huey's on the river

everything was really good, but it was very loud. beignets are not new orleans worthy, so skip those. however, the praline glaze you could put on them was to die for good. our waiter was incredible, too. really no complaints except for the noise. by the time dinner was done, i was desperate to get out for some peace and quiet on the street.

grew up eating at the huey's in atlanta. fantastic beignets and atmosphere was great. it was very peaceful on a weekday morning. the waitress seemed a bit dismissive and absent since we were only ordering beignets but the food made up for her lackluster service.

this place has it shit together when it comes to taste but the staff could use some training. the drinks they serve a weak and a tad bit pricey. if they would get a better bartender i'd drink there because he has no social skills.

great spot to see everything on river street. the food is great got the crawfish and wife got the shrimp and grits. was a bit spicy,but i like it like that and it is cajun influence. got friend shrimp for the little one and they where great and fresh.

loved the view of the us food truck :(. we went to huey's for breakfast while in savannah for a rugby tournament. i was so excited to have breakfast on the river and enjoy the view. when we arrived the host sat us a table that would have had a great view had the us foods delivery truck not been parked directly in front of the restaurant. the host assured us they would be gone soon as they had already been there for a while. so there we sat... staring at a the delivery truck. it blocked the entire front of the restaurant. our waitress was not friendly. she didn't welcome us or suggest anything. we ordered eggs, bacon, grits and hash browns. the eggs were very good. kinda hard to mess up scrambled eggs. the hashbrowns were inedible, dry and old looking. the bacon was a step away from cremation. also inedible. we barely saw our waitress and when we did she was in a huge hurry to be somewhere else. after she forgot , twice, she brought us ice cold coffee. we sat at that awesome river view table for over an hour and never saw anything except that us food truck!!!! i went to talk to the manager to tell him how disappointed i was in the atmosphere, service and food. he admitted he should have made the truck pull up as not to block everyone's view and he took the cremated bacon off of our check. i think we actually paid for the coffee. overall our experience was a huge disappointment. we will never go back. definitely not worth the effort.

the atmosphere was great, but the food was not all that at all, the fried shrimp was small and over cooked, and i've had better jambalaya at italian oven! waiter was great!

i love a taste of new orleans and this was a very good taste. i'd recommend it in a second. enjoy.

huey's best breakfast on river street. huey’s is always on top. when you go for breakfast you have to order at least a dozen beignets with powdered sugar. if you have kids get two dozen, they we like the sugar high. if you or the kids need more sugar get the sugared pecan side that goes with the beignets. other restaurants may be empty but huey’s is always filled. if there is a wait, it will be worth the wait. we had a party of four. my two friends had omelets. the omelets are high and fluffy. you can get them filled with your favorite accompaniment. my lovely wife had the crab cake benedict. she raved on and on about how good they were. i had the eggs blackstone. this is eggs benedict with a broiled tomato slice. i have to say my wife can make a perfect poached egg and i make the perfect hollandaise sauce. so when i go to a restaurant that is high volume i am always concerned that the rush will turn out hard eggs and poor sauce, not the case at huey’s. perfect eggs and hollandaise sauce.

the food was decent, but a bit pricey. the cornbread was very good.

good, nice atmosphere. nice place, enjoyed the meal. it was just a little on the slow side and little on the expensive side, but not so much that it impacted the meal. overall, really nice place, it's on our keep list.

looked good from the outside. had the andouille sausage with red beans and and rice. it looked like it had been under the warmer all day. i could hang wall paper with the beans. they were all mush. wife had the gumbo with pastsa. again a bowl of mush. generally we found the food in savannah to be some of the worst in america. one place we found off the beaten track was the crystal beer parlour. great staff and great value tasty food.

new orleans in savannah. we really enjoyed our recent visit to huey's. both service and food were great. the shrimp creole was very good. however, the beignets were heavenly. give it a try!

my favorite savannah restaurant! shrimp and grits were amazing! crawfish étouffée was delicious, and jambalaya was another absolutely delicious dish. beignets were a nice touch, especially with kids. i would definitely return to eat here again!
