this is my family's favorite place formexicanfood. we usually get the tacos, beans (steamed) and fluffy rice. i also love the quesadilla s. reasonable prices. good food. tortillas are great, warmed on grill with your choice of meats. the carrots, jalapeños and onions are an added treat.

bestmexicanfood in okc, hands down. absolutely the bestmexicanfood in oklahoma city, hands down. actually, it's probably the best in the state.

abuelo's? bland, boring, flavorless meat.
ted's escondido? more of the same, but they've got name recognition. they suck too.
big truck tacos? they're a close second to hugo's, but their prices are too high and their toppings are just not as fresh.

outstanding street tacos and the best rice we've found in okc. with a bottle of truemexicancoca cola hugo's is a must try. menudo on weekends but menudo is something most anglos never try. give it a try it's an amazingly flavorful soup.

very...mexican. the place was full ofmexicanlaborers when i arrived. don't come here looking for atmosphere, you get picnic tables, no decor, and hand drawn signs. the cashier does know english, but the cooks don't, so when they call out your number you should know the 01-99 numbers in spanish.
the food was pretty good, and inexpensive. the specials are around five dollars but the drinks are a bit inflated in price as most restaurants do. a bottle of jarritos will cost you double of what you pay in the supermarket. they do have horchata, piña (pineapple) and usually jamaica (hibiscus) beverages as well. there's limited amount of hot sauces available, tomatillo and some really hot sauce that tastes a lot like bottled valentina but you can tell its fresh made, and plenty of chopped onions, and radishes (?)
my tacos were decent, but didn't have enough cilanto. overall its good enough to go back but it doesn't hit it out of the park, flavorwise.

i usually get the daily special - $5.00 for 3 tacos, pinto beans and rice but this time decided to try the beef quesadilla for $5.15. it was so good! it put ted's flat wimpy quesadilla to shame and its half the price. i will definitely get it again. i will probably try chicken next time. yum. i'm craving it now and can't wait to go back!!! the food is always hot and fresh. try it! it's great food that won't bust your wallet.

we tried hugo's for the first time over the weekend. we liked it. very simple. we had steak tacos, rice and beans and a bottle ofmexicancoke. the beans weren't refried beans but just pinto beans, nothing special but still pretty good. there was quite a bit of meat served on the tacos, which had 2 corn tortillas each. they were served topped with finely chopped cilantro and onions and lime wedges and 2 kinds of hot sauces were available. we will definitely go back. i'm not so sure it's a good thing that we live so close because i can see this could become a habit. i'm anxious to try some of the other items!

good. went here with a friend who recommended it. i thought the food was authenitic home-made typemexicanfood. very good. not a nice place, but that's not why you go there. i will return and recommend it for those looking for a good authentic tex-mex(almost true mexican) that you may find in south texas or new mexico.

simple, quick and wholesome. clean, barebones seating. don't expect fancy -- not here. just good quality, freshly prepared, simplemexicanfamily fare. nothing more, nothing less.

i'm especially fond of their pollo mexicano, and love it in a burrito with rice, borrachos refritos and avocado.

their menudo is a tad "green and grassy" for me -- i prefer the blander variety. (they serve menudo on the weekends only, of course.)

i have never been in hugo's that i wasn't greeted with a smile. very friendly service.
