duke's kauai

had lunch, the teriyaki burger. it was ok, nothing great. the views were what made it great. the made agreatbloody mary and the service was friendly. would've loved to come fir dinner. free valet service, but it fills up quick.

good food, good drinks, andgreatserver! the hula pie is a must try. i was full but couldn't stop eating the hula pie because it was so delicious. mmm

we sat in the upstairs portion of the restaurant. (a more casual area is downstairs with a menu of burgers, etc.) very large seating area with many tables. some may feel it is too loud and some may feel it is lively and festive. a lot of large families were present. nice view of the ocean if seated by the windows. food was solid. some people in our party really liked their meal while others thought it was slightly above average. people that ordered the fillet and fish thought they were excellent while the person that ordered the macadamia pesto dish thought it good but a bit heavy. we had a person with food sensitivities/allergies. they were very accommodating and careful with her special diet. she didn't experience any illness after the meal so they must have followed through with her requests. overall, agreatexperience.

i've been to dukes twice now for two consecutive trips to hawaii and both times they have producedgreatfood and drinks!

food: we had our last night at dukes and i had the chicken burger while my partner had the cheeseburger. both were excellent and we wished we had eaten here more! fish tacos are also amazing :)

drinks: jesse makes the best cocktails and gives the best service. we recommend the hawaiian ice tea! thank you !!

terrible service. we wanted to get a table by the beach since it was our anniversary- so called ahead in the morning to make a reservation for that- and was told we could be seated at 6:15. arrived - parked- got to the restaurant and was told to wait- which would have been fine for a few minutes- but 10 minutes later i was wondering why the table that i called to reserve would not be ready. went up to the receiving desk and they said "oh- we can seat you now. i had a funny feeling about it because i overheard a gentleman complaining about his reservation and the employees saying they don't guarantee any table even with reservation. sure enough- we get seated at a random table no where near the ocean. i asked why a table i called and requested- or at least the general area was. not reserved for us. she said they do not guarantee that . but i said- "no one told me that- i specifically asked for a oceanside table and they never said that wasn't what i'd be getting." we had driven from the other end of the island to have dinner here and no one was willing to apologize for the misunderstanding- they just said- " well they were supposed to tell you that." we were both so disappointed in the lack of customer service that we just left- without eating there. had i not made reservations- i would have been seated i. the same amount of time at the same table. since i went to the trouble of calling and making a reservation - i expected to get a little better treatment- and a table in the area i requested. the policy was never explained to me.

there's a lot of reallygreatrestaurants on this island- i never complain about restaurants- but this was the worst experience of my whole stay .

good food.greatvenue. we have eaten at most of their restaurants. always agreatmeal. portions are large. eat downstairs and you can order off either menu. save room for the hula pie.

venture out to find some better food. very slow service, and the food isn't anything to get excited over. there are a million other local places that would give you fresher, more authentic island cuisine. location to the water isgreatthough, if you are looking to wander up for a drink from the beach!

service was excellent.greatplace for dinner overlooking the beach. the atmosphere was wonderful and the food was good.

definately your best bet in the marriott kalapaki bay resort area--great food, drinks,greatview,greatatmosphere. and not as high priced as the hotel restaurants.

extremely overpriced for what you get. i had the fish and to be honest it wasn't all that great. the atmosphere is wonderful and the employees aregreathowever i should have just stuck with the salad bar!!! many other places to eat if you're looking forgreatfood.

best of hawaii.greatfood. fabulous atmosphere. you won't be dissapointed.greatmahi mahi and mai tais.

ate downstairs next to the waterfalls and koi pond. had fish and chips for dinner. calamari and maui onion soup.greatfood and atmosphere.

service from bartender evan was excellent!!! agreatway to spend our night. food was reasonably priced and delicious. drinks were strong!! we left full, and happy :)
