clean and friendly. for some pho joints, having a clean interior and friendly staff can be hard to come by.haiphong features a neat setup and attentive staff. the shrimp and pork salad rolls were fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. while the real reason for our visit (their favourably reviewed pho) didn't knock my socks off (broth was underwhelming, but quality of ingredients were good), i will re-visit to sample other menu items.

came tohaiphong to try the bun bo hue. it definitely wasn't the most spicy bun bo hue we've tried, which is good because other places make it way too spicy. flavour wise, it was very good, one of the better ones we've had. there is pork blood in it, so that might scare some people away. but if you're feeling adventurous, we'd recommend you give it a try! we also ordered the vietnamese style beef sashimi. it doesn't look appetizing but it is delicious! it tastes a little bit like the butter beef from phnom penh.

service is fine and prices are good. next time we'll come back to try the crab and maybe the hot pot.

i write this review with a glowing belly full ofhaiphong’s #36 – chicken with (thin) vermicelli in curry soup. the dish is full of flavour, generous amounts of meat, served with a side of veg and herbs. five stars as far as satisfying soup on a cold day goes. it is a classically casual atmosphere however. this spot off kingsway is one of my go-to‘s in vancouver’s little saigon.

slowly trying to work my way through all the vietnamese spots in the little saigon area. the solid ratings made me want to givehaiphong vietnamese restaurant a try. it’s located in a small plaza that houses a domino’s and a few other businesses. the inside is quite large and there’s a tv in the back (they had an nfl game up). service is friendly but we weren’t too impressed; they never came back to refill our teas nor to check up on us.

finding a new and unique vietnamese restaurant to try is always hard because everything tends to be the same everywhere you go. i mean you have your beef noodle soup, your salad roll, your grilled protein with broken rice dish…you know what i mean?. so when i heard abouthaiphong, i jumped at the opportunity to try it out!

i find it ridiculous that people base their entire review on one dish.
i've been going tohaiphong for a while and have to say, they are without a doubt my favorite. the food is amazing as is the service. also the tables aren't tiny like some restaurants. all in all a good experience with the great food. i'll be a lifer.

ben intended to bring me to my chau for pho ga on a friday evening. we were not aware that it closes at 6:00pm. although we reached my chau before 6:00pm, there was a note on the door stating that it closed early for that day. so, we decided to walk along kingsway to look for another place to eat. we came uponhaiphong which we had not been here for a long time and settled with it.

i recently had lunch athaiphong vietnamese restaurant in vancouver on kingsway with my buddy and as it was my first time dining here, i had to blog about it!. since it was my first visit, i will almost always opt for pho to try their staple product. my friend got the house special, but i opted to go for the large rare beef and beef balls with rice noodle soup $8.50.

richard (food critic, vancouverfoodster.com ) and jenny (french born vietnamese) both agreedhaiphong was their favourite vietnamese restaurant in vancouver. this was a little chat we had after we all attended “food via social media” event hosted by hootsuite. so we decided to go there for dinner after. before our dishes arrived, they gave us a plate of condiments of banana blossoms, vietnamese coriander leave, basil, bean sprouts, chili, and lime. these were flavour enhancers for our noodle soups. i had banana blossom in vietnamese noodle soup before at kim phung, but never had vietnamese coriander before. apparently vietnamese coriander is called laksa leave in malaysian/singaporean cuisine and used in laksa dishes. condiments for noodle soup: banana blossoms, vietnamese coriander, basil, bean sprouts i ordered duck and bamboo shoot vermicelli in soup. i had this dish before at kim phung. the broth here was superb! the flavours were very complex. the addition of vietnamese coriander

a must try!!! a real authentic gem!!!. we were referred to hp by a vietnamese friend and we were so impressed with food! the banh kot (pan fried shrimp cakes) were so tasty. kudos go to the grilled marinated pork salad rolls as well. the viet. braised fish was bursting with flavors, the viet. hot and sour soup was even better than phenom phenn's, stir fried satay chix was good and the stir fried watercress with garlic was crisp and delicious! the oyster omelet was only mediocre but overall, we were really pleased with the dishes andhaiphong will defs be our to go restaurant from now on!

pho ga... but grilled?. driving up kingsway, one is blasted by numerous signs offering vietnamese cuisine, and in particular pho.haiphong is one of them. on a saturday evening, the clientele can be a bit intimidating - the rows of modified cars with dark tinted windows outside belonging to the large groups of youths inside, many of whom are well muscled. keep your gaze down and don't bump into their wheels, and you should be fine. can't say the same about the doneness level of their noodles though, as a pair of bowls we had were very overcooked. my order of pho ga came out with a puzzling side plate of some grilled chicken instead of it being simmered/boiled. broth was okay, but the noodles and mis-cooked chicken ruined it for me.

trudy , whom i had met during the inaugural social bites dinner last fall, asked me to try her go-to vietnamese place:haiphong . rather than go it alone or drag my errant husband, who's been distracted with tax season, i asked her to take me there. she
