great experience. visitedhuey'son the river on our first day in savannah (sunday, april 28, 2013) on a recommendation from a guy selling trolley tickets. we were seated at the bar, which was fine. the bartender was friendly and immediately took our drink orders.

we ended up having dinner at the bar. we ordered crab cake sandwich, green fried tomatoes (our first time) and a creamy spinach and chicken soup. the food was amazing, great flavors, and nice portions. the vibe of the place was great, lots of people watching, great views of the river and bridge.

our bill came out to $42.00. we were totally happy with the place.

would we go back? yes!!!

good food, slow service. my husband and i had dinner athuey'slast pm. we were seated in the bar area by the hostess. we had a great view of the river and the ships. our food was very good but the service was slow. our waiter had two tables inside plus three outside and he seemed to be unable to keep up. we ordered the french onion soup and the gumbo as starters. both were very good but we had to wait quite a while for it to appear. for dinner i had the red beans and rice which was spicy and creamy just like they should be. my husband had the jambalaya pasta which had large chunks of sausage, chicken, and shrimp in it. he said it wad very good. very large portions of both were served. two people could split one entree and be completly satisfied. over all we would go back again, but would probably ask to be seated in the actual dining room rather than the bar.

spectacular view. my hubby had breakfast here (he's an early riser) as it was convenient to our hotel. he raved about how good it tasted. together we popped in for some light fare before the dinner crowd on a saturday. we were seated near the windows and enjoyed watching the boats and people pass along river street.

i enjoyed the coating on the fried green tomatoes, but prefer a different type of sauce (which was like a 1000 island dressing). i got a crock of french onion soup, which had a nice beefy broth and lots of onions. the cheese and bread in the soup were average.

hubby got the gumbo and was surprised by the portion size. he said it tasted good.

overall, huey'smet our needs, and seemed to be better than many of the others along river street.

went tohuey'sfor breakfast and it was one of the best decisions i've made so far! the place was clean and quaint. my server was really nice and checked on me often. i had the two eggs any style, bacon, cheese grits, and a ln order of beignets. people say the beignets are the star but the cheese grits were my star!! they were prepared beautifully!!! seasoned to perfection and piping hot. loved them so much!!! overall it's great spot for breakfast in savannah.

huey's had been on my list of 'must try' places on river street due to the raving reviews that i have read. we went there on a saturday evening and the restaurant was fully occupied. we were told that there would be a 20-25 minute wait and we decided to be patient, hoping that it would be well worth it.

much like the reviews below, i have to say that the place was extremely loud. so it is not the ideal place if you want to have a good conversation with your dinner companions. in terms of the interior, it is one of the better decorated places in savannah. it was clean and the views of bustling river street and the water were soothing.

i decided to try the shrimp and scallop thermidor. the rest of my group went with pan seared scallops, shrimp and grits and pasta jambalaya. the salads that accompanied the meals were delicious. my thermidor was a little underwhelming as i would have preferred to have my shrimps and scallops seared before they were added to the pasta. however, there were generous amounts of shrimps and scallops in the dish. the pan seared scallops were full of flavour and seared to perfection. the grits were delicious too.

although the food did not live up to my expectations, i give them a 3.5 because the atmosphere exceeded my expectations. i look forward to returning tohuey'sto try some of their other popular dishes.

grew up eating at thehuey'sin atlanta. fantastic beignets and atmosphere was great. it was very peaceful on a weekday morning. the waitress seemed a bit dismissive and absent since we were only ordering beignets but the food made up for her lackluster service.

loved the view of the us food truck :(. we went tohuey'sfor breakfast while in savannah for a rugby tournament. i was so excited to have breakfast on the river and enjoy the view. when we arrived the host sat us a table that would have had a great view had the us foods delivery truck not been parked directly in front of the restaurant. the host assured us they would be gone soon as they had already been there for a while. so there we sat... staring at a the delivery truck. it blocked the entire front of the restaurant. our waitress was not friendly. she didn't welcome us or suggest anything. we ordered eggs, bacon, grits and hash browns. the eggs were very good. kinda hard to mess up scrambled eggs. the hashbrowns were inedible, dry and old looking. the bacon was a step away from cremation. also inedible. we barely saw our waitress and when we did she was in a huge hurry to be somewhere else. after she forgot , twice, she brought us ice cold coffee. we sat at that awesome river view table for over an hour and never saw anything except that us food truck!!!! i went to talk to the manager to tell him how disappointed i was in the atmosphere, service and food. he admitted he should have made the truck pull up as not to block everyone's view and he took the cremated bacon off of our check. i think we actually paid for the coffee. overall our experience was a huge disappointment. we will never go back. definitely not worth the effort.

huey's on the river. while enjoying the holidays with the family here in savannah, we gavehuey'sa spin for breakfast on a monday. river street in savannah is beautiful in the mornings, andhuey'shas some of the best views. they also have a very good breakfast.

there was actually a crowd for breakfast, but not enough that we had to wait very long for a table. we were seated promptly enough with hot coffee appearing almost instantaneously. service was a tad slow, but since we were not in a hurry, it was no big deal. the waitstaff was friendly, and everything was spiffy clean. the patron mix appeared to be locals and tourists about evenly split.

my partner decided on the steak & eggs, while i chose the seafood omelet. we thought both were quite good, and a change of pace from an average breakfast. other items on our table ordered by our family included eggs benedict, eggs sardou, and pain perdue. i did not sample those, but my relatives said they were good.huey'shas excellent coffee and espresso. all in all, huey'sis affordable and worth checking out when on river street.

have visited savannah on multiple occasions and have eaten at hueys several times. goods location. the last and final time i will choose to eat there, we had made reservations for a breakfast with a group of 25. when we arrived, they had no clue about it and said the person making the reservation no longer worked there. thus, a large group of people, standing in the streets of savannah, they made no attempt to accommodate our group and was actually rude. we ended up eating in another venue directly above it. was well cared for and the food was just as good.huey'sfood is ok. it's location is good but they will never feed me again.

enjoyed the bar. we have been to savannah on visits several times, and always make a stop at huey's. it's a friendly place for a drink if you can get a seat at the small bar, and has a true river street feel, for better or worse. lots of people knock river street but it is part of the savannah experience. huey's, in my opinion, is the best of river street. on this last visit, my husband loved his breakfast (huge omelet), and we had a delicious steamed shrimp app, again, all at the bar. don't have any experience sitting and waiting at a table, but don't passhuey'sby if you're in the mood for a drink and a quick bite.

perfection!. we'd been to savannah a couple times and each time we passedhuey'son river street the line was backed up for hours. while we usually don't go for the tourist attractions something told us we needed to try this place out. hands down- the best beignets i have ever had. the other breakfast items are wonderful but i can hardly remember them compared to the beignets. in fact, i don't even recall how long we waited for a table- everything is eclipsed by their fluffy, sugary perfection. spring for the praline sauce for an even more decadant experience!

don't judge by looks.. i had breakfast athuey'sand not too bad the eggs were not cooked like i wanted. i went the next morning the eggs were cooked ok but i felt as though i wasn't welcome today especially by one white female waitress that gave me the nastiest looks. people need to stop judging people by their looks alone or it seemed that way.whatever this waitress was thinking i was should never be the issue. it is her job to serve whoever comes in that wants food and friendly service. not sure i want to go back to a place where i feel that i'm not welcome. maybe she was jealous but still doesn't make her looks toward me right.

doesn't live up to potential. we were really looking forward to some nola specialties @huey'sand we were disappointed. the menu is really fantastic - full of cajun and southern specialties, but the only classic and tasty item was the side of corn bread. tim's red beans and rice were way over cooked - almost like refried beans and the andouille sausage was very salty. i tried the fried oysters, and the coating was heavy, resulting in over cooked pasty oysters. the side of cheesy grits looked like instant white grits with a sprinkle of packaged shredded cheese.

while we will not return for food, we did enjoy the bar and bartender, and would definitely return for a beer and river st. people watching.

best place in savannah. the food here is amazing! my wife and i were visiting the city for our first anniversary. we tried a lot of different restaurants based on the recommendations of our friends. after most of them pretty much sucked, we decided to stop here after walking down the river. so glad we did! their was a short wait before we were seated infront of the open windows with a view of the water (all the tables have a great view). we started off with the binettes which are the ebst my wife has ever had since new orleans. my first taste of them, so obviously they were the best i have ever had. we actually ordered more after our meal. i had the eggs benedict, while she had a chicken sandwich. both were prepared perfectly. anyone who loves eggs benedict like i do knows how hard it is to find a place that poaches eggs correctly.huey'sdid just that. the next time we are in savannah, we will be eating here at least twice more!
