how lucky i am to gorge on this legendary biryani for breakfast on saturday! yes, you heard me right. it was all possible because of bengaluru biryani club which exclusively organised a breakfast here for their members.

usually they open their doors from noon. hotel hanumanthu is the oldest and finest hotels for non veg items. mutton pulav, mutton chops, mutton kheema are the favourites. they are cooked in firewood which makes it unique.

their muttonpulavis to die for! one should experience to know it! it has the right blend of spices and flavour. they have succulent meat pieces in it.
mutton chops is tad spicy but the taste is brilliant! chicken kebab is crispy and one of the best i have ate!

visit to mysuru is incomplete without eating this biryani. there are many outlets all over mysuru now run by the family. the consistent taste is what makes you come back for more!

i want to tell you the actual and fraud that happened with us-
on my day visit to mysore, we all friends decided to visit hotel rrr which is located in mandi mohala.
but hotel rrr was too crowded and no space to stand.
as it was already 2:45 pm, we all are very hungry and wanted to have food badly.
so one of my friend suggested hanumanthu palav and as we all are discussing and deciding our next move.
a person near by came to us and told that by this time no palav will be available and is bit difficult.
and he also informed that hotel owner is friends of his and he will guide us till hotel.

we all decided and followed him..
he took us to hotel hanumanthu only but it was not original.
this hotel is located backside of original one and he miss guided us.

we came to know this from one of the locals, but by the time we had our lunch.
and food was disaster and not good..

we also found the original hotel..

i have captured photo of both original and fraud one.

friends beware of this kind of fraud with famous hotels in tourist places..

during the visit to mysore, this was one place i wanted to tick off my bucket list, with the help of my wife (even though she is pure veg), she ensured that i get to the place.
i took half muttonpulavand kaima. taste is good, almost similar to shivaji military hotel in bangalore. though the texture looks diff, both arepulavand people call them biriyani.

worth the money.

if you are non vegetarian, this is one place you should visit in mysore.

crazy early morning ride for breakfast at hotel hanumanthu in new meteor 350😍😍
.
was it worth- ya man
.
oh wait how many original hanumanthu 1930 are there 😅😅
.
most items - sold out
ordered muttonpulavwith some soup and mutton korma😋😋😋
.
coming to the pulav, it is not high on spice but that naati sogad from both spices and mutton add that depth of flavor, the pepperiness and squeeze of lemon is just 👌
.
the gravy with thepulavwas bit burnt instead of the smoky flavor, negative to this 🙄
.
the soup was very aromatic with some ginger may be dried and cinnamonny, its a yes☺️☺️
.
how good was that mutton korma, richness from the mutton broth and i gt tomato flavor not sure if thy hav put tomato puree, nice balance of flavors though 👍👍

finally got to visit this place with an impromptu mysore plan. was super hungry and tired after travelling mysore by walking. i am usually not a fan of this style of biryani, but was willing to give it a try after hearing from so many. was not disappointed. the muttonpulavwas simple an delicious. meat pieces were more than satisfactory. we took half a plate of chicken kebab. price is justified.

finally got to taste the famously talked aboutpulavin mysore... the one & only original hotel hanumanthu. usually i go on hunt with a carnivore gang but on this sunday due to bus breakdown in mysore enroute to coorg, a spontaneous plan for an early morning breakfast. breakdown was a blessing in disguise though.
ordered half mutton pulav, 1 leg soup, 1 mutton chops & brain fry.pulavwas average & a bit bland to my liking. would have preferred it spicy.
mutton chaaps & leg soup was amazingly tasty, loaded with lots of pepper the taste was tantalizingly delicious.
not so hard on your pocket, a good vfm hotel.
ambience is neat & clean after renovation and service is quick. a big shout out to the guy who served me 😃😃 .

i am writing the review after visiting the restaurant twice. the resto is famous for muttonpulavand chops. from my personal experience, i would say it's an overrated restaurant in the city. tried betterpulavand chops in many other restaurants. i ain't giving a bad review. food here is decent. less spices added and they serve in leaf but it's not great. not a must try, might be it was years ago.

this place has a very limited menu and mostly all mutton dishes.
we ordered mutton pulav, mutton chops and chicken kabab. coming from bengaluru we found the muttonpulavto be extremely mild in terms of spice and flavours. but the mutton was very well cooked and the soup/gravy they serve with it is quiet spicy. the chops was really nice and kabab (only chicken dish served here) was good too.

hotel hanumanthu is a legendary name when it comes to biryani or as they call it pulav. the place is on a busy road with little space so dont expect an ambiance. but the food is good. thepulavwas very light and flavourful and the quantity was huge for the price. mutton chops went well with the pulav. i loved the way the serve the pulav. pricing is reasonable. serving delicious food since 1930.

during my last visit to mysore i made sure i paid a visit to hanmantu hotel a legendary place that serves biriyani since 1930 for all the biriyani lovers in mysore. a legendary place it..
a small place tucked in busy streets of mandi mohalla and is a landmark on its own, they are known for there biriyani orpulavas they call it.
i visited during lunch hours and place was pretty much full and there were lot of folks and delivery people from under eats and zomato too waiting outside the hotel to pick up food. lucky enough i got a table quickly.
ordered a half mutton biriyani and mutton chops

what's best is the portion size that is served here. for 150 rupees a half plate of biriyani that fills you up to the brim!!
and taste!! it's just amazing a simple one not too oily nor overloaded with spices but the one that has a homely feel. loved the biriyani...
then mutton chops which normally a dry starter but in here it was moist and has a small amount of curry - sooper dooper side dish - because the meat was very soft and cooked well .
will always make sure to hanmantu in my consecutive visits to mysore ...
i even met the owner of the place mr. vishal .. an honour meeting this humble and down to earth human being.

thanks to bengaluru biriyani club for sharing the location details of place . as i wanted to visit this place only
. the original brach..

this is one of the over hyped biryani outlet.. i had heard it from my friends and wanted to try it for a long time.. i got a chance to visit this place but felt it was not worth the hype that has been created or heard.

i ordered muttonpulavand chicken kabab..pulavwas very ordinary similar to vegpulavyou prepare at home (it tastes much better at home actually speaking)but with well cooked mutton pieces.. quantity was good but was served with spoiled(stale)raitha(mosru bajji) now chicken kabab was already prepared which was again heated in oil n served very oily n taste was mediocre..

1. quality and taste is very bad but quantity is good

2. hygiene of the place is not well maintained.waiter served it on the leaf which is torn and he kept the leaf directly on the table which was not clean..after telling him 2 times to serve it properly he put a news paper on the table worst attitude of waiters..water was not served even after asking multiple times..

3. raitha(mosru bajji) was spoiled and was stinking and when i complained about it to both server and cashier both were least bothered.

a humble request to zomato users and people traveling from bangalore or far of places;please do not over hype this place.. these guys don’t deserve the hype and advertising,as they are not customer friendly and also food here sucks..

these guys are relying on fame of their dad mr hanumantu, who was a good cook and served good biryani which was being appreciated and well received by people around ages ago..

now admin from this restaurant on zomato- dont tell me i went to another branch. i went to original branch #1720 ,akbar road, mandi mohalla, next to vishal bar and restaurant- mysore..

try to improve your quality and ensure you have good staff and improve the customer service.. you people will not have customers visiting with the current state of the restaurant.. pics of actors, politicians, news paper articles wont help you guys in near future.. wake up

final verdict not worth the crave or hype that is created.. i would not suggest this place to any one..

well thepulavwith tender mutton and amazing mutton chops is an amazing lunch option and worth the visit to mysore alone instead of going to palace etc...chicken kabab was not bad either but stick to mutton over here...quick service, old school charm and worthy of a bullet ride to mysore from bangalore!!
