wtf. great atmosphere, great food, great wine, great service, now will someone please teach them how to put it all together.

ordered bottle of beer with a slice of lime. got beer in a glass with a slice of lime....ordered garlic lime prawns, got some sort of calimari.....couldn't eat the calimari, so i was given complimentary plate of lime prawns...half way thru the liime prawns, main course appears.....companion was asked if he was finished with a fork still full of food. the bread i ordered with dinner never appeared

ok, ok, i get it. need to turn and burn to keep profits, but for christ sake, give a man what he asks for, let him finish what he's ordered.....staff can preach wine by the name, year, age, colour etc, but when it comes time to order the wine, which the stafff have been sprouting about for the previous 30 minutes, "sorry but we don't have that wine".

late edit......spent most of the morning after our venture, in the throes of absolute misery and pain. dioreah, nausea, facial rash you name it i had it.......

i never write reviews but this restaraunt deserves it. everybody was really friendly, from the hostess to our waiter, they were very helpful. the food was delicious! from our caesar salad to the entree, everything was delicious & flavorful! will definitely return.

bad and slow service on a thursday evening. it was a bad experience on a thursday evening. the service was slow and bad on a 'slow' night. it took several minutes for our waitress to show up. it took a long, long time for our food to arrive. i was not sure what the problem was and the waitress did not offer any apologies or explanation. the restaurant was almost empty. were they under staffed that night? also, the food was not as good (the way it was prepared) as the previous time i dined there.

good for a casual and romantic date. i checked this place out around christmas time, it was great. lighting is wonderful and the place is clean. food portions are not entirely generous, but the food is delicious. my boyfriend said his meal needed more garlic. in any case, i'm sure we will be back.

wow great service great food. wonderful wine selection. any place that can transform pork belly into something that good has my vote.

great wine, great food!. my wife and i treat ourselves once a month to a spectacular meal, we like different places and have tried several, but the only one that has made it to our "treat" place more than once is house wine. everything i have tried i have loved, but hands down my favorite is the puttanesca they put together.. great wine, great food...

enjoyed it.. wanted something different for my wife's birthday so we tried it. the service was excellent which was a happy surprise after reading previous reviews. one of our entrees was not as advertised but was quickly replaced by another. mistakes happen and its nice to find a place that remedies the problem without a big production. the service, the food, and of course the wine, were excellent. it is a bit loud so my only recommendation would be to hang tapestries to slow the sound down a bit.

horrible blond server. horrible service. a young petite blond kid served my party of 5, having told her it was our first time dinning in, she seemed to care-less and threw out a simple suggestion about a shrimp appetizer. speaking about throwing, we were greeted by thrown coasters, instead of being polite she decided that walking around the table was too much for her, so she extended her arm and threw the coasters to us. the food was indeed delicious and it had such a distinct taste to it, the flavor was a party for our taste buds with rich seasonings, but the service was extremely horrifying, poor, and darn quite shameful. we finished off with an exquisite vanilla cheese cake with an exploding cherry tart sauce, unfortunately this little girl hadnt rounded up her horrible service. she had the guts, to charge us gratuity! i am an avid dine in fanatic, and tipping where its deserved is second nature to me, but to have an 18 year old girl believe that "because we don't have a manager, so we have to be self sufficient" wow. my imprecision of the establishment is at negative numbers.

lunch, dinner, or both.... great place for a nice glass of wine (they have a good selection), they could work on their argentine malbecs, though.

salads are excellent, as it is already a feat to find a decent salad in the valley.

overall, i am glad we have house wine as a restaurant here.

i loved this restaurant. what a gem. it is one of those places that is unique and has lots of character, with great food and service to go along with it. the shrimp appetizer was slightly salty but great, and loved the salmon pasta w whole wheat spaghetti. and the flan and cheesecake were amazing. we took our coffee to the lounge area after dinner ... relaxed on the couch and enjoyed the live music (just a singer and his keyboard ...and the bose sound system was amazing). i will definitely be back the next time i visit mcallen.

too much salt!. i had just moved here from new york city and had heard all about this wine house bistro, so i finally i gave it a shot ambiance was nice but it took a little while for someone to acknowledge us (i guess because we're not locals), so finally we were attended to by one of the owners and we ordered the mussels, flatbread, and double dippers for apps. when the order came it looked pretty straight forward but then we tasted and everything had way to much salt. when it was time to take our entree orders we mentioned if we could have less salt and our server was defensive to the point that we were offended, so we asked for our check and got up and ate dinner elsewhere. maybe we were there on an off night (who knows)?

this is absolutely a hidden gem in mcallen!! the food - from appetizer to dessert - was hands down the best i experienced in the valley. the service was excellent an personable. the wine list is good for a restaurant that size and the decor is very upscale. the price is good for the quality of the food. i've paid a lot more for less quality!!! i can't wait to go back!!

went for birthday. very friendly. great food. great atmosphere. couldn't beat it. best around.
