had lunch, the teriyaki burger. it was ok, nothing great. the views were what made it great. the made a great bloody mary and theservicewas friendly. would've loved to come fir dinner. free valet service, but it fills up quick.

duke's no longer a favorite place. sadly, i'll have to take duke's off our "to-go" places. i was first introduced to this franchise in 90's. yes, it is obviously kitschy and a tourist trap. but the portions were large (along with the price) and theservicewas excellent. sadly, they've discovered that neither matters since people will come anyway. we waited an abnormally long time for the waiter to show up to take our order. i ordered my dad the very expensive lobster (twin) tail dinner. they were so tiny that my mom had to give him some of her pasta since he was still hungry afterwards. and the endless salad bar included with each meal has gone away. now, it's a $3 surcharge. it was fun and i had good memories, but the last one was the killer.

good food, fun atmosphere. went with the family on our last evening in kauai before catching a plane back to the mainland. we all had fish - opa, swordfish & ahi. all were prepared well. underwhelmed by the poke roll. salad bar was good. finished by sharing the hula pie as recommended by waiter. more ice cream and chocolate than 4 people should eat!servicewas friendly, informative and prompt. note that the restaurant is buried in the marriott complex. valet parking is free for duke's customers. the koi ponds are interesting as would be the beach view from this open air restaurant and bar (bar downstairs). when we were there it was storming so they dropped the tarps to keep the rain out.

my wife and i had the best fish dinner ever!! it was fantastic. theserviceis also awesome. i highly recommend this place.

terrible service. we wanted to get a table by the beach since it was our anniversary- so called ahead in the morning to make a reservation for that- and was told we could be seated at 6:15. arrived - parked- got to the restaurant and was told to wait- which would have been fine for a few minutes- but 10 minutes later i was wondering why the table that i called to reserve would not be ready. went up to the receiving desk and they said "oh- we can seat you now. i had a funny feeling about it because i overheard a gentleman complaining about his reservation and the employees saying they don't guarantee any table even with reservation. sure enough- we get seated at a random table no where near the ocean. i asked why a table i called and requested- or at least the general area was. not reserved for us. she said they do not guarantee that . but i said- "no one told me that- i specifically asked for a oceanside table and they never said that wasn't what i'd be getting." we had driven from the other end of the island to have dinner here and no one was willing to apologize for the misunderstanding- they just said- " well they were supposed to tell you that." we were both so disappointed in the lack of customerservicethat we just left- without eating there. had i not made reservations- i would have been seated i. the same amount of time at the same table. since i went to the trouble of calling and making a reservation - i expected to get a little better treatment- and a table in the area i requested. the policy was never explained to me.

there's a lot of really great restaurants on this island- i never complain about restaurants- but this was the worst experience of my whole stay .

great spot! the ambiance andservicewas excellent. we had the filet herb chevre and seared ahi tuna and our children had ribs and chicken off the kids menu. food was outstanding! followed by a piece of hula pie (mac nut ice cream mud pie)...unbelievable!

boring. ate here twice on our trip. first night had the chicken/steak shishkabob meal, the chicken was very dry and the steak cooked to a gray without really any char or contrast in the meat. the ingredients were quality but the preparation was nothing out of the ordinary, probably just a splash or marinade of soy. the mashed potatoes were the best best part of the meal but the portion was very skimpy.
everyone raves about the salad bar but it was really quite plain, nothing at all exotic or really flavorful, some nice pineapple and melon.
next time i tried grilled fish, think they called it hawaiian or local preparation. seemed barely grilled at all but really dry and tasteless, the pineapple sauce was way too sweet and my first reaction was blame myself, why did i order this? others in my party had fish prepared firecracker style, it was good, and baked, that was really good too.
wine list was ok, but the single glass pours were small.
the hulu pie desert was just ok.
theserviceranged from overly cheery and pushy to indifferent and slow.
showy touristy kind of place, people come for the location, the food is overpriced and not well executed.

kind of disappointing. we had to send our steak back since it was over cooked.servicewas fair.
