ideal experience on the penninsula. be patient and it pays off. the only down side to this cafe is the wait to get a table. highly trained and efficient staff work hard to keep the balance between attending to patrons already seated, and keeping the waiting que small. they can't help that it is the most wonderful cafe experience in mornington and everyone wants to be there!

atmosphere very italian, immaculately clean, fresh, quality fittings. staff, easy on the eyes, efficient, courteous and eager & willing to explain the menu items.

the food impeccably prepared and beautifully served. in a word, delicious. coffee, absolutely perfect blend and pour, in whatever combination.

can't wait to visit there again.

seriously, how can you survive the off season??
your staff need to learn that they are wait staff not models or famous italians doing hospitality for charity, they are doing nobody a favour, we are paying for their service not their attitudes. grow up (seriously you are like 40). the staff need to be nice, get over themselves and this could be an alright place.

love this place. the service is hit or miss, and the seating is somewhat difficult to get used to (i have overheard some very interesting conversations due to the close proximity of my fellow diners) but the food is always wonderful and the little grocery next door makes it even better.

always fabulous pizza, always fresh and delicious and the waiters aren't too bad to look at either ;p

great food, buzzy venue and genial staff. dropped in for quick lunch. service was genial and professional. choice of different pizzas, salads, paninis, piadinos etc was very broad.

had the prosciutto and buffala mozzeralla pizza and the nero rice and tonno salad washed down with a tasty montepulciano. all very yummy and generous serves. good coffee as well.

the produce store and smallgoods deli are fabulous.

we had tiger prawn pizza and it was awful.yuk

mornington's mecca. d.o.c represents quality above all else, featuring a beautifully fitted out space & incredibly intising fresh produce & deli section. familiar faces from well known establishments like cafe è cucina (melbourne institution) put you instantly at ease, confidently guiding you through it's menu & plentiful selections. with a viewing room of cheeses & hung meats there is always so much to enjoy. did i mention the plentiful, enthusiastic italian waitstaff who happily speak both italian & english enough to understand but not enough to stop you lingering longer!!!

wonderful night. we went here with a group of 14 very fussy ladies.
we all ordered the tasting plate for $39 each.
14 very, very happy ladies a the end of the night.
antipasto platter to start which was unlimtied in what we wanted. cheeses to die for, arthichokes, stuffed peppers, focaccia, olives, and cured meats.
then as much pizza in so many varieties as our heart desired. price also included desserts and coffee. the birthday girl had the waiters dance and bring out her dessert to the applause of the whole restaurant.
food was fantastic and atmosphere vibrant.
i was very pleased after expecting a terrible night based on the reviews here. wonderful suprising fun night.

so very rude!!!!!. we tried doc again because we thought the first time we went that it must have been just a really bad day for the staff..no, they are like this all the time, so very rude!! we were seated at some tiny table that was supposed to seat 4 of us, this was fine as long as we didn't want to put plates on the table to eat anything.we were not even spoken to when showed to the table, then our cutlery and napkin was thrown in front of us. the rude waiter then returned and said 'ready' which i assume was an indication that we had to order, which we did. the food came out all at once, the antipasta platter along with the pizzas, there was no where to put them so the waiter just put them ontop of the plates that we were supposed to use, our glasses had to be placed on the floor as there was no room for anything. we were eating our food when another rude waiter came along and took the platter away, we were still eating from this and when this was pointed out he just dropped it back on the table, and muttered something that we didn't hear. didn't bother with dessert or coffee as we couldn't wait to get out of there! would never go back as there are many other good places to eat on the peninsula.

delish!. just back from lunch here. as always food was fantastic. really a wonderful addition to the otherwise drab food scene in mornington. many reviewers seemingly unimpressed by the waiters rudeness, i think perhpas mistaking poor english skills for a poor demenour?

realistic review. easily the best pizza in town.forget about the front of house attitude, will be back

the way your staff member handled what might have been
a legitimate complaint on your part has left a bitter taste in my mouth.
to speak to a family group of eleven, including four under sixteen, in a raised voice accross the room just becouse everything was not to his liking is quite unacceptable. send him back to catering school.
