hai phong vietnamese restaurant

clean and friendly. for some pho joints, having a clean interior and friendly staff can be hard to come by. hai phong features a neat setup and attentive staff. the shrimp andporksalad rolls were fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. while the real reason for our visit (their favourably reviewed pho) didn't knock my socks off (broth was underwhelming, but quality of ingredients were good), i will re-visit to sample other menu items.

came to hai phong to try the bun bo hue. it definitely wasn't the most spicy bun bo hue we've tried, which is good because other places make it way too spicy. flavour wise, it was very good, one of the better ones we've had. there isporkblood in it, so that might scare some people away. but if you're feeling adventurous, we'd recommend you give it a try! we also ordered the vietnamese style beef sashimi. it doesn't look appetizing but it is delicious! it tastes a little bit like the butter beef from phnom penh.

service is fine and prices are good. next time we'll come back to try the crab and maybe the hot pot.

i love this place so much. their soup and broth is clear and just tasty! it doesn't taste unnatural like other places and their meat is sooo good. even their lemongrassporkand chicken is the best, even comes with a small bowl of broth which is the best! the service is great too, one particular waitress is understanding and quick with the orders!

ordered take-out and it was ready in 10 minutes -- the time it took to walk there. already a plus! 
the spring rolls were delightful, and the grilledporkskewer &porkpatty were very tasty. there was a nice array of your typical vermicelli bowl ingredients, and ample vermicelli which i find a lot of restaurants out here seem to lack. i'd definitely come back!

a must try!!! a real authentic gem!!!. we were referred to hp by a vietnamese friend and we were so impressed with food! the banh kot (pan fried shrimp cakes) were so tasty. kudos go to the grilled marinatedporksalad rolls as well. the viet. braised fish was bursting with flavors, the viet. hot and sour soup was even better than phenom phenn's, stir fried satay chix was good and the stir fried watercress with garlic was crisp and delicious! the oyster omelet was only mediocre but overall, we were really pleased with the dishes and hai phong will defs be our to go restaurant from now on!

beef noodles in soup is very good!. we tried the beef noodles in soup and it was very good! we also ordered a bowl of dry noodles and well, we can honestly say it didn't have much on it. there was just one quail egg and 2 pieces of shrimp and some pieces of liver . i've had this same dish at another viet restaurant on hastings which had more than double the amount of toppings. however, it was quite tasty. i loved theporkbone soup on the side that came with the noodles. that was very sweet, maybe it had white radish in it. theporkand shrimp rolls wasn't as good compared to the other place. we also ordered the grilledporkchop with steam egg and rice and theporkwas quite dry and hard. the egg pie was nice and the broken rice was something different from regular white rice served in other places. we will definitely be back to try other things on the menu as there are a lot of varieties here.

my new fav pho place. we decided to come here especially to try their "special dry noodle", thinking whether there can be a replacement for phnom penh. to our surprise, it was pretty similar..although not exactly the same. difference: little on sweeter side, more soy sauce, less shallots/garlic. not quite as 'tasty' as phnom penh...but still very good. the ingredients are also very generous - pig's heart, pig stomach, prawns, two quail eggs,porkslices, bean-sprouts and lettuce. our friend ordered the lemongrassporkchop rice - he said it was really good too, rice was vietnamese rice and not chinese rice. it also came with some shreddedporkskin.

setting: fairly clean. lots of tables. t.v.'s. service - food came pretty fast.

would def. go again!
