i like it, but i don't think it stands up for all of the hype. it is a cute little restaurant on fairmount street, and you won't miss it since there is almost always a line out the door. the one thing that was pretty tasty was the chicken and waffles.  i thought theeggsbenedict was okay, i have definitely had bettereggsbennys in other brunch spots.

went to fabergé after flying in on the red eye from calgary. it was a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. our server was fantastic. we chatted a bunch and she was attentive and friendly. i went with the breakfast poutine in an attempt to consume as much poutine as possible over the weekend. it was delicious, but a huge serving. i couldn't finish it. my husband had theeggsbenny. we loved that it came on a montreal bagel! coffee was great, as was the juice. the interior is pretty big and inviting. i'd definitely go back next time i visit montreal. yum!

fabergé is a staple montreal brunch spot with a creative yet classic menu. the restaurant is not very big which can make for a long waiting time especially on sundays, but if you're a patient person it's definitely worth it. the atmosphere is relaxed with eclectic and urban decor making it a unique spot with some great menu options. i had the classiceggsbenedict and they were delicious. they also have a cute cocktail menu if you're feeling a little fancier.

we have a love hate relationship with brunch, we love having brunch but we hate waking up for it! and if we’re going to set our alarm on the weekend, the brunch better be superb because a lazy sunday in bed, more often than not, trumps any brunch plans. fabergé has been on our radar for awhile, with a huge menu that has vegetarian and gluten free options. the menu ranges from traditional to inventive dishes, omelets, crepes, waffles, french toast, eggsbenedict and some fun dishes like a steak burrito, burger, sandwiches and other lunch options. what makes a brunch spot delightful? the potatoes of course! and the potatoes at fabergé are tasty.

**revised review below my original post**

one of my favorite breakfast places! i will drive across town just to eat here.
the huevos rancheros are awesome and the egg cooked in the cheese bread is also one of my favs.

always great service and i love the cartoons.

wait times tend to be quite long, so going early is best.

i went to fabergé this morning and travelled out of my way across montreal to get there only to find out that they have reduced their menu by a lot and have changed the dishes that are currently on the menu to make room for items like "tofu scramble with spinach, mushrooms, & onions".

the huevos is no longer a meal i would go out of my way to pay 16$ for (theeggsin cheese bread were completely mia), the prices have increased, and the portions served also seem much smaller than before.

their online menu also shows all dishes at 10$ but most are at least 1.5 times that price.

my significant other is a chef so i get that sometimes you need to reduce a menu or change a few things here and there, but this seems to be a very drastic change that completely disappointed me.

i've changed my rating from 5 to 2 and doubt that i will go back again in the future.

we heard of this place a long time ago but just never had the courage to wait in line to just get brunch. surprisingly, we got there at 11am on a saturday and we got seated right away!

the menu is very straight forward with a lot of original combinations. we got theeggsbenedict served on top of pulled pork and a mac and cheese bun! it was accompanied by these unbelievable breakfast potatoes. theeggswere really heavy, i think things would taste better if they had some sort of pop somewhere. but anyways, i still think that it tasted really good. i got the el jefe, i'm not too impressed because it's just a burger bun with an egg, bacon and guacamole. and it's really messy to eat since theeggsjust breaks down. my husband just love breaking yolks so he devoured most of the sandwich.

however, although we got seated right away, it took them almost an hour for us to get our food, but luckily we got to sip on our beautiful cappuccino with a leaf coffee art. my husband got the matcha latte and it's so pretty! and really good too!

breakfast and brunch are a huge deal in montreal. so much so, that there are many restaurants that are dedicated to breakfast alone, and then close for the day around 3 or 4pm. (remember when cora took the rest of the country by storm? they originally began in montreal and follow this same principle.) fabergé is one such a restaurant and it is a beloved spot in mile end to get some morning eats. luckily for me, this place is only about two blocks from my house. to quote their website "one instantly recognizes the soulful vibe of the mile end, the neighbourhood we call home." i couldn't have put it better myself! it's the perfect bright and bustling local spot to fall into on a saturday or sunday morning while out for a stroll. i took special note of this place when i saw them featured on day of gluttony: 24 montreal restaurants in 24 hours.

the wait to get a table can sometimes be lengthy on the weekends, so the earlier that you can manage to show up, the better. they have a small and lovely wooden patio out front in the warmer months and i can't think of a nicer way to get to enjoy breakfast than doing so while taking in the scenes of mile end at the same time. we were lucky enough to nab a spot on said patio, and as such, didn't get to see a whole lot of the restaurant's interior. from what i did see, it's a very busy space with white chairs, purple upholstered benches and interesting mural art on the walls that continues straight up onto the ceiling. the storefront opens up completely to the sidewalk outside. i was happy to sit out in the hot sunshine, even if it was maybe a little bit too hot.

as soon as i found the matcha latte ($5.00) on the menu, i knew that it was the morning beverage for me. hot weather + hot drink be damned! this cup of deliciousness arrived looking positively beautiful, beaming with the unmistakeable colour of green matcha. it was creamy, yet light. finally something different than the typical choices! yum!

there are lots of choices when it comes to breakfast. including le massive, which sounds like the perfect quebecois meal, creton included. and a breakfast poutine that includeseggsand hollandaise. their "signature dish" is chicken & waffles, which i saw someone eating at a nearby table, and it looked incredibly epic. i'd get that the next time! they also offer a bunch of different benedicts. i was drawn immediately to one of the specials that day, the "mac & cheese" benedict (pulled pork, st-paulin cheese & jalapeño gellée - $14.00). i had the friendly server describe the dish to me, just to be sure that we were all on the same page, and boy were we ever! we're talking fried mac & cheese with pulled pork on top, topped with a poached egg, topped with hollandaise. i did not need to consider any further. all of the benedicts are also served with a cup of fruit and potatoes. the moment that i cut into this abomination of nature, i could see the cheesy macaroni noodles that were hiding within the fried round base. the pulled pork was savoury and tender, and theeggswere perfectly cooked with an oozy yolk. i found that the hollandaise seemed to be missing a little something, maybe some lemon? the potatoes were excellent, crispy and fried to perfection. the whole thing was perfectly insane in the best possible way.

i want fabergé to become "our neighbourhood breakfast place." our default on mornings when we don't want to go far and we don't want to make anything ourselves. i loved their vibe and i like where their heads are at when it comes to the food. they'll be seeing more of me!

i really do not get the hype around this place. had an unfortunate opportunity to dine at faberge. absolutely tasteless huevos ranchevos, with the tortilla hard as a rock, rotten tasting guacamole and a cold egg - all of this at a juicy 16$ price tag. are you kidding me? honestly, i wish i had picked cora's on that beautiful morning, despite the fact that cora's is on the very bottom of my "brunch/breakfast places", well i can say with confidence that cora's has moved up one level giving faberge the truthful "no 1. of the worst restaurants for brunch". i honestly thought that this was just my dish that lacked completely in both, presentation and taste, but on the way out of the restaurant i looked at other unfortunate people's dishes and realized that most likely they also tasted just as bad as they looked. this goes for regular breakfast with blend over-easyeggswith unchewable stips of bacon and unattractive pieces of toasted wonderbread and benedicts swarming with tasteless-looking hollandaise sauce on an equally unattractive english muffin. this is when i felt truly relieved, and noted to myself that i would not come back to this overpriced and completely undeserving brunch spot. but you be your own judge at you own risk.

oh, fabergé. i had such high hopes for you. purple seats, attractive clientele, and an intriguing breakfast menu; a superficial girl's paradise. but i guess purple things are not always fabulous. so anyway, here's a sample of the menu: twoeggsany style with bacon, ham, sausage and beans, served with cup of fruit, potatoes and toast (10$) two poached eggs, bed of wild mushrooms and ste-pauline cheese, topped with hollandaise sauce and served on english muffin (11$) omelettes made with twoeggswith a choice of three ingredients (ham, bacon, sausage, caramelised onions, tomatoes, feta, etc.) and served with cup of fruit, potatoes and toast (9$, 1$ for each extra ingredient) a variety of breakfast sandwiches: with egg, ham, bacon, tuna or salmon and served with cup of fruit and potatoes (from 6$ to 12$) fruit cups (from 6$ to 10$) a variety of french toast, crêpes, waffles, and pancakes (from 8$ to 11$) signature dish: homemade cinnamon danish, with french toast batter and a mountain

nice way to start the day. very friendly staff. the owner is almost always on-site, checking on the customers and even offering up free samples. big variety of breakfast foods. theeggsbenedicts (there are too many to talk about) are quite good. also there is a cinnamon bun-turned into-french toast dish that is quite good. the breakfast poutine is interesting, but i'm not a fan of hollandaise (although i do it on benedicts once in a blue moon). a bit noisy at times.

yum!. i work in the plateau and was very happy when this restaurant opened in the area. fabergé has been open since july and i've been multiple times.

with it's urban-chic decor, fabergé really embodies montreal's hipster scene. i love all the sketches of the montreal skyline on the concrete walls. the purple velvet banquettes add a slight "chic" element without being too much.finally a breakfast place that doesnt display tacky chickens and cartoonedeggswith smily faces!

while i admit that the service was a little shaky right after the opening this summer, i saw the potential and was determined to give this place a chance and i'm very glad i did!

some of the more recent improvements that i've noticed are were that they've reconfigured their lounge area to seat more diners, very smart! it gets real packed in there especially on sunday mornings! the other thing i'm really happy they changed is that they got rid of the dj that used to spin on sundays. while i enjoy loud music just as much as the next girl, it may have been a little much for an early sunday morning, they've now opted for a more mellow soundtrack :)

the quality of food served here is excellent. the fruits are super fresh, myeggsare always perfectly fluffy and the lattes are awesome! the staff is great too, i've never had bad service, they're very smiley and energetic.

my favorite item on fabergé's menu has to be the buttermilk pancakes with strawberry compote (red cakes) probably the best pancakes i've ever had!

theeggsin a nest come in at a close second the cheese bread they use is so yummy!

and lastly- the benedicts! have the medditerranean! theeggsare served on top of a phyllo pastry and topped with spinach and feta cheese, kind of like a greek spinach pie (spanakopita) but ina benedict--genius!

fabergé has become on of my favorite spots in the area and i love bringing new people here, we've all had great experiences!

keep it up guys!

eggs in a nest saved my life. decided to have brunch in the plateau last weekend and wanted to try something new. had theeggsin a nest and was delicious - the cheese bread they used was unreal good and really hit the spot (i.e. saved my life after a night of drinking).
all and all an excellent time - vibe and ambience were cool, staff was friendly, and the breakfast hit the spot.
would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
