humble rays

as this is on so many must try lists in melbourne it was somewhere we had to go. it’s so popular there’s usually a line to get in, always a good sign. we didn’t have to wait very long for a table, the menu and ordering is through an app which is convenient. varied menu with lots of different options from traditional to more creative choices. the chillicrabscramble something i’d heard was a must try and did not disappoint, my partner got the big breakfast which other than the bread which was very hard as it had been toasted, everything was delicious. i didn’t enjoy the iced thai milk tea but i like everything very sweet so that may just be my personal taste. definitely somewhere to try if you’re in melbourne!

we arrived on a saturday afternoon, around 12 and the line was massive. round 6-7 groups were waiting before us. it took around 20min for us to get a table, which is still quick for me considering the long line.
blue is the main color for the shop, looks really fresh and modern. items in menu are fusion asian. we orderedcrabscrambled egg and french toast forever. the serving was huge and the decoration is really impressive.

scrambled egg was creamy and delicious, well-combined with siracha mayo. crossant is my favorite so cant go wrong with that.

french toast is stuffed with cream cheese, served with generous amount of fresh fruit: fig, berries, banana and grapes.

we were so full that we couldnt finish the toast but it was a really good brunch, totally worth it.
the only drawback is the long wait, the line was the same after we finished which was around 2. if you dont mind the long wait, i highly recommend this place

staff were quick, efficient and polite. they got us seated quickly, and attentive to get our order soon after.

i had the matcha latte which was silky and not too sweet, and balanced with the bitterness of matcha.

i also ordered thecrabmeat scramble. i enjoyed the scrambled eggs on croissant with the hints of chilli. however, i couldn't really see thecrabmeat or taste much of it. overall, still an enjoyable dish.

i would still be interested to try the other dishes.

humble rays is one of best brunch spots in melbourne. come here early as the line outside can get pretty long after 11am on weekends. would highly recommend dining inside the gorgeous glow of eggshell blue and mint for the full experience. some of my personal favourites are french toast forever, belly dancing,crabmeat scramble and egg benny. portion sizes here reflects chef tinee's goal in making sure everyone leaves well fed and very well priced considering the quality. hats off to the recruiter for always seem to be hiring quality staffs that served us with a smile no matter how busy it gets here.

this amazing brunch lights up the rainy saturday. i ordered thecrabmeat scramble and my friend had the pulled beef burger. i have to say both of them were so good! the red pepper and the sauce by the side were perfect for chilli lovers. the serving was generous, but i had finished it lol. definitely will be back again!

delicious options with a japanese/asian twist to some of the breakfast/brunch items and fantastic coffee. i had thecrabmeat scramble - delicious and generous in serving - possibly enough for two. definitely be prepared to queue up for a table during brunch/lunch hour.

i keep coming back here for thecrabmeat scrambled eggs. i've also tried a few of the other dishes such as pork belly and the food is consistently delicious so i can understand why there are always queues out the door. don't let that deter you though the food and drinks are well worth the wait!!! coffee is excellent :)

this place is easily one of the most delightful brunch places in melbourne. there might be a bit of a wait to get in but it is totally worth it. some of the highlights are thecrabmeat scramble, pulled pork benny and the skookie, which are delicious and extremely creative. their matcha is also top quality and very authentic. the service is also excellent especially in comparison to many of the other places in melbourne. highly recommend!

went there for the first time to see the hype and wow i was not disappointed.
the overall quality was so consistent with all the meals we ordered.
thecrabomelette was probably my favourite dish along with the mushroom pasta. the egg for thecrabomelette was so fluffy and when matched with the flaky croissant and the spicy mayo the flavours worked so well together!
the mushroom pasta wasn’t overpowered with mushrooms either which made it super enjoyable and was delicious!
only thing i would say was the crispy pork or the “egg benny” was not up to expectations as the portion of the plate was really minimal and most of the meat contained fat, nor was it really that crispy at all.

loved the food. i had the eggs benny and hubby had thecrabdish. both were pretty good. love the atmosphere as well.

you know a place is good when people have lined up to get a table. the food was well worth the wait. we ordered the red velvet skookie, scrambled chillicraband pork belly - all were scrumptious!

went today and ordered thecrabmeat scrambled over croissant with my boyfriend ordering the same plus a poached egg. they ran out of croissants and replaced it with sourdough instand. it took over 30 mins for the food to come (its tuesday at 2.30pm it wasnt busy. and the couple before us ate and left before we even got our coffees) and it was lukewarm and my partner said his poached egg was cold like it was sitting on the bench for ages. disappointing.

i’ve brought family and friends here many times, recommend to friends who were visiting melbourne and every single one of them loved their duck congee andcrabmeat scramble!

their food quality is superb, very consistent and delicious. i can never get sick of brunching here even though i always order the 3 same things!😂 great selection of drinks- my friends and my dad loooove their coffee, but i’m not really a coffee drinker (i know its illegal not to be in melb😭) but hey their hojicha / thai milk tea is really good too! service here is great even though cafe is very busy.

one thing though, they always have a massive queue and i don’t think they take bookings, so get there real early!!!
