it wasn't thick and tasty all the same😋

🍄miso mushroom udon alfredo
🌟3.7/5
the umami from creamy garlic miso and muchroom makes this a very unique yet comforting brunch dish. though i did wish that the miso flavor was stronger, the flavors were more than sufficient from every other player on the plate. being an alfredo lover, i couldn't help but love thisdishand its on the to-eat list for next time we come back!

went there for the first time to see the hype and wow i was not disappointed.
the overall quality was so consistent with all the meals we ordered.
the crab omelette was probably my favouritedishalong with the mushroom pasta. the egg for the crab omelette was so fluffy and when matched with the flaky croissant and the spicy mayo the flavours worked so well together!
the mushroom pasta wasn’t overpowered with mushrooms either which made it super enjoyable and was delicious!
only thing i would say was the crispy pork or the “egg benny” was not up to expectations as the portion of the plate was really minimal and most of the meat contained fat, nor was it really that crispy at all.

when covid brunch lines take the same amount of waiting time as pre-covid 🤦‍♀️

food:
🍔 crispy chicken hot sauce: gochujang marinated chicken, black sesame mayo, sweet pickle roots veg, fried shallot, cabbage and coriander slaw on charcoal bun served with chips and seaweed aioli ($21.00)
🍳 crabmeat scramble: crabmeat scramble, coriander, spring onion, fried shallot, red chilli, sriracha mayo, chilli oil served with croissant ($22.00)
🍝 linguini mushroom: seasonal mushroom in garlic miso butter, linguini pasta, spinach, bonito, edamame, seaweed, parmesan, pickled ginger, onsen egg ($20.00)

review:
i loved humble rays' crispy chicken burger and their lightly toasted buns which brought me to new crunchy dreamy heights. the slaw was also light enough to cut through the heaviness of the fried chicken but the chips were a bit lacklustre...
chilli scrambled eggs were actually spicy and had that burning-in-your mouth sensation. you could also taste the crab through the scramble which was so pleasant and made thedishvery interesting!!
my least favourite was the linguini. for us, there was too much cream which became overbearing quite fast. luckily we split between 3 - that it didn't seem too bad. however i could see myself struggling to finish thisdishby myself... even when i adore mushroom so much!

service was excellent. friendly faces, and an organisation with covid precautions front and centre. they were also attentive (i was able to flag them down for more water, extra utensils, the bill), which is key when they focussed on table service to limit contact.

with floor to ceiling windows, the interior is gorgeous. with ample space inside (hello 1.5m rule), you really feel as though you get the privacy but around people. let's get back to brunches melbourne!

excited to finally to dine-in for first time since covid lockdowns, so i wanted to choose a brunch place with a high rating on zomato. place was cute and looked presentable and clean, food was presented nicely. looked at the menu (they need to update the menu on here) and the crab chilli scramble caught my attention, especially because it was meant to be served with a croissant (literally the only few dishes with an image & always excited to try something different), except it came out with toast... i did not get informed, had i been informed i would've requested for a differentdishbefore it was made with no issues. maybe it was the fact that eggs covered the toast almost completely that i had only remembered what i actually ordered (croissant) or that i was hungry, but i didn't want to ask for a refund/exchange since i already ate half of it by the time i realised. i brought it up, and asked if interpreted the item incorrectly when i went to pay for the food or if they just ran out. apparently they were out an over an hour ago. she apologised that noone informed me, and i still paid in full. was a bummer because in terms of flavour, both the eggs and burgers were okay. definitely would of tasted much better with a croissant, crab taste was subtle. chips were soft and plain. burger is missing something in terms of flavour, maybe some onions? i work in the hospitality industry as both a waitress and a kitchen hand, so this is more about the basics of customer service 😕 the latte was nice though.

one of my favourite cafes in melbourne, humble rays, has a dedicated takeaway and delivery menu that is filled with inventive and delicious dishes. we tried the duck congee, salmon super salad and coco waffle, and it was a feast!

the duck congee was a comforting and hearty dish, with a consistency that was much denser than an authentic congee. the mushrooms added an earthy umami flavour, and the confit pulled duck leg was super tender. a bit more seasoning and it would have been perfect.

the salmon super salad was bursting with clean and fresh flavours, and the salmon was perfectly cooked. the crunch from the assorted veggies gave thisdishan excellent mouthfeel, and this was without a doubt, clean eating at its finest.

anotherdishthat was executed with flair was the coco waffle. the hk egg waffle was light and airy, with a crisped exterior, and when combined with the nutty and earthy black sesame ice cream, deeply savoury salted egg yolk anglaise and slightly sweet candied chestnuts, this was a dream to eat.

the coffees never fail us here, and i also love the matcha latte and taro latte. humble rays always deliver the goods and i can’t wait to go back for more.

absolute perfection! everydishwe tried out felt like it had been meticulously thought through and balanced so that all the flavours matched, every aspect of every plate was cooked to just the right amount. the meals were a little pricey but no more than any other brunch cafe.

when we arrived there was a fairly big line outside and you can understand why when you eat their food - absolutely amazing stuff and i cannot recommend it enough!

ordered: roasted pumpkin with broccolini/beans/ vinaigrette ($19.50) and salmon super salad ($20.50). i loved the pumpkin dish, it was simple but the veggies were all cooked perfectly. the broccolini was grilled giving thedisha nuttiness and the roasted pumpkin worked perfectly with its sweet starchiness. the salmondishalso looked bomb. this is a really nice and bright cafe with lots of seating available so good for large groups. also free coffee refills... need i say more?

finally, a place in melbourne where the food is worth the wait! service is excellent and their scrambled eggs are superb.

humble rays has become one of my favourite brunch/lunch spots - arrive before 11am if you can to avoid longer queues.

my favouritedishis the chicken hot sauce burger, though their duck congee is a strong contender.

humble rays is one of melbourne's most popular brunch destinations and it definitely lives up to all expectations.

lucky my friend and i visited early, around 9.30am on a saturday and there was no line which was great. it got busy quickly, but despite that, the food was always delivered quickly and staff remained focussed on excellent service. the ambience is very light, bright and modern.

i ordered the pannacotta granola which i'd rate a 5/5 - delicious. the panacotta itself had that perfect creamy texture with the wobble. i also really liked the chai flavour - i've never tried that in a pannacotta before so that was quite unique to me. the granola was great, very crunchy and a good portion size served with lots of fruit.

the menu is so unique - basically everydishappealed to me! the crab meat scramble seems to be the most populardishhere so i'll definitely be back for that.

keep up the great work!

one of melbourne’s most famous cafes - humble rays is so popular you can always expect to wait at least 30 minutes in queue just to get inside. but it’s well worth the wait!

despite how busy it was, the staff are incredibly patient and friendly, and exceptional service is maintained.

the menu here is a fusion of thai flavours with melbourne brunch, and there’s seriously nothing you can go wrong with on the menu.

crab meat scramble - humble ray’s most iconic dish! this is definitely a must order when you’re here, and my absolute favourite. the scrambled eggs are cooked so well, creamy yet fluffy, with asian flavours and herbs. i loved the combination of sriracha mayo and i think it worked really well with the eggs and the croissant. so delicious!

duck congee - thisdishis perfect for winter (although the weather is getting warmer now). the congee was very light, and the duck was tender and flavourful. i loved the crispy seasoned shiitake mushrooms which added a surprising crunch to the dish.

coco waffle - my favourite dessert! thisdishcombines all my favourite flavours into one! the egg waffle is so crispy yet so light and fluffy on the inside. the combination of coconut and sesame work so well together, and thisdishis so heavenly!

thai tea bingsu - you really can’t go wrong with bingsu, and humble rays does it well. it’s light and refreshing, and a strong thai tea flavour. the toppings are actually in the middle, underneath the shaved ice!

this cafe is definitely worth visiting! i definitely need to come back soon to try the rest of the menu!

second time coming here, lined up for about 7 minutes. first time was a year and half ago. had the crab omelette and remembered that thisdishneeded to come to sydney. second time coming back i tried the recommended pork belly. also had a chance to meet the thai chef lady who came up with the dishes. lovely presentation, my pork belly was cooked really nice but the pork belly skin could have been crispier. will definitely come again to try something else !!!!

every time i visit melbourne i always make a stop at humble rays for the best eggs i've ever had - crab meat scrambles. it comes on a buttery flakey croissant and garnished with crunchy deep fried shallots and chilli that tantalises your taste buds. the hero of thedishis the fluffy eggs that is cooked perfectly with a soft and velvety texture. theres generous amounts of crab meat spread through out the scramble. you can taste the sweetness and the freshness of the crab meat which is well balanced with the other elements of thedishand not overpowering the rich buttery and egginess of the scramble. the saracha mayo is perfect for those who enjoy a little spicy kick. you won't want to stop after tasting your first mouthful! luckily the very generous portions will leave you happily satisfied.

best brunch i have ever had in my life, not kidding. so we line there for a bit long time about 40 minutes, but it actually worth! we ordered one and .
🦀 for the the croissant is crispy and crunchy, the scrambled egg in there is soft, the crab meat is real, and there are a lot i can say. the sauce on thedishtaste like something “curry mustard” sauce. one of that was bit spicy, one of that sauce was ok, you can chose the flavour you like to dip with.
🍓 for the the name sounds pretty already, when thedishcome up i just want to say “omg!”. it was two layers of french toast with cream cheese in the middle, on the top there is one huge ice-cream and decorated with white fairy floss. there are several of berries and fruit on the side, looks health and tasty. actually tasty😆

[for drink] we ordered and .
taste like the good latte which we normally drink.
is a type of japanese tea with milk, so kinds of a “milk tea”. taste sweet but not that sweet... i know that’s conflict but i don’t know what else to say. oh tasty, right!

so this meal i can say is the besttttttt brunch i have in melbourne!
😍 love it
