always keen to go local when visiting places. of course, this came with big recommendations, and gordon ramsay, of course!!
the best way to locate this place is to get off at the hp gas station and walk to the building behind. don’t follow the various directional maps. a quick walk up to the restaurant on level 1.
we decided to go with a variety of non-veg (of course)!! the fish khorikaa - barbecue of small fishes, was great. not crunchy enough to eat the bones, so do be careful to take out the central bone. thechickenin bamboo shoot was exceptional for the gravy - the bamboo gives a fresh feeling to the palate. we ordered the broiler typechickenand not the localchicken- i think they need to look closer into sourcing this, was a bit smelly. maybe better to order the localchickenvariation. that was followed by the pork in sesame gravy - have never had a more unique dish. deep in wonderful flavors and a interesting green color. the pork pieces were a medley of fat and meat - though i did find the meat a bit stiff. we ended with the payasam - light, tasty and not too sweet.
my overall thoughts is that this place definitely needs to be visited. however, their meats needs to be handled better. where they definitely need to improve are on service - a very indifferent bunch of service staff - like they have taken things for granted and maybe don’t enjoy what they were doing. and the loos - it is just not acceptable to have such rundown loos in any establishment - reflects very poor hygiene and taste (sic) of the management.
and i did notice chef atul head off in the middle of a busy saturday afternoon lunch seating!! i guess he had more important things to do.
worth a visit - but unlikely for a repeat!!
