your gain. my hat is off to dizzy's gypsy bistro, when they left benton they managed to improve on perfection. they serve the best cheesedipin the rivermarket, there staff still full service and impeckable, and the atomsphere totally comfortable and relaxing, espically the patio, this time of the year. so worth the trip from benton to the rivermarket for a meal with our old friends from benton.

love it, love it, love it!. dizzy's gypsy bistro isn't a new restaurant to central arkansas, but it is a new addition to downtown little rock. the gorgeous, covered patio at the front of the restaurant allows you to enjoy lunch, happy hour or dinner outside regardless of the weather. the inside of the restaurant is eclectic and decorated with fabulous art work and funky chandeliers. it's always tough for me to pick a table inside or out.
i can't get enough of dizzy's food and their extensive menu allows me to try something new every time i am there. here are a couple of my suggestions:
the spinach/artichokedipis amazingly rich and creamy and a great appetizer for the entire table as it's served in an oversized bowl.
mary ann's dream-forever young salad is phenomenal--the salad is always fresh, crisp and my summer salad of choice. i love the cranberries, mandarin oranges and bourbon pecans that come on the salad.
have a sweet tooth? then you have to check out the daily desserts--ask your server what they have. the wedding cake is my go-to dessert--it's wonderful! i'll even admit having gone to dizzy's just for a glass of wine and piece of wedding cake. it's worth every calorie!
i'd suggest dizzy's gypsy bistro any day of the week! see ya there!

nice atmosphere, that's all. i recently went to gypsy's for dinner while visiting little rock. i had been to vermillion water grille several times so i knew that the location was great for a fun time out downtown in the river market. i had heard that the cheesedipwas great, and let's face it, you have to have great cheesedipin little rock. when it arrived at the table, it looked completely gross. it was white and lumpy. totally looked like a bowl of porridge or something. it did taste pretty good once you got past the appearance. after reviewing the menu and not wanting pasta, i settled on one of their burgers as a safe choice. it was pretty good, i have had better though. my dining partners dinners basically looked like the cheese dip, lumpy, and alltogether unappetizing. at least the cheesediptasted better than it looked. their dinners looked like slop and tasted like slop. on to dessert. we ordered cake balls. not kidding, that's what they were called. basically small balls of chocolate cake, served cold with ice cream. it was inexpensive which is the only good thing to say about it.

i was told by the waiter they had been open for years in the benton/bryant area. i sure hope that our experience was because they were opening in a new location and working out the kinks. however, i think it had been open at least a few weeks if not a month or more. i don't think i will be back when returning to little rock.

band is super loud inside. the prices may set you back - especially for pasta, but the portions are to match! started with a great artichokedip$9. my obscenely large feta, tomato district pasta came with a side salad. all around too much good food. they tout a biodegradable holier than thou take out container which you can fry and eat after you've finished your leftovers.

let me tell you about my waiter, reed.

y'all know i don't do onions because i'm intolerant... they mess me up. tmi, sure. anyway... he suggested the award winning cheese dip. i remembered seeing a pic of the cheesedipand i had noted that it had chunks of onion. so i asked him if it had onions floating around in it, and he said "yes, it has pico, but we can leave it out." cool!! i ordered the cheese dip. best freakin cheesedipi've ever had in my life. it took me a bit to decide on my main course, and he told us his favorite from each section. i settled on the chicken spaghetti, and i asked for "no onions, no pico... oh, and no scallions. nothing oniony." he laughed, and said no problem. cool, i'm thinking. my meal comes with a house salad. i didn't think to ask what was on the house salad. aaron ordered the truffle ravioli and a house salad. when our salads came, aaron's had onions and mine did not!! even though i didn't ask!! man! i said "omg, you gave me a salad without onions! how awesome is that!! you rock!" man, any other restaurant would have turned in our orders and not even cared about leaving onions on a salad when the entree was sans onions. dude. i was so impressed. i can't wait to go back.

want to follow the arkansas cheesediptrail?   click here. where can you find the best cheese dips in arkansas?  here's a starter for you... which by no means can completely cover every great restaurant to serve the dish...the restaurant's three-partdipwon the first ever world cheesedipchampionship; it went over so well, they replaced their olddipwith it. it's a yellowdipchunky with onions and peppers and it's served up large.

holy cheese dip. its expensive, so i don't go here often, but when i do - wow. the food is thoughtfully made and tastes terrific. servers are meh i will say though. seriously though, i don't know what kind of witchcraft their wielding to make it, but their cheesedipconcoction is out of this world.

we loved the place from the moment we stepped inside. the decor was fun & funky and we were absolutely in love with the light fixtures. i totally want to diy this one. the food was absolutely delicious. arkansas is apparently the cheesedipcapital of the world, and dizzy's is known for their award winning dip. we started with an order of that, and my only complaint is the portion size. since it was just the two of us at dinner, we were both full by the time we finished the dip. they offer half size portions of several of their entrees, and it would have been awesome to have been able to get this in a smaller portion. logically, i know we could have stopped eating it, but it was way too good. this wasn't some soupy, chili's-style queso. this was cheese dip. each chip that came out of the bowl brought thick, gooey cheese with it. the addition of salsa, pico de gallo & sour cream made this even more perfect.

good food good service. we have a corp loft across the street from dizzy's and spend the week in little rock. we stumbled upon this little gem and have visited numerous times. the food is prepared fresh, the salad dressings are made in-house as are the sauces and cakes. i have tried many items on the menu and all have been tasty, fresh, large portions. the wedding cake is one of the favorites for dessert. mushrooms in a cream sauce were outstanding, the salads they offer have distinct and interesting tastes. the rueben sandwich i had for lunch was huge and the hint of horseradish mustard made the sandwich even better.

they get busy during lunch and dinner hours so don't expect to come in sit down and have a plate of food dropped at your table. the preparation of fresh food takes some time, but well worth the wait. our favorite server carmen who doubles as a bartender is always there for drink refills checking on our meals.

this is a hidden gem with good service and great food.

this place, unfortunately, has to come off my list. i had great service the first time i went, but subsequent visits have been disappointing. the service is slow. tonight, when finally greeted by the server, i was taken aback because he was so shabbily dressed and had sunglasses on the back of his head-i thought someone had wandered into the place and was bothering the patrons. not kidding. then one of our party was served a baked potato that was rotten almost all the way through. not a good enough place for the prices and service. i won't go back, which is a shame because the cheesedipis actually great.
