first time here but will definitely be coming back! i had thedutchbaby and can honestly say i have never had anything like this in the ottawa-gatineau region! you can tell that they don't sacrifice on quality and the portions were very generous--great value for what it was. very sophisticated flavours but still not pretentious. service was great, the kitchen is extremely clean, and the food was amazing...not to mention their desserts look stunning. love it and can't wait to try another creation!!!

in-grained in the membrane. teensiest lil cafe off the beaten path, definitely limited seeding. as much as i have been kneading to try theirdutchbaby it was a sunny afternoon and decided better off bread on the patio.

i ordered the veggie panini (olive bread pressed with red and yellow peppers, tomatoes, avocado, black olives, goat cheese and cheddar cheese) $6.95. avocado was cumin through the rye! messy! so, so messy! but oh so delicious :) this sandwich was not loafing around and packed some serious cheese! cooled down with some of their home made iced tea. edgar, you definitely know how to steep. please bottle and sell that stuff.

the menu is a chalkboard that changes daily based on seasonal ingredients, so i don't see this cafe going stale anytime soon.

went this morning for breakfast, as we are foodies and like to try different places for brunch. i have seen all of the buzz online for this restaurant so had pretty high hopes for an amazing brunch. the restaurant is a nice little place, and has a good atmosphere. we ordered a drip coffee (good) and a london fog (on the sweet side). my wife ordered the soup du jour (tomato) to start and it was really delicious. i ordered a doughnut hole and it was very good as well. for the mains we ordered thedutchbaby and the salmon croquette. we both found the main breakfasts underwhelming especially for the price. neither of us finished our breakfasts. the reason being that thedutchbaby lacked overall quality of preparation and the croquette was not seasoned very well and was a little on the dry side. the service was good. we would likely not return for breakfast but the lunch menu looks promising. i hope we won't be disappointed for the lunch if we do return.

we went two weekends on a sunday around 11:30. 15 minutes later the line started to form, lucky we beat the rush.

i will admit we actually had breakfast at 7:00am at home, and our intention was to have lunch. when we arrived and saw the plates of breakfast items vs lunch items served ,we knew we were about to have the 2nd breakfast of the day! we had thedutchbaby (wow!), and a mexican egg salsa dish, again wow!
$50 breakfast, but worth every penny. we will be back to enjoy a  meal under the sun on their patio. edit 2 years later: we went back this past weekend, just as amazing as before! yum!

small place small menu..big flavour. hidden gem in gatineau near the college. i wish it was bigger but they have such a great vibe in there. i don't think any where else serves a crazydutchbaby pancakes like they do, think giant sweet yorkshire puddings. gotta see it (taste it) to believe it.

hands down the best bruch in the ottawa area. three menu options, all delicious. thedutchbaby in particular is fantastic. come early as they fill up way too quickly (as is expected with a restaurant with 13 seats).

dutch-o-dutch-o baby. simply too good.
perfect brunch after weekend morning gym classes.

had the luck to be seated at the counter, facing their little kitchen area, watching the food being delivered.
had theirdutchbaby and peameal - both had mouth-watering presentation; each and every element on the plate was just so lovely, and so was the atmosphere in this place.

jay especially loved the veggie base in the peameal dish. so fresh and flavorful.
dee's comment was that he could easily go for another peameal..
and we both were daydreaming having a place just like this while waiting on our food...

the pork belly indutchbaby was a tad try, but didn't kill the joy to be enjoyed at all. lovely sweet crisp on the edge.

so we didn't even try to resist the temptation coming from their sweets and desserts displaying cabinet which was just placed beside us. edgar bar and mini almond cake. they were not something to wow for, but pretty well made and definitely a nice finish for our meal.

would totally return to try other items on their menu.

i ordered thedutchbaby with apple, maple syrup, cheddar cheese, and pork belly, because i just can’t say no to a big chunk of pork belly! i have forgotten how sweet this dish was, with all the sugar and maple syrup. i feel like if you have a huge sweet tooth, you will love this dish. each component of the dish was very well done, but it was just a tad way too sweet for me when it’s all put together. thedutchbaby was delicious, and the pork belly was cooked to perfection. however, it was just too sweet and heavy so i couldn’t finish it and ended up taking some of it home!

edgar-mondavew ordered the new dish – stuffed french toast with kale, bacon and poached eggs. it didn’t look that fantastic when it was served, but when w cut it open and tried it, it’s easily the best dish we’ve had that day! the french toast was stuffed with spicy pancetta, roasted tomatoes, parmesan, havarti, goat cheese, and caramelized shallots. i normally am not a big fan of goat cheese but it worked so we

this is a tiny little place that is as organic as they come! had the mac and cheese. (7/10) pork and pesto sandwich (8/10) and homemade ice cream sandwich. the owner also owns odile which is closing in 2 weeks. owner is burning out! but this little place offers some good food from people who obviously know the 'art' of cooking. try a take out. you won't regret it!

so good!!! almost don't want to post a review because the place is so small and has limited seating. but yum! perfect example of a small menu done right. my table shared thedutchbaby, huevos rancheros, and poached egg. we brought home paninis for the hubbys and they loved them. great friendly service too! only bad side is that its not kid friendly, but theres always the park close by to dine al fresco on a nice day!

simply amazing!. we arrived at edgar around 11:30 am saturday morning to have breakfast/lunch and we were not surprised to see the restaurant completely full to the point where we decided to head to odile. my girlfriend and i had the porc, aged strong cheddardutchbaby and the tex mex breakfast. the coffee is great, the plates are full of flavour and if you feel like having poached eggs to go with yourdutchbaby you just have to ask! they will gladly bring you anything you want and for just about 15$ per person, br3eakfast does not get any better!

quelle surprise! it's a small place but very charming. the staff is friendly and helpful. i had thedutchbaby and wow, the combination of the cheese, maple syrup and ham really work together. for those who are saying that the place is intimidating because of all of the french, don't be, the staff will answer all of your questions! merci marisol, ton restaurant ajoute un 'buzz' dans le quartier :)

edgar is truly a gem. the moment you walk in, you'll feel a great vibe. although the staff and menus are in french, you won't be judged if you prefer to speak english. the staff at edgar are incredibly friendly and extremely attentive to their customers. brunch is a must here. their menu is small (just like the place) and changes weekly. thedutchbaby crepe souffle with pork belly and apple compote is a great choice if you want salty and sweet. if you don't feel like brunch, their soups, sandwiches and pastries are always available. try the beignet du citron, you won't regr

we've been going to edgar ever since it opened. food is creative, delicious, and staff is friendly. we've brought many friends and family here who only have praises for this little gem. the space is cozy and seating is limited. babydutchhas always been my personal favorite because of its wonderful mix of flavours. the desserts are worth taking home for an afternoon coffee. excellent!
