clean and friendly. for somephojoints, having a clean interior and friendly staff can be hard to come by. hai phong features a neat setup and attentive staff. the shrimp and pork salad rolls were fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. while the real reason for our visit (their favourably reviewed pho) didn't knock my socks off (broth was underwhelming, but quality of ingredients were good), i will re-visit to sample other menu items.

returning from toronto i went back to what was one of my favouritephorestaurants. they must have just change ownership or chefs cause that was absolutely terrible. took 50mins to get our pho, which ended up being a fraction of what it use to be swimming in a msg and salt broth. too bad, another one bites the dust.

bestphoi’ve had in a long time. good service even when busy. large room with lots of tables so you can usually find a spot.

to those who criticize reviews bypholovers.... it’s a free world. it’s winter and i want a great soup. so i’m often here for pho. period.

tl;dr awesome broth and selection, a must try forpholovers!

i finally stopped by this place on kingsway on a sunday. it was already fairly busy at 11 before the
church goers came through.

i had thephowith steak and beef brisket. it was absolutely fantastic! the broth was light and clear, it wasn't drowned in msg so i wasn't desperately grabbing for water. the brisket was amazing, it was very tender and flavorful.

can't wait to to go back again!

i really wish people would just know what real food is and order specialties in-house rather then wings and plain beefphoand shit.

k when you come here order the viet spicy hotpot (thai style) for two. it's amazing!!! this is my usual with my gf and seriously it's so good. there's a sweetness to the broth and yes you can certainly drink it. comes with a side dipping sauce (fish sauce and chillies).

there is also a dish that's a egg crepe with veggies. you stuff the egg and veggies with mint and basil into the lettuce and roll. dip it into the sauce and bam. now give me a review after those two items to start off with. not some lame ass oh i had the chicken wings and beefphoand no on the siracha... child please people who post things like that can overhype one thing or put down another restaurant in great ratings.

i was a former first cook, jr sous, sr sous, head chef, retired.

came in because of a posting that said this was voted one of the bestphorestaurants, the wings sounded good, so we got a full order of garlic chicken wings, after dipping it in lemon water juice mixed with some kind of spice/msg, (came with the wings) there isn't really any butter or much garlic left. i personally liked them better without the wings dip. thephospecial came next, not much toppings but when you eat pho, it's all about the broth. don't ruin it with that sriracha and hoisin sauce. the chef spent hours boiling it down and readjusting until just right. dip your meat in the sriracha and hoisin and eat it. at least, the broth was good.

ben intended to bring me to my chau forphoga on a friday evening. we were not aware that it closes at 6:00pm. although we reached my chau before 6:00pm, there was a note on the door stating that it closed early for that day. so, we decided to walk along kingsway to look for another place to eat. we came upon hai phong which we had not been here for a long time and settled with it.

i recently had lunch at hai phong vietnamese restaurant in vancouver on kingsway with my buddy and as it was my first time dining here, i had to blog about it!. since it was my first visit, i will almost always opt forphoto try their staple product. my friend got the house special, but i opted to go for the large rare beef and beef balls with rice noodle soup $8.50.

...beef was extremely tender; soup was absolutely delish - it had the stew flavor yet the light texture of aphobroth; egg noodle wasn't bad, but the other option of rice noodle (tried below) didn't seem that much better.

pretty good.. this place is good. very attentive and values all customers. may be a bit short staffed, but otherwise they try to attend to everyone quickly.

the food is great! had some viet style raw beef it looked a bit gross and messy, but it tasted great with the sauce.
the dry rice noodlephois very tasty and somewhat cambodian styled, with a soured daikon side dish for you to munch on.

this place is awesome. quick service, delicious food, relatively decent priced, not too expensive.

my new favphoplace. we decided to come here especially to try their "special dry noodle", thinking whether there can be a replacement for phnom penh. to our surprise, it was pretty similar..although not exactly the same. difference: little on sweeter side, more soy sauce, less shallots/garlic. not quite as 'tasty' as phnom penh...but still very good. the ingredients are also very generous - pig's heart, pig stomach, prawns, two quail eggs, pork slices, bean-sprouts and lettuce. our friend ordered the lemongrass pork chop rice - he said it was really good too, rice was vietnamese rice and not chinese rice. it also came with some shredded pork skin.

setting: fairly clean. lots of tables. t.v.'s. service - food came pretty fast.

would def. go again!
