duke's kauai

we sat in the upstairs portion of the restaurant. (a more casual area is downstairs with a menu of burgers, etc.) very large seating area with many tables. some may feel it is too loud and some may feel it is lively and festive. a lot of large families were present. niceviewof the ocean if seated by the windows. food was solid. some people in our party really liked their meal while others thought it was slightly above average. people that ordered the fillet and fish thought they were excellent while the person that ordered the macadamia pesto dish thought it good but a bit heavy. we had a person with food sensitivities/allergies. they were very accommodating and careful with her special diet. she didn't experience any illness after the meal so they must have followed through with her requests. overall, a great experience.

good food, fun atmosphere. went with the family on our last evening in kauai before catching a plane back to the mainland. we all had fish - opa, swordfish & ahi. all were prepared well. underwhelmed by the poke roll. salad bar was good. finished by sharing the hula pie as recommended by waiter. more ice cream and chocolate than 4 people should eat! service was friendly, informative and prompt. note that the restaurant is buried in the marriott complex. valet parking is free for duke's customers. the koi ponds are interesting as would be the beachviewfrom this open air restaurant and bar (bar downstairs). when we were there it was storming so they dropped the tarps to keep the rain out.

must-do in kauai. good seafood, unbeatableviewif you're overlooking the water, good value since entrees include their salad bar. the hula pie is huge but delicious. our waiter was really not very knowledgeable, but he was nice. the drinks were standard for hawaii touristy venues. theviewis really what keeps people coming back.

the coconut shrimp appetizer was a little over cooked. the main course meal a ahi done island style and the lobster tails. both main course meals were great. also theviewwas awesome. overall i felt this was good, but i think i would try someplace else next time i am on kauai.

i got the stir fry and my wife got the mahi mahi. both were good but theviewwas better. overall we enjoyed it.

food was okay,viewwas worth the stop. our party of four stopped in for a quick lunch. we were seated immediately and had a greatviewof the cove, beach and the locals hanging at the beach. the waitress was very friendly, food was reasonably priced. pass on the fish and chips as the breading was much to heavy and the fish tasted worse than mrs. paul's fish sticks. while we all wish we didn't order the huli pie for dessert (with four spoons), it was gone in about 3 minutes. i'd give this place 2 out of 5 stars.

very good salad bar upstairs and theviewis absolutely gorgeous! the food was pretty good as well but a little pricey.

duke's has the bestviewfor beach side dinning. we had poki rolls opah fish and of course hula pie. everything was delicious

fabulousview& great food!. the food at duke's is very, very good and they have a huge selection of fish and a fantasticviewof a quiet little cove in lihue. we had fish tacos and macadamia encrusted opakapaka and both were fantastic!

we will definitely go back on our next visit to kauai.

a great server makes all the diffetence, and can't beat theviewof kalapaki besides the salad bar and fish enterees are awesome. if you don't like fish, try the ribs! oh yah, specialty drinks and hula pie too :)
