greeted with friendly staff and we didn’t have to wait long to make our order. food also came out in a timely manner. we ordered the beef ragu lasagna, pizzadocand spek which tasted amazing. #pizza #italian

the vibe is probably the best part of this place. the pizzas are pretty good- decent size and typically italian. fresh ingredients, good dough. decent wine list and all produce visually fresh and tasty. but probably over priced for what it is. and don't expect any niceties. in fact the default is general rudeness and arrogance from the staff. that goes for carlton espresso anddocin carlton also. it's fine the first time. then it gets a bit tired and long in the tooth-loses it's je ne sais quoi.

the good bit is that the providore is one of the best in town. fabulous salamis, cheeses and deli delights to make up for the unwelcoming attitude you get each time.

and still, we go. the food is good, the wine is good, it's consistent, clean and fresh.

we have visiteddocin carlton and albert park so had high expectations of this visit but were bitterly disappointed. from the second we sat down we felt as if they just wanted to rush us out and seat the next lot of people. the pizzas tasted like they had been prepared or even cooked hours before and almost reheated. while the lasagne was delicious- one serve was about half the size of the other. no care or pride and really disappointing

coffee at d.o.c.. i haven't been todocfor some time. the last time i went i asked the waiter did they have full cream milk for my coffee and could he ensure that this was used in the coffee - low fat milk affects my digestive system. he assured medochad full cream milk. when the coffee came, it clearly had low-fat milk. when i challenged the waiter he agreed they only used low-fat milk, but what was the difference anyway!! he also said it was a policy of lavazza to only have low-fat (or soy milk) with their coffee. his attitude was pretty much endorsed by the manager. i don't like being lied to and will never go back to doc.

the mornington addition to thedocfamily is part-restaurant, part-deli, part-produce store, meaning it stocks everything needed to satisfy an italian food lover (just look at that pasta aisle 🙌🙌🙌). after a little too much imbibing the night before i was in the mood for some carby comfort food, and doc's lasagne more than delivered. my pasta-ner-in-crime described it as 'nonna-y', and i don't think there's a higher compliment you can pay a bowl of pasta. oh, and if you can't dine in, you can take some of their fresh pasta home with you. win-win.

"hello? hi.. hey can we get a table ? ah excuse me is this ... never mind" i've been todoc3 times in my life , 2 of which i have walked out due to the worst service experiences i have ever encountered (mornington and carlton inclusive). they just don't seem to give a dam. the one time i did stand around long enough for them to begrudgingly take my money, i had the pizza thrown down in front of me and demanded to pay the second i finished as it was 'peak' times. i so not recommended this place. 1 star even though the pizza is good.

wonderful pizza, absolutely can’t fault it. in my opinion, it’s better than sister’s pizzeriadoccarlton.
the restaurant itself is really nice looking, busy bit still welcoming and cozy. staff is friendly, attentive and efficient.
i was so busy eating and enjoying the experience that i forgot to take photos.

we had thedocantipasto platter and a lasagna. the antipasto platter was ok, nothing too special.
the lasagna was over cooked and lacked flavor. if i was to return i’d probably only try the pizza.

honestly love thedocin carlton so decided to try out the one in mornington which we have been to previously and loved about two years ago.
let me say the food is beautiful and that is the only thing redeeming my review, i can’t fault the food and that is the only reason i would ever come back.
the service was horrible i can’t even describe the way in which it was either, it’s not as though they take a lot of time, wait time was fine but it was their whole attitude which really let down the experience
i was celebrating my 21st and the service i received and my family received was just not on. the staff are quite rude and act above you, definitely something which i despise in hospitality. it is as if they believe that because their business is booming that they do not have to give customer service which is what makes up part of the package when going out for a meal
hopefully this can be considered as an attitude shake up because by the other reviews left here i can see it is a regular occurrence and not just my own experience.

food is great, atmosphere is really nice and at a great location. what really lets them down is their staff, they are rude and snobby and give off the vibe that they think they are better than everyone. they are quick to get rid of you once you’ve finished eating just so they can make more money. i had a really awful experience where i made a phone order and repeated to the man 3 times what i wanted and i arrived to pick it up and they made the wrong thing, the woman was extremely rude saying that i did order what they made when she wasn’t even the one i spoke to on the phone, the way the staff went about it was very rude and belittling. i used to go todocfrequently and just looked past the attitude of the staff but after this encounter i doubt i will return.

i'm actually so disappointed that i'm leaving this review because my past experiences ofdocmornington anddocin carlton have been great both in terms of food and service, but yesterday was a completely different story. i walked intodocwith my mother at about 1.30pm to celebrate a job offer i had just received, we stood at the counter next to the sign that says 'please wait to be seated'. there were plenty of vacant tables inside and outside on the terrace. there were two ladies behind the counter chatting amongst themselves who did not acknowledge us at all, i thought that was rude but continued waiting anyway. another 5 minutes went by when we thought one of the wait staff was finally approaching us but he made eye contact briefly, looked away and started having a laugh and a chat with the ladies behind the counter in front of us. upon realising we were being blatantly ignored by the staff we left and had lunch across the street at boyz 4 breakie where the service and food were amazing but not what we wanted when we haddocin mind and didn't quite get the bad taste of the rudeness their staff left in our mouths. like i said, all previous experiences withdochave been great and i was really looking forward to dining here but i definitely won't be coming back to be ignored like that again.

a family lunch on australia day was a fantastic treat atdocmornington.  the restaurant was absolutely packed and i expected slow service in response to the sheer number of patrons.  instead we had fantastic, prompt service and great food.  we shared two antipasto boards between 6 (the perfect amount although i could have used more bread!) and then had a pizza each.  my salsiccia pizza was fantastic! the base was crisp and perfectly cooked, spread with a thin layer of broccoli paste and dolloped with sausage meat.  all the other pizzas and the table were similarly delicious (i may have tasted them all!) this is a fast paced, well run and classy italian pizzeria for the whole family.

my boyfriend and i visiteddocyesterday. the restaurant was busy but luckily, we saw a few empty tables outside. we attempted to go in and made our way towards the outside area. we were met by a waiter who abruptly snapped at me to "wait over there!" and pointed to an unsigned location one metre from where we stood. a little put off, we stood where he directed. shortly afterwards, he attended to us and my boyfriend asked for a table outside suggesting a table that we'd seen. he again rudely snapped "let me do my job!" at which point, we'd had enough of his hostility and left. terrible customer service. even if it's busy, there's no need to be so rude.

loved the crispy airy crust, perfectly thin base and quality toppings - woodfire pizza done really well! most impressed by the pizzadocwith its fresh buffalo mozzarella, a flavoursome tomato base and generously topped with freshly picked basil leaves. unfortunately, the salad and dessert pizza didn’t live up to the main pizzas. the farro salad lacked seasoning and would’ve benefited from something to cut through its oiliness. the vanilla bean ice cream on the dessert pizza was to die for though the serving size was on the tiny side. we waited over an hour for a table (thursday night 7pm), it seemed like the staff were flat out and trying their best, but service turnover was slow as they were just too understaffed. highly recommend going for an early lunch or dinner to help avoid the wait, and don’t miss out on the pizza doc!
