real tacos!. it's nice to know that there is a real tacoplaceon the north side of town. i used to travel to mexico quite a bit and so believe me when i say this is about as real as it gets. theplaceand the food is not fancy at all and unlike big truck with its rude, uppity staff and owners, it has no pretentions. hugo's is a simpleplacewith nice people serving good, cheap food. i recommend the carne asada and the cochinita tacos. delish!

this is my family's favoriteplacefor mexican food. we usually get the tacos, beans (steamed) and fluffy rice. i also love the quesadilla s. reasonable prices. good food. tortillas are great, warmed on grill with your choice of meats. the carrots, jalapeños and onions are an added treat.

no good.. thisplaceisn't that great at all. if you want real comida mexicana, drive down to paco's on the south side. hugo's is gross, their meats sit in grease and taste like crap. thisplaceis joke.

holy taco. i ordered one of every meat option, even the special with bacon. yes, for your pleasure i alone tried every meat taco that they had to offer....

holy cow, apparently my home state has done a great disservice to tacos as well as the whole culture, because this was amazing!!!!!!! you could taste each and every meat offering, on top of the toppings and salsas.
super friendly staff, which will absolutely bring me back over and over again.

please give thisplacea try, if you want traditional tacos. no frills. just taste.

very...mexican. theplacewas full of mexican laborers when i arrived. don't come here looking for atmosphere, you get picnic tables, no decor, and hand drawn signs. the cashier does know english, but the cooks don't, so when they call out your number you should know the 01-99 numbers in spanish.
the food was pretty good, and inexpensive. the specials are around five dollars but the drinks are a bit inflated in price as most restaurants do. a bottle of jarritos will cost you double of what you pay in the supermarket. they do have horchata, piña (pineapple) and usually jamaica (hibiscus) beverages as well. there's limited amount of hot sauces available, tomatillo and some really hot sauce that tastes a lot like bottled valentina but you can tell its fresh made, and plenty of chopped onions, and radishes (?)
my tacos were decent, but didn't have enough cilanto. overall its good enough to go back but it doesn't hit it out of the park, flavorwise.

great spot for cheap, authentic tacos and big bottles of soda!. thisplaceserves some of the best and cheapest tacos you can find in the metro. you have to try the "lengua" or tongue tacos! they're to die for. the salsa bar is always filled and oh so fresh! also, you should try the liters of bottled sodas they have imported straight from mexico. they're delicious and so refreshing. they have a special every tuesday where all tacos are $1.

great food, friendly faces. was recomended hugos by a co-worker. we took a group of 10 there for our first time (all of our first time actually). so it was make it or break it for all of us with a group this large. your experience starts when you walk in the door. i knew it was different from the bare bones decor unlike all the other "mexican" restaurants around that try to prove how authentic they are with loud music and festive decoration. hugos is far from that. about 5 large picnic style tables, plain colored paint, ordering station and the kitchen. the menu is simple, taco, burrito or quesodilla... but the meat sellection is incredible, to much for me to recal to put on here.

youplaceyour order with the smiling cashier and wait a very short time for your order while it is prepared. your number is called and then the dinning begins. they have 3 salsas to choose from all of which are great. they each have a nice spice to them, but not so much so that it takes away from the food.

on our first visit every single person was impressed. in a group that large it is rare to have everyone say positive things and not even one neutral review. we have been back 3 times now in the last 2 weeks and will continue to return as long as they keep up the great work!

no wow factor. the first thing i noticed was the swarm of flies attacking me as i stood in line to order. then they were all over my table and landing on all my food and drink. makes me question the cleanliness of the place.

they have lots of meat choices. i ordered a barbacoa taco and a carne asada torta. i could tell it was very fresh, but i was struggling to find a taste that separated theplacefrom other local places. i could taste a little lake hefner in the horchata i drank.

i was not really that impressed, though i did appreciate the smiles and friendliness of the people working there. i really wanted to like this place, but between the mediocre food and the constant bombardment of flies i'm sure i won't return.
