we are regulars!. i've read the other reviews that say the service is very slow and the prices are a little high. that's true. but that's the only thing i'd change about thisplace- the food is amazing. they make most of it from scratch (including french fries and ranch dressing), and you can just tell that they cook with love and care about what they serve. this is our favorite restaurant in town - we recommend the philly cheese steak sandwich.

to avoid the long wait, we usually call ahead and get our food to go!

beer is good. food was ok. i had the giant pretzel with sausage and cheese. thought the sausage was dry and the pretzel was greasy. beer however was excellent.placeitself was small and cramped...no reason to come here for the food but many reasons for the awesome beer.

good food, but beware the service!. we eat at the dodging duck maybe once a month. but, this is not aplaceto go if you're in a hurry. the food is always pretty good, we love the sausage plate and chicken bandilleros. the beer is always really good as well. the problem is that the staff is kind of awful. they are all sweet enough, but not really experienced servers. you will wait to get your drinks refilled and your check. it is pretty common for the servers to disappear for awhile. also, they do not make the desserts, the boerne cooking college students make them. sometimes they are amazing, had a pumpkin cheesecake last week that was awesome, and sometimes they are under or over cooked and pretty bad. overall, we like the food enough to know that we just need to give ourselves ample time to eat there and keep our cool with the staff.

food was excellent...service, well.... went to the dodging duck brewhaus on friday afternoon.

staff seemed friendly, even though i'm a "brown" person, i was called 'sir' so i doubt there are any raging racists working here, unless they have the evening shift. i don't know what the circumstances surrounding the other "non-whites" feeling "profiled" were at this place, but i didn't pick up that vibe.

the one odd thing that i did pick up though was the waitstaff's indifference. my partner and i ordered our drinks--i ordered iced tea, my partner ordered apple cider. when the drinks arrived, i got my iced tea, and my partner received an apple cider beer. now, he didn't order beer, he ordered apple cider. when the waitress came back, he told her that he had requested apple cider and she agreed that it was her mistake for not informing him that what he received was in fact beer, so he ordered plain water instead.

the antelope burger ($11.95) is very good...just know that it comes by itself, you have to pay an additional $1.00 if you want fries. the waitress actually told my partner that could pick a side, so we assumed that it came with the burger, not have to pay extra for it. another example of the lackluster service. i don't know, maybe the wait staff is told to do things such as this in order to improve sales, but judging by all the negative responses on sites such as urban spoon, not everybody is willing to give thisplacea second chance.

when the bill arrives, the apple cider beer is still listed ($6.00) . i don't bother to make a scene, bill gets paid, we leave, and i decide on what exactly i'm going to say in my review.

typically, when a mistake happens, the restaurant usually takes it off of the bill. he ordered apple cider, not apple cider beer. he took one sip and sent it back. clearly she made the mistake but didn't own up to it. i wonder if the waitstaff has to pay the restaurant if a customer returns something? that's about the only excuse that i can think of as to why waitstaff does things such as this.

the waitstaff at thisplacedon't seem too interested in inquiring or offering the customers any additional information...it's like they're there doing their job and any additional duties (such as customer service) don't really matter.

our waitress was very nice and friendly. she did come by and refill my iced tea when she saw my empty glass. i just think that customers have to be on their toes at this place.

the food is good though, at least what we ordered--hill country sausage plate and the antelope burger. the atmosphere was nice and friendly--if you go, sit outside and watch the ducks across the street. the only negative of sitting outdoors are the flies.

my wife and i were starving and stepped into thisplaceto eat. we were greeted with texana decor and an amazing selection of music (mumford and sons, modest mouse, florence and the machine etc). i ordered an antelope burger and a doppelbock. the beer was really nice, full bodied, slightly malty with a caramel finish. being my first experience with antelope, i found it to be really pleasant. my wife said the tortilla soup was "the most amazing tortilla soup i've ever had in my life."
highly recommend!

great for tourists. as a tourist, this was a greatplaceto try in boerne. their food is awesome and an unusual variety - sausage plates, philly cheese steaks and thai lettuce wraps, for example.
i'd love to have had the chance to eat there twice to try a few other things. lots of flavor. the chorizo nachos app was great too!

avoid. mediocre food. the fries were limp and barely warm. the fish was hard to cut. the burgers were decent.

the service was atrocious. after ordering, we waited for over an hour while watching all the customers around us being served quickly. other customers came, ate, and left while we were waiting. we did notice that the staff and all the other customers were white. we suspect this may just not be a goodplacefor brown people to eat. everyone else appeared to get service and food much quicker than us. we rarely saw our waitress. we had to get our own to go containers and hunt her down in order to pay. we will not be dining here again.

the art on the walls was cool. not worth a visit though, especially not if you're brown.

use to be my fav!. for a long time, dodging duck was my go-toplacein boerne. great salads, great fish, great steak, great pretzels & definitely great potato salad. the last few trips changed that for me. they've changed their menu a little bit, and not for the good... the quality of the food isn't as good, the service has gotten worse, and the last waitress we had was just down right rude. my husband and i ordered pecan pie, it came in a mason jar and was about $10. it apparently had some time of liquor in it, that failed to cook off and the entire thing tasted like a straight shot. very disappointing. i've since move from boerne and i might venture in on a visit, but it's unlikely.

bestplacein boerne!. i crave dodging duck!!! a family owned and operated micro-brew, loaded with hill country charm. just about everything is fresh to order, so it takes a minute for most items. (if you're in a hurry, go with soup and salad...delicious!) the entrees are absolutely worth the wait. love their wine selection and house made beers! friendly staff, fantastic food, awesome environment. wish i could rate it 10 stars......in fact, i think i'll go there right now :) see you there!

food is decent. i like their fish n chips. view isn't really that good - it's across the street from the river with ducks. service has been lacking at times. but what's different about thisplaceis that they brew their own craft beer. they change seasonally and i think they usually have 4 different ones on tap. get the ducks in a row to sample all 4 for $6. then pick your fave and get the half pint for $3 or pint for $5.

these people are delusional. nothing more than an overpriced, over-hyped "soup/sandwich" place. i'm not opposed to paying a little extra for "ambiance", but thisplaceis ridiculously cramped and the staff is extremely rude and unhelpful. the food is plain, and i could practically dig a hole to china and climb back in time for it to arrive. (especially annoying when they aren't actually cooking much of their menu) didn't have a beer, but by the time i left, i sure needed one. avoid like the plague - failed attempt at a tourist spot.

great casualplaceto sit outside. we love to come here for a casual meal. the beer is really good, and there's a lot of variety on the menu. i'm a vegetarian and can always find a lot of options on the menu, and there are great options for my carnivore spouse too! service tends to be a little slow but it is still a greatplacefor a laid-back meal.
