fantastic brunch!!. went with my good friend to try it out and we were wowed. not a crazy big storefront, but once you pass the curtained entrance it was eclectic and hip in decor. the menu had lots of choices, but i always feel like you should try the specialties or dishes named for the restaurant. i got the french toast served with plain yogurt and honey. the server was very sweet, and suggested her favorite way to eat the dish was without the yogurt but with maple syrup. i preferred the plain yogurt for a nice tang instead and finished every bite even though i typically stay away from sweet dishes for breakfast. my friend got an egg dish with the cheddar bread, which had a great presentation and taste, only making us wish the bread tasted more cheesy. the side of meat came out a few minutes later than our dishes, but still was received in a timely manner. they were in no rush to make us move or eat which was nice, but i could see where if the waitress was in the back, you could feel like a neglected guest. in all, fun decor, twists on classic dishes and a place i will definitely bring friends and familybackto try.

went to fabergé after flying in on the red eye from calgary. it was a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. our server was fantastic. we chatted a bunch and she was attentive and friendly. i went with the breakfast poutine in an attempt to consume as much poutine as possible over the weekend. it was delicious, but a huge serving. i couldn't finish it. my husband had the eggs benny. we loved that it came on a montreal bagel! coffee was great, as was the juice. the interior is pretty big and inviting. i'd definitely gobacknext time i visit montreal. yum!

faberge. have visited a couple of times. they refuse reservations on weekend so they create a line up / waiting line. food is generally good. went there this weekend and the waiter got my order wrong - forgot ingredients i requested in my omelet. it took 40 minutes to get the order. i decided to not send itbackcause i'd have to wait another 40 minutes. the customers around us were not happy about the long wait either. my friend wanted more hot water for her tea but that took 4 requests before getting it. the atmosphere is not calming - as it all a bit too hyper. none the less - the food is good.

i hadn't beenbackin over a year and had a hankering for their breakfast poutine. since i was last there, they reduced the portion size and started charging extra for meat. it was still delicious, but that and a cup of coffee was $18, which seemed a little high. my dining companion ordered the hot chocolate, which was $5 and came as a glass of hot milk and whipped cream with ganache on the side--it was good, but not worth the price. the service was as good as i remember and the server was the one who told me that the portion size was reduced to cut down on waste. i will come back, especially with visitors, but not nearly as often as i used to.

**revised review below my original post**

one of my favorite breakfast places! i will drive across town just to eat here.
the huevos rancheros are awesome and the egg cooked in the cheese bread is also one of my favs.

always great service and i love the cartoons.

wait times tend to be quite long, so going early is best.

i went to fabergé this morning and travelled out of my way across montreal to get there only to find out that they have reduced their menu by a lot and have changed the dishes that are currently on the menu to make room for items like "tofu scramble with spinach, mushrooms, & onions".

the huevos is no longer a meal i would go out of my way to pay 16$ for (the eggs in cheese bread were completely mia), the prices have increased, and the portions served also seem much smaller than before.

their online menu also shows all dishes at 10$ but most are at least 1.5 times that price.

my significant other is a chef so i get that sometimes you need to reduce a menu or change a few things here and there, but this seems to be a very drastic change that completely disappointed me.

i've changed my rating from 5 to 2 and doubt that i will gobackagain in the future.

... i walked in to fabergé through a curtained entrance and stumbled upon white plastic chairs paired with purple velvet which really encapsulated the restaurant and brought out a modernistic vibe. instantly, i could feel its modern coziness. to continue with this dapper feel, there was a flavor-flave clock. as if i could feel any more in the 90s, i was transportedbackto my childhood days with old cartoon classics, like the jetsons, playing on their tvs. oh, the memories. having previewed the menu prior **duh**, i really wanted to have the waffles, but they were out of the batter (not quite sure how that happened for an 11 am meal) . call it bad luck, but the french toast was quite tasty. luckily, the breakfast menu was huge so there were many options to choose from.

i really do not get the hype around this place. had an unfortunate opportunity to dine at faberge. absolutely tasteless huevos ranchevos, with the tortilla hard as a rock, rotten tasting guacamole and a cold egg - all of this at a juicy 16$ price tag. are you kidding me? honestly, i wish i had picked cora's on that beautiful morning, despite the fact that cora's is on the very bottom of my "brunch/breakfast places", well i can say with confidence that cora's has moved up one level giving faberge the truthful "no 1. of the worst restaurants for brunch". i honestly thought that this was just my dish that lacked completely in both, presentation and taste, but on the way out of the restaurant i looked at other unfortunate people's dishes and realized that most likely they also tasted just as bad as they looked. this goes for regular breakfast with blend over-easy eggs with unchewable stips of bacon and unattractive pieces of toasted wonderbread and benedicts swarming with tasteless-looking hollandaise sauce on an equally unattractive english muffin. this is when i felt truly relieved, and noted to myself that i would not comebackto this overpriced and completely undeserving brunch spot. but you be your own judge at you own risk.

yum!. this is my third time at the restaurant and it never fails to please. the service is impeccable. all who work there are really friendly.

i had le massif, which was amazing! the french toast was great! i was full until dinner!

i have to say, though, i wish i had ordered their newest item on the menu, that my two friends had, which i tasted and was sooooo good! it's the breakfast poutine! it has hollandaise sauce instead of gravy, and potato cubes instead of fries.

i have to gobackand have that!

eggs in a nest saved my life. decided to have brunch in the plateau last weekend and wanted to try something new. had the eggs in a nest and was delicious - the cheese bread they used was unreal good and really hit the spot (i.e. saved my life after a night of drinking).
all and all an excellent time - vibe and ambience were cool, staff was friendly, and the breakfast hit the spot.
would definitely gobackand recommend to friends.

dont bother. i have never in my life had such terrible service, or encountered a chef with as little pride in his food or respect for the customer in my life.
my girlfriend and i visited on sunday morning, and encountered loud clubbing music being played by a dj sitting in the corner. the music was obnoxiously loud, and after being asked to take a seat in the "lounge", we contemplated leaving because of how gaudy and tacky the place was. we decided to stay because we were hungry and had already fed the meter.
we were seated at a table for two that was literally glued to our neighbors on both sides, whenever anyone got up, their butt was literally on the plates of the other table, that's how tight it was.
not only did the waitress take a ridiculously long time to take our order, but our coffee and juice came only after hounding the waitress 2 times. after ordering, we sat and waited, watching all of the food come and go from the pass line.
we watched a bagel sandwich go from the pass, to a table (which was not what the patron had ordered) and after he checked it out, he sent itbackwhere it sat on the pass for about ten-fifteen minutes, then was served to my girlfriend along with what i had ordered, one of their signature dishes which was missing the french toast accompaniment (half the dish).
when my girlfriends bagel arrived it had bacon on it, when she specifically ordered it without the bacon, because she is a vegetarian, so we sent it back. the bagel then camebacka few minutes later, but the chef had simply scraped off the bacon from the same bagel, put another slice of cheese to hide the bacon grease, however there was still bacon all over the side dishes.
we sent itbackagain, and it returned, the same plate, the same bagel (with the bacon grease), and the chef had just decided that scrapping off the food that had pieces of bacon on it was a good idea. the plate came back, with about a third of the food, and freezing cold as it was cooked over 30 minutes ago to be served to another table.
meanwhile, i still had not received the half of my dish that was missing. at this point, we had enough and were ready to leave, so i asked for the bill even though nothing was eaten, and they actually charged me for my dish, and left out the bagel.
when speaking with the manager, he didn't even look me in the eye, and spoke down to me as if he thought what the chef had done was acceptable. he refused to admit to any wrong doings on the restaurants part, and tried to change the subject by asking how my meal was. other than the fact that it was cold, that i only received half of it, and i ate only two bites, it was mediocre, poorly cooked and under-seasoned.
all in all, they tried to feed us food that had been man handled by a customer, sat on the pass for over 10 minutes, then tried to feed bacon to my vegetarian girlfriend 3 times, and never brought me my food. the management ended by saying i hope next time it will be better… like we will ever be back.
