chai $4.50 black tea leaves have been steeped in milk and left to continue brewing in the pot. it’s flavoured with ginger and honey and contains a comforting, aromatic blend of spices. herb and olive rolled eggs, flowers, saffron whipped chevre, with pickled eschallot and carta da musica $17 perfectly poached eggs are rolled in a black olive ‘dirt’, carta da musica – an unleavened bread, is wafer thin and arrives placed on top of the entire dish. break this up into pieces to soak up the gooey yolk. it’s certainly an elegant tasting plate of food what with creamy chevre cheese and saffron. there’s plenty of rich hollandaise sauce spliced with sour pickled eschallots and a herby salad. there was a hairy caterpillar in one of the flowers, you can actually see the little guy on the right in one of the pink flowers. i let one of the staff know and he took my lunch guest away.  that same day, i emailed fleetwood macchiato, asking if i could get a discount for the next time i ate there. soon afterwards, i received an apology and a 20% discount on my next visit. we use fresh produce, and the edible flowers on that dish are very delicate and cannot be washed without destroying them; thus they can sometimes  attract stray friends like you encountered, as all fresh produce can. i thought it strange they didn’t mention checking the flowers for insects. if the flowers are so delicious to bugs, then they should be examined before presenting to people for consumption shouldn’t they?   cafe two ants, potts point there is a little cafe near elizabeth bay, it’s got a simple fit out, they make coffee and have an all day breakfast. service is very warm and friendly, i ordered a bigbreakfasthere and this is what it looks like: generous bigbreakfast$15.50 it’s massive. it consists of two poached eggs, side of bacon, beef sausages, avocado, tomato, rocket, two thick slices of buttered sourdough and a pat of ricotta. beforehand, i was starving but by the end, i left a slice of sourdoug

hadbreakfasthere on a very busy weekend morning. service was very polite and efficient and the coffee was great. my partner and i both ordered the cured trout  which came with an egg, toast and a water cress and fennel salad.  a potentially delicious dish was totally spoilt by overseasoning, to the point where the saltiness made the trout borderline inedible .  a very disappointing experience and a shame to leave lovely looking trout sitting on the plate

wow! takes a lot to impress me and this was the most interesting, most beautiful and yummiestbreakfasti've had in years. there's so much competition in this area and fleetwood are clearly leading at the edge of innovation. awesome.

the sweet smell of strong coffee as you walk past this tiny 22-seater cafe is enough to make you stop in your tracks. if that’s not enough to keep you lingering, the cakes and pastries displayed in the long glass cabinet surely will! the talented bunch at fleetwood macchiato, erskineville  are welcoming and make their own housemade preserves, pickles, jams and syrup for sodas (blood orange, lime, grapefruit etc).                          smashed eggbreakfastroll 2 eggs, avocado, smoked chilli, pickles, mayo, cucumber and mesclun - added chorizo great to see a different take to the regularbreakfastrolls seen at most cafes. perfect half-boiled eggs with soldiers of cucumber and pickles, a creamy dollop of mayo and because the boy couldn’t do without meat, he added their house-cured chorizo. poached eggs with fennel, lemon, bottarga, eschallots and toast i tried some of mr.j’sbreakfastpile and it was packed full of flavour! once again the eggs were

interesting ingredients. thought this was going to be another dreaded hipster place with ned kelly beards a flowing but didn't turn out to be (at least wasn't for me). had the smashed eggbreakfastroll and the picked onions certainly gave it some taste. had a side of the morcilla (blood sausages) which is sourced from the rodriguez brothers company. the waitress explained how to pronounce it which i was impressed by.

a little bit cheated ?. we've been to this coffee spot a number of times and find their coffee generally very good, on our last visit though i ordered a sandwich forbreakfastwhich had 'egg' as it's main ingredient. the bread they use is quite delicious and if you have been here before you'll know that their menu is quite unique in the sense of ingredients they pair up. on this occasion though i was quite disappointed, this sandwich cost me a little over $10 ok so this may not seem like too much money but...as i lifted the lid on my bread i was cheesed off to find one rather small and sad looking semi poached egg swimming on a bed of spinach and chutney! for this money i would have been happier to see at least 2 eggs seeing as this was the main draw card for this particular menu choice. considering the choice of great eateries in the vicinity i have to say unfortunately i would rather go some where else to feel like i get my money's worth : (

delicious take on thebreakfastroll. fleetwood macchiato offers an executive cup & crust combo - you get a cup of soup and half a baguette. brilliant for diners who can't make up their minds (guilty as charged). mine was a pumpkin soup with a chicken, coriander aioli and slaw baguette. i would've preferred a softer bread and stronger flavours from the aioli and slaw. my friend's smashed egg roll was awesome however. the egg was perfectly half-boiled and smushed on top of a baguette stuffed with mustard aioli, avocado, pickles and mushrooms. planning to work my way through the interesting menu. coffee here is probably better suited to milk-based espressos as my long black was very strong.

fleetwood macchiato how it can be wrong ?? it can't be ! menu is concise but thoughtful and hits every button frombreakfastthrough to lunch. mybreakfastand soda were delicious! it is very reasonably priced .. almost under priced in relationship to the care and labour that would go in to their field mushrooms, marinated capsicum etc etc... service was great.. friendly.. tentative everything thats important. i will definitely be back. viva la mac !
