7/4/2016 excellent! our family of 5 planned a new orleans outing then searched for a suitable restaurant and found felipe's. once you get passed the idea of a standard sit-down restaurant you'll do fine here. think of ordering like a subway sandwhich... where each person orders their entrée and chooses their toppings. i had the baja style shrimp tacos and made it a combo. the taste blew me away! i tried my daughter's quesadilla which was verygoodtoo. everyone was pleased and the self-serve drink station was refreshing on this very hot day. we left paying under $60 including the tip with all 5 of us making our meals a combo by adding a drink and chips. this us a fantastic informal spot for lunch or quick dinner. can't wait to go back.

master judge. i really like this place, the service is better at the bar than the tables and the food is fast, cheap, and huge portions for the money. i can't fault the nachos (outstanding quantity and quality) or the steak burritos (huge) to go with either margaritas or agoodbloody mary. a great place for dining on the cheap.

average service and poor customer service. a friend and i wanted cups for water (which are normally provided), and they refused, saying well "it's mardi gras"... basically that they can get away with charging obscene prices for bottled water since it's mardi gras. food is fine/good. seemingly healthier, but definitely notgoodenough to justify poor service.

horrible/i am baffled at thie place's popularity. went went for a second try after an initial horrible experience a year ago. the line was almost out the door. the interior is welcoming enough and the prices are dirt cheap. other than that, this place is the worst mexican around. how other people like this place is stupefying. both times i have went they have been out of what i wanted, and both times i went during the lunch rush. the food is slopped together on a plate. the flauta's were as thin as pencils and dropped frozen into a deep fryer right in front of my face. they tasted stale. i asked for 3 different tacos and was told they didn't have the chicken i wanted. i amended my order but the guy who took my order didn't have a verygoodgrasp of english and instead gave me 3 fish taco's. this is a cafeteria type slophouse like pancho's. garbage. i can't think of any mexican restaurant, including taco bell, that is worse than this place. i just don't get it.

much ado about nothing. i am a self proclaimed connoisseur of inexpensive mexican & latin fare, so it was with great anticipation that i ventured to felipe's last week for a quick lunch. after reading the overwhelmingly effusive reviews i was anticipating much more than what i ended up receiving. i was one of the first in line that day and decided to order a chicken taco, a chicken tinga taco, a carnita taco and an order of chicken flautas. the staff were friendly enough, although i was disappointed when i was told that the chicken tinga was not ready yet, despite it being the onset of the lunch rush. i asked for red onions and cilantro on my tacos, standard for any cantina taco, and the red onions were so bitter they were almost inedible. they over whelmed everything else on the taco and ruined them. the tortilla's themselves tasted stale and were not freshly made, as they are at the far superior pupaseria divina corona in nearby gretna. even chevy's, a chain steeped in mediocrity, presses fresh tortillas for its entrees. the chicken flautas were very thin and were, i suspect, previously frozen before being dumped en masse into a cafeteria fryer. given its desirable locale and cheap prices it is not surprising that people would flock to this place, just don't expect verygoodfood.

good burritos and drinks!. this is my favorite burrito place in new orleans so far. the burritos are yummy and cheap. they have agoodvariety for the drink menu and the drinks are made fresh (no sour mix here):) my only negative is the staff who make the burritos- they are pretty rude and they are literally slapping the ingredients on your burrito with bitterness that they are at work- oh well- maybe i just went on bad days. my suggestion would be to hire people who actually appreciate that they have a job:) anyway- overall very good!

terrible service!!!. i decided to try this restaurant since its so close to my work and the just started delivering since i cant leave the office on lunch... i called and was asked to be put on hold for 5-6 minuets to get someone to take my order which i had no problem with after being on hold for over 15 mins i got hung up on so i called back. i have never eaten here and after reading all the reviews being sogoodi was eager to try it. when i called back i was told that in fact they had no one who could take my order.... i asked what i should do since i wanted to eat here and the worker on the phone was very rude and unfriendly almost yelling that she had no one to take my order and i would have to wait on hold for yet another 5-15 mins... terrible and rude service!!

not too shabby for "authentic" mex. prettygoodspot around the fq for that late night mexican fix. its a little ways off the beaten path, but well worth the wait. nice atmosphere, and fairly inexpensive. overall worth a look if you're craving texmex/mexican food.

likes it. i'm from so. cal and this place equals many of the taqueria's in la. the flavor is authentic, although the salsa bar is not quite up to par. they don't have pico de gallo out , but do have 3 kinds of red sauce and one green sauce out. the meat was flavorful and everything was made fresh. the price was reasonable and is agoodplace for a cheap (inexpensive) meal in fq.
