food is overpriced for what it is, had the eggs benedict and it was basic. coffees did not arrive until well after the end of the meal and ended up being the wrong coffee order, waited again for the right order and the coffee tasted very bitter and was unable to drink it. couldn’t be bothered sending itbackbecause we had already waited so long for it.
one of the servers bought us 2 different lots of meals that weren’t ours and then delivered our meals to someone else.
very disappointed as we don’t often eat out and it was a treat for us.

food was nice but i found service very rude, food came out at different times, orders were wrong, no apology. also we had a booking but still waited 20 mins for table. was a busy day but still will not gobackas found the whole experience very bad and not worth the money

would recommend this place to anyone! i always go out of my way to pop in for a meal when i ambackin canberra. last time i visited it was a busy saturday morning but the lovely waiter welcomed us and immediately started organising a table for six of us - very impressive! good service goes along way and they seem to know that at double shot... to top it all off the menu is broad and the food is fresh, modern and absolutely delicious.

there's only one waitress who was running around, giving her best service, taking order and asking how the meals were, she's so friendly and kind that she made me feel like i had known her from somewhere else (i didn't, she's just super friendly). she said that she could never figure out which cutlery go well with hotcake so she gave me all three (spoon, fork and knife), now that's when she made an impression to me. the rest of the waiter/waitress were not even keen in even doing their basic job.

coffee wasn't anything special and was served luke warm. food on the other hand was really really good. my husband has always been particular with serving size and this time he thinks he got a good value for the $. his pasta's size was generous but i think my hotcake's size was a bit small.

other than that, the atmosphere was really nice. i loved how they have different kinds of outdoor table. you can clearly see the contrast between this cafe and the one next door. double shot was fully packed while there was literally nobody in the next door cafe.

in conclusion, please improve on table service (other than the friendly aussie lady waitress with ponytail of course), adjust the size of food's size and come on, please improve your coffee coz i'd really like to comebackagain but there are other much better coffee choices in canberra :)

i very rarely take any of my leave in canberra, so when i do, i always struggle to decide where to eat out! after much deliberation, i organised to meet a friend at double shot in deakin for a long lunch. i’m always impressed with the friendly service here, and this visit was no exception. we were shown to a cozy table in thebackhalf of the restaurant, and i ordered the soft shell crab burger ($23), which has tempura crab, wasabi slaw and microherbs on a brioche bun. the burger was huge and had a huge serving of fries with it, so already winning on the value front. the brioche was a

food is the saviour here - everything was delicious and good quality. decor is great but service can use a lot of work. prices are also maybe 10-15% too high ($70 for brekkie for 2 is getting ridiculous). the menu has so many great options that i'll bebackto try. a serious negative about one dish though was that the sourdough toast wasn't able to be cut!! if you serve eggs on toast, you need to be able to cut the toast to eat it. otherwise, loved both dishes and the juice was delicious too.

having meant to gobacksooner, i realised it had been over a year since my last visit to double shot in deakin. i finally returned to double shot last week, during the christmas/new year shut down period, as it was one of the few eateries that remained open in canberra. the menu had so many delicious sounding items on it for both breakfast and lunch. i know i will bebackto try out more dishes. it was a slightly cool morning and i had mistakenly left my cardigan at home, so breakfast of the moroccan baked eggs ($18) was a must. while waiting for a table, i had seen the dish come out of the kitchen and it looked fantastic. the baked eggs consisted of tomato sugo, zucchini, pearl cous cous and was served with turkish bread. i decided to add a side of potato rosti ($4) too. i really loved this dish. the pearl cous cous gave it extra oomph and i found i liked it better than beans (the usual partner in crime to baked eggs) which can be a bit too heavy. the egg yolk was runny spilling into the rest of the dish. i found the turkish bread a tad dry for my liking but the tomato sugo made up for it.

went there for a bite to eat only, i was told of " the days special " chicken pie in a pot it came with small amount of shredded salad and fine sliced potatoes fried i said yes without asking or being told the cost? the pot was about 125mm & it wasn't full to the top either.

the bill was $26.00 i though it would have been 16$ but on reflection i didn't ask, be warned

what a hidden gem!. canberra needs more places like this! from the decor, to the staff, to the menu, double shot never disappoints!

firstly i want to comment on the coffee. i love my coffee and usually order a long black. when you drink a long black you need the coffee to taste amazing. double shot is one of only a few places in canberra where the long blacks taste great and i do not have to order a side of dairy to "fix" the taste.

being mostly a paleo eater i often find it hard to find a menu that caters for my requirements. when you don't eat grains it can be tough! double shot's paleo breakfast always hits the spot! and when i feel like something a little different, the salmon gravlax is simply perfect! add some poached eggs and i am one happy lady.

if you are after a delicious light lunch, then you must try their salads. choose your protein depending on what you like (barramundi for me!) and you walk away satisfied! and the bonus? you are looking after your health too! all those hipster super foods are featured right the way throughout their new menu.

are you a fan of raw, vegan, refined sugar free treats? then, once again, double shot has got you covered. there is always something new on offer and at the moment i think it is something like a raw vegan chocolate/caramel slice? yum!

the staff are always super friendly and given how busy this place is, they do a wonderful job! the fit out is very hip, think wood features and hanging plants, which makes for a very chilled place to sitbackand switch off. not to mention comfortable bench seats and cushions which allow you to really "sink in".

i have thoroughly enjoyed every double shot experience to date and am always busting to go back. thanks for looking after my taste buds and my health guys!

disappointed. my friend and i had high hopes for double shot, as the menu online looked awesome. she ordered the 'paleo'. when it came out, it was evidently just what a very modest big breakfast should encompass, just with no toast (leaving two sad little eggs to leak their golden insides onto an empty plate), and yet it was the most expensive breakfast on the menu at $19. my bircher muesli was a gluey mix of milk, yoghurt, and what tasted and felt exactly like uncle toby's quick oats, with only a tiny sprinkling of pepitas and dried fruit on top and a few slivers of grated apple (for $14). much left to be desired, won't bebackin a hurry. the service was lovely, though.

second chance blown - cyclists disappointed again. after trying this coffee shop once before with a group of cycling mates a couple of months ago and being abused because we complained about the 'no splitting bills policy' because cyclists have difficulty always carrying the correct change, we went again today to give this business a second chance. the owner met us and kindly explained the 'no-splitting' policy for which we were most grateful. however, while the coffee was great, the service and bill presentation left a lot to be desired as follows:
1. we were billed for 7 coffees even though there were only 6 of us and this was in spite of the waitress going over the order twice - in the end the guys who wanted skinny flat whites gave up and just ordered normal flat whites;
2. we were charged a dollar extra for 'soy' coffee - never heard to this before at any coffee shop;
3. one coffee was only luke warm by the time it arrived; and
4. the bill had an entry "6 mugs" x 50 cents added on presumably because we all had large cups - why can't the bill just show the amount for a large coffee?

i will have a bit of difficulty getting my mates to return to double shot.

cyclists don't bother. tried double shot as an alternative to our regular after-ride stop with five other cycling mates last week. when we went to pay we were told 'no bill splitting' - the only coffee shop in australia i've found where this is the case. when we complained and indicated our disappointment we were told by the owner barrister, "well don't comebackthen".
pity because the coffee and the service was good.
so, cyclists, don't bother to make this your regular stop - we're clearly not welcome and they don't understand how difficult it is to know what your exact costs are in advance.

too noisy !!!. guys, don't confuse loud music with a creating a great atmosphere for your clients. it's not about what the staff want to hear or need to get through a shift after a hard night out.

it was so noisy, did you hear me, noisy !, my guest and i resorted to lip reading and saying, "what was that?".

the order was incorrect because the waitress couldn't hear us properly. two staff did nothing when asked to lower the sound.

coffee and food is quite good, but why bother goingbackwhen you have to fight the staff over something as simple as music volume.

lovely food, uneven service. we haven't had a meal at the new double shot so today was the day. we sat in the semi-outside area (that is in the arcade) which is a little quieter than inside. inside is noisier than we would like. two of us has one of the salads with grilled barramundi and it was lovely. the fish and chips were proclaimed good too. our main problem was to do with service. we ordered wine, sparkling and a fresh orange juice. they all came out except the juice. after some time we asked about it, and the server camebackand said it had got lost but she put in an order to it to be done high priority. it still didn't come until another reminder and the diner had pretty well finished his food. the same diner also asked about an ingredient on the menu. when the server didn't know, we presumed she'd check and tell us when she camebackto take the order, but when she camebackshe still didn't know, so had to go away again. we don't mind servers, particularly in a casual dining place, not knowing everything but we would expect them to find out.

we'll definitely go back, but while casual and friendly is nice, the service could have been a bit more attentive on the day. it was not over busy when we arrived - in fact we were the first ones to sit in our section of the restaurant.

good noshery. nice burger and juice yesterday - despite the hot afternoon the a/c was comfortable inside - thebackdeck was also a good option in the breeze.

yum!. i have been to this place a couple of times now and have enjoyed it every time! so far i've had the, fish&chips, meatballs, toast w nutella&peanut butter ;), banana bread (with some kind of delicious homemade butter) and i've also had multiple toasties...crunchy on the outside and delicious and cheesy on the inside :)
i'd definitely recommend this place.........i'll beback(maybe next time i'll get one of their 'healthy choice' options, rereading my review i feel i may have overindulged in the past!!!!!)
