this cafe has been a beacon of canberra food scene for a very long time amazing breakfast, lunches and creative creations from head chef damien and his team. recommend thisplaceto anyone visiting or residing in canberra 5 stars.

this cafe is located on hopetoun circuit. it was doing a roaring trade both in dine in and takeaway. they were still doing takeaway containers only with plastic cutlery and takeaway cups too. you’ll need toplaceyour order up at the counter and make payment there. if you choose to dine in you’ll need to get them to seat you due to current restrictions.

although dining in with cardboard containers was not as glamorous with proper crockery and cutlery, eggs benedict with pialligo bacon was still a tasty meal. the poached eggs were done well and the dish had a lovely taste to it. the bacon was crisp. i had a lovely belgian milk hot chocolate which was sweet and creamy.

nice enough, but two smoothies and a mug of coffee was twenty eight dollars...😳 i wouldn't choose thisplacefirst out of several other nice places in the area. that sunday surcharge is a bit rich considering how intensely busy they are and the price of the food, i am sure they can afford to pay their staff penalty rates...

would recommend thisplaceto anyone! i always go out of my way to pop in for a meal when i am back in canberra. last time i visited it was a busy saturday morning but the lovely waiter welcomed us and immediately started organising a table for six of us - very impressive! good service goes along way and they seem to know that at double shot... to top it all off the menu is broad and the food is fresh, modern and absolutely delicious.

double shot's sign says 'i wake up wanting to kiss you' and if you could kiss a café, that's just what we'd be saying about it. they do great breakfast, especially the acai and muesli bowls. really colourful, really healthy and super fast service. not a badplacefor coffee either. one to check out.

very ordinary. burnt toast, flavourless mushrooms, poached eggs were ok but the bacon was meh. coffees also ordinary - drinkable but somewhat burnt. the service was pretty bad. waited ages to be seated after confusion about how to get on the list (which was fine as it was a saturday morning and my first time there) but then they took ages to take our orders.  i had trouble flagging down a waitress to request butter for my toast, and then was given what i believe was margarine (crime against flavour!!!). took forever to get out of theplacetoo as it was just total chaos with people from inside lining up to pay in a disorganised clump and constantly being queue-jumped by people from outside also trying to pay. they really need some good communication and organisation. i won't be back.

love this place. it's great for breakfast and lunch. love the decor and the service is great too. my favouriteplaceon sundays. what more can you say about a great café

not great. made a booking which was lost, very unorganised and food was very average. i used to love thisplacebut wouldn't return after today. what happened?

horrendous service, stuck up staff, and deplorable food. wouldn't recommend thisplaceto anyone, the food was average and way overpriced, the staff rude and obnoxious and they gave priority to people who were obviously their mates! this sort of selective service shouldnt exist in any cafe or small business for that matter. 0/10 do not bother

breakfast. two eggs, a piece of bacon, a small hard cardboard piece of sourdough looked very lonely on my plate (+tea). happy to pay for good food but let down when i paid $25 for what i think they should be charging $12(-tea).
service was quick and tea was good. some small changes would help thisplacego along way however, i don't think ill be going back.

thisplacewould be perfect if they got rid of the soggy french fries and replaced with crunchy rustic hand cut chips.

loved the new interior design. staff were friendly and food in good time. was ok - had the papaya salad with lamb. the lamb was exceptional but the salad while very good taste could have been crunchier and less soggy ~ just go a bit easier on the blanching? but i would definitely go again.

a++ for food, service & dating. upon arrival i was greeted by the super friendly staff. while i waited for my friend to arrive it was so great to see what an amazing atmosphere doubleshot has not only in its design but the atmosphere created by the staff!
it is so great to see just how well the staff members get along with each other. so often you see staff that don't communicate efficiently and don't look as though they're enjoying their work environment. at doubleshot however the staff were constantly smiling, joking around and occasionally the odd singing (which definitely brightened my day).
the food not only is an artwork in itself but also tastes incredible! definitely aplaceto go to give your taste buds a treat.
annnnnnd i also got asked on a date... so i suppose it's the perfectplaceto go to find a potential lover ;)
highly recommend!

appalling customer service. to the 70+ year old senior citizens whom i took out for an enjoyable cup of tea/coffee because i thought i'd give thisplacea second chance, and it was close to work, i apologise. yes, food is ok and the coffee/cake is acceptable. yes, a nice outdoor area. but a big no to some senior? staff, and one of the coffee makers in this place. attitude. smugness. rudeness. if you don't like the job, get out and give it to someone who will appreciate and understand just how important it is to give great customer service, 100% of the time, to everyone. i sincerely hope we weren't treated differently because we didn't fit into your ideal gen y, gen rich, clientele base.

what a joke!!!!! one of the.... what a joke!!!!!
one of the so-called supervisors in thisplaceseems to have missed the "customer service" class in hospitality school. he acts all cool, but doesn't realise people want friendly staff, good manners and good food. i was so terribly embarrassed when the staff member walked off in a huff when i asked for clean cutlery. is this what service is about these days? someone needs to tell omar muscat he should employ good, happy staff, not staff with a stinking attitude. never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what a hidden gem!. canberra needs more places like this! from the decor, to the staff, to the menu, double shot never disappoints!

firstly i want to comment on the coffee. i love my coffee and usually order a long black. when you drink a long black you need the coffee to taste amazing. double shot is one of only a few places in canberra where the long blacks taste great and i do not have to order a side of dairy to "fix" the taste.

being mostly a paleo eater i often find it hard to find a menu that caters for my requirements. when you don't eat grains it can be tough! double shot's paleo breakfast always hits the spot! and when i feel like something a little different, the salmon gravlax is simply perfect! add some poached eggs and i am one happy lady.

if you are after a delicious light lunch, then you must try their salads. choose your protein depending on what you like (barramundi for me!) and you walk away satisfied! and the bonus? you are looking after your health too! all those hipster super foods are featured right the way throughout their new menu.

are you a fan of raw, vegan, refined sugar free treats? then, once again, double shot has got you covered. there is always something new on offer and at the moment i think it is something like a raw vegan chocolate/caramel slice? yum!

the staff are always super friendly and given how busy thisplaceis, they do a wonderful job! the fit out is very hip, think wood features and hanging plants, which makes for a very chilledplaceto sit back and switch off. not to mention comfortable bench seats and cushions which allow you to really "sink in".

i have thoroughly enjoyed every double shot experience to date and am always busting to go back. thanks for looking after my taste buds and my health guys!
