huey’s has several eggs benedict variations, and i almost went for the crab cake one, but decided on tomato, with the parmesan garlic grits recommended by the server...

worst restaurant experience ever. after being seated immediately, we waited over 30 minutes for our waiter. to save time, we ordered immediately before receiving our drinks. thirty minutes later, our appetizer, entree, and drinks arrived together. i ordered the crawfish étouffée. it was spoiled. after waiting 20 minutes, i walked to the host stand to request a waiter. another waiter heard me and asked if he could help. i told him about my étouffée and he said, "yes, we've had several complaints that it's bad tonight, i'll have your waiter come over." long story short, he never came. my wife's entree was cold and bland. the most infuriating part was that the manager stopped by many tables checking on things. before our crummy food arrived, we tried to flag her down several times. she made eye contact a couple of times, but would quickly bolt the other direction. out of all the restaurants in savannah, i'm confident we found the worst, on our one night in town.

"what drives great chefs nuts"

let me start by saying i loved our food and the experience was great because of it.. the terrible service we received, as it sounds other fans received also, would have ruined our lunch if the shrimp and grits wasn't out of this world. why put so much pressure on the chef to perfectly season the shrimp, cook it just the right amount of time, combine it with an unbelievable gravy and the best grits i've ever eaten just to hire hacks as waiters who get in the weeds with a full restaurant? either hire more people or get better servers. definitely don't get rid of the chef who made my wife's shrimp creole, cause it was emiril legasse-quality. keep the people who made the pain perdue and beignet's that we as good as cafe du monde in new orleans. the kitchen has it together! the front of the house is a train-wreck.

so if you want great food, stop in to huey's, but come packin' a whole heck of a lot of patience. no offense, chefs.

i hate it when restaurants overcharge for food. yes, it was seafood, but it was not especially good. $70 for 2 entrees, a beer and a margarita.was maybe worth about $50.

huey's on the river. while enjoying the holidays with the family here in savannah, we gave huey's a spin for breakfast on a monday. river street in savannah is beautiful in the mornings, and huey's has some of the best views. they also have a very good breakfast.

there was actually a crowd for breakfast, but not enough that we had to wait very long for a table. we were seated promptly enough with hot coffee appearing almost instantaneously. service was a tad slow, but since we were not in a hurry, it was no big deal. the waitstaff was friendly, and everything was spiffy clean. the patron mix appeared to be locals and tourists about evenly split.

my partner decided on the steak & eggs, while i chose the seafood omelet. we thought both were quite good, and a change of pace from an average breakfast. other items on our table ordered by our family included eggs benedict, eggs sardou, and pain perdue. i did not sample those, but my relatives said they were good. huey's has excellent coffee and espresso. all in all, huey's is affordable and worth checking out when on river street.

our final dining experience was a huey’s on the river. we enjoyed a nice riverwalk view, and our service was fine. my pesto pasta dish reminded me of the frozen raviloi we buy when we want some cheap stuff to throw together, and my husband’s crab cake suffered from too much filling not enough crab.

worst restaurant i have eaten at in a long time. my children would not even eat the chicken fingers. soggy shrimp. sour cole slaw. gumbo was pretty good. i will give them that. service also very bad.

simply wonderful. our waitress was friendly warm and very helpful with recommendations. the atmosphere was also nice, we had a great view of the river and passerbys on river street. we started with bieneigts with pecan praline sauce which were incredible. best i've ever had and then i had a roast beef po'boy ... it was on crusty bread and was more like very flavorful pot roast with melted cheese and a spicy mayo... they couple this with i side of melt in your mouth red beans and rice... just perfect for a chilly morning. the brunch menu is a great value and it runs until 3 pm ... again, we found the service stellar all though a grouchy elderly couple next to us we're complaining about the wait... but we found it perfect for a liesurely lunch. one of my fave spots in savannah! a surprising find on riverstreet which is known for more pricy tourist driven fare.
