do you have a hankering for some fries, gravy and cheese curds in the late hours of the night into the wee hours of the morning? fritz is open late and is a great way to satisfy your itch for some poutine. it's not particularly cheap, but the fries are cooked perfectly and you can never go wrong withpoutineanyhow.

to live or visit canada and not have triedpoutineis downright blasphemous. americans have chili cheese fries, and canadians their poutine.

we got the chickenpoutineand mango curry chutney and chili chutney. thepoutinewas good, the chicken was tender and flavorful, the gravy was good and the fries were good too. overall a great place to try canadianpoutinefor visitors , tourists and locals. as for the dips they were what we would call aioli rather then chutney but they were good none the less. we liked mango curry better.

been here a few times in the late night, for they are open past 12. fritz has a good selection when it comes to toppings, vegan options, and dips. the only problem is affording all of them. a small plainpoutinealone is $6.50. small is no understatement either. the last time i came here, my stomach ached afterwards, as did the stomachs of my 2 other friends. i’ve come here other times and been okay, but somewhere like smokes poutinerie is more of my go to.

as i walked by thispoutinerestaurant many times, i would love to try their poutine. here i ordered a small chicken poutine. who took my order was probably the owner of the restaurant. she was very nice and friendly. her service was very well even though this restaurant was like a fast food place.

thepoutinewas very "canadian" and local. although i ordered a small chicken poutine, the portion was quite big and filling. i was full the whole afternoon after eating thepoutineby myself. i should have shared it with a friend. the gravy tasted great; the chicken was actually marinated by some curry sauce or powder; and there was big chunks of cheese. there were some salt, black pepper, vinegar, and other spices that i could add to thepoutineas well. all the ingredients matched well with the fries, so it was called chicken poutine. the only downside was that i was very thirty after eating the poutine.

overall, i had a good eating experience here. if i would go back for fries, i would order their fritz with their special dips.

the hot dog – the bun was soft and warm and encompassed the sausage which tasted like a regular hot dog so it was okay. thepoutine– the fries were crunchy and tasted like potatoes, the gravy was just the right consistency and very peppery. the cheese curds were good and melted nicely – nice and squeaky too

not too bad for fast food but not the best. a small shop withpoutinethat reminded me of potato and gravy at kentucky fried chicken. the gravy is slightly salty but at a good temperature to melt the cheese curds and make them gooey and stretchy. definitely not the best in vancouver, thepoutineat the flying pig was in a much higher league than this. probably wouldn't go back but not bad as a quick fast food snack.

best fries best service!. i love that when you walk in you are greeted by a family who has owned this establishment for 15 years now! fresh handcut fries, double layeredpoutine(depending on the size, you'll get 3-4 layers!!) and an array of hand made sauces and toppings. the gravy isn't the yucky watery gravy, its nice and thick with plenty of spices and nice melted cheese curds. this is definitely a place where not only the food is bomb but the staff is wonderful serving people tip 4 am and getting the order pretty fast.

nice to see an original family business thats been rocking this place for a long time now.

deeeeeeeelish!. this was our first time to fritz - and the owner was such a gem! you can tell this woman is proud of her food and it shows!

we had the pulled pork poutine, and it did not disappoint. we orderd 2 sauces, chipotle and blue cheese - both great, but to be honest - thepoutinedid not really need them, it was great on it's own.

we will definitely be back.

we’ve had la’s version ofpoutine(from animal ) and we loved it.  but we were excited to try the real thing in canada! when we searched for poutine, fritz was one of the more popular places who specialized in french fries smothered with gravy. …i mean just look at their menu. we just went with a standardpoutine(large)… no toppings and no special dips (even though i wanted to try them all). i always thought “poutine” fries were just gravy fries and didn’t realize that cheese curds were an essential part of this canadian dish! food :  freaking delicious!!! fries came out hot, gravy was even hotter. despite the heat, our little cheese curds didn’t really melt (mind blown). gravy tasted great and was my favorite part. oh, and the fries were crispy. delicious. atmosphere : very small.  there is only one little table/bench inside.  we just took our order to go...

a while back ago, i tagged along on a visit to fritz after hearing good things about this place on davie st. here, i ordered a medium poutine with a side of  cajun ketchup . the dip was just "fancy" tasting ketchup, really. thepoutinewas pretty good though and i liked that the cheese curds were layered through out the fries. as for the gravy, it was on the slightly salty side but it didn't stop me from finishing the bowl clean. i'm personally not crazy aboutpoutinein general but this place definitely hits the spot. not bad at all.

so i actually had this friday night and totally forgot i went! i go to fritz late night, to get my greasy fix. it’s not too expensive and a lot better than throwing your money at mcdonalds when you’ve had a couple drinks. i love getting a small fritz (just fries) and nibbling off friends’ poutine. to be fair, the quality is either hit or miss here. they’re either ridiculously good, or rather plain tasting fries. to ensure quality, you can choose from a number of their dips. i got curry ketchup, which wasn’t made in the usual style i’m used to. it reminds me more of a plum sauce and curry than curry ketchup. i’m much more of a fan of thepoutineif i can handle the guilt. i would give them a 3.5/5! good for a quick late night snack that won’t cost you very much ($3-6). i just wish there was just more consistency, although i do keep coming back… must mean i like em !   the post fritz european fry house appeared first on gastrofork .
