mmmmmm....agnificent!. this place serves the most delicious food and it is unlike any other restaurant you will find here in the valley. i usually start off with the steamed mussels and the double dipper for appetizers (yum!) and for my entree i get either a chicken and spinach flat bread, or if available, the ribeye. if you are a wine lover you will especially love this restaurant. definitely try this place out. you will not be disappointed.

amazing food and amazing service. make sure to make a reservation. we ordered the shrimp prosciutto for appetizer, which was good but could have used some balsamic vinegar and pesto or something. we then ordered the entrees of ahi tuna and that night's special of bacon wrapped pork loin with polenta (i think) and side ceaser salads. the "anchovie filet" on the salads were different than we imagined but tasted great with head of lettuce on each of our plates. the ahi tuna and pork belly were both cooked perfectly. the pork loin needs to be a regular menu item! i don't know how we had any more room, but we ordered the homemade strawberry sorbet, cheddar, and chocolate strawberry ice creams. so good! can't wait to come back!

disappointing. with all of the good reviews our expectations were high. unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. went with another couple last week. the first issue is that this place cannot decide if it is a club/bar or high end restaurant. it failed on both accounts for us. the music was so loud we couldn't have a conversation. the food was over priced for the quality. the risotto was overcooked (rice had split) and adding extra $9 for shrimp (which was 4 small and overcooked!!). the carbonera pasta had a good amount of pancetta, but the sauce was thin, and watery. my friend had the smoked salmon pasta. the pasta had very little flavor and the few thin slices of salmon (maybe 2 oz) was like the packaged stuff you get at heb. ok, i will say the spinach, chicken and asiago flatbread was good. the crust was obviously premade and the toppings added and heated as ordered. the wine list is good, but we are not big drinkers and the waitress was very pushy with the wine/drinks. we like to support local businesses, so it is unfortunate that we were not happy with this experience

promising but could improve. nice staff and setting, varied menu and decent wine list makes this establishment attractive.
food has all the right ingredients and the plating is good but the timing is a bit off from the kitchen to your spot. the seared ahi tuna looked great but reached me a bit too late being lukewarm on the outside and with the large portion, the dish was cold about a quarter of the way through. it is a shame as i enjoyed the fresh tomato caper relish. the desert, a banana cream pie was prepared early and stored in the fridge for the day. the addition of a freshly caramelized pear could not offset the colder temperature of the pie, unfortunately.
the flavors are nice, and if the dishes timing could be improved then this would be truly very enjoyable food.

our experience was great. from the excellent service we got to the exquisite food we ordered. to start off the calamari is awesome. the butternut squash soup is really good. i was going to order the mcallen ranch house burger, but the server recommended the gouda burger and it was really good! it's not listed on their menu but it's their house specialty. all the pasta dishes my other guests ordered were really good also. the dessert we ordered was named choco-mole or something like that, it was good but had a really strong taste of either espresso or cinnamon for our taste buds.

culinary heights. to dine at house, wine & bistro is a gastronomic education for all your papillae; taste buds, across deep south texas, demand the experience! the words "sensational" and "ambiance" are no longer catacombed in the depths of merriam webster's dictionary, nor do they remain strangers--they are alive, very well acquainted and coalesce to create an atmosphere unlike any other at this bistro. hostess, server--nay, the entire staff--operate on a level of perfection and synchronicity that would reduce an atomic clock to a sun dial. alive, vibrant, precisely executed and a departure from the "usual fare" only begin to describe the food. wine? a sommelier would approve! please, invest in this education and graduate onto new culinary heights

really good most of the time, but those few times your food isn't quite as good as it should be or is missing key ingredients that are listed on the menu it's annoying to be paying $30 a dish

top of the list!!. after our daughter& her husband discovered house.wine. & bistro, we decided to try it out after their glowing reviews. they were not wrong!! what a wonderful menu, great owners, friendly servers & comfortable atmosphere! our personal favorite is the butternut squash risotto; the lamb is superb & the garlic lime shrimp appetizer melts in your mouth. this hands-down has become our #1 go-to restaurant in the valley, and our friends all agree. everything on the menu is delicious & hats off to the chef & his wonderful staff! we'll be back soon ;)

delicious food and wine. i have been here twice with a friend and each time the food is delicious. the staff is super helpful when it comes to wine selection and will give you generous samples to try. our food was delicious. while the food did take a while for it to come out, it was yummy. we had the banoffee pie for dessert which was good, but the crust was really hard. overall though, this place is awesome.
