great po-boys and so much more. located in old jefferson, just over the parish line from nola, sits a little restaurant with cafeteria style seating and a heck of a menu. the largest section of the menu is devoted a local lunch favorite, the po-boy.po-boyvarieties here range from a very delicious fried shrimp to an especially delectable cochon de lait (roasted pork). po-boys are not all that is on the menu. briskets, blackened gulf fish, stuffed mirliton, etc are available as plate specials. there has yet to be an entree or sandwich that i have not loved. some have complained about the "long table / bar seating" when it is crowded (usually between 1130am -1230 pm) but just take a seat where you can and make a friend. the prices are not cheap by local standards but manageable and well worth it. the quantities are large and the quality is excellent. that being said, if you are visiting new orleans this lunch favorite is highly recommended. get a po-boy/special, order a side of dirty rice, and leave room for a homemade brownie or cookie. you will thank me as your friends have to roll you out of the place. it's new orleans... half the reason you came here was to eat.

this place is great. local, friendly and the food is truly good. i had the fried green tomato with shrimp, wonderful. the onion rings were so good i refused the ketchup. my other half enjoyed a real turkeypo-boywith a side of red beans and rice. i plan to make this a go to spot when we visit.

good and generous. the duckpo-boywas rich and overstuffed, and very well made. it was an enjoyably messy experience. the bread was so much better than most spots, and i'll return to try other varieties.

terrific po-boys. great po-boys. this is a small shack with a dive vibe that has great food. order at the counter and have a seat. the oysterpo-boywas great with a lot of oysters. my husband had the fluer de bree with baked ham, roast beef, debris and gravy. lots of meat and he rated it excellent.

prices are reasonable and you can keep the crabby jack's cup your pop is served in. friendly staff too.

you don't know jack?!. mon-wed 10:30am-3pm, thu & fri till 5pm, sat till 4pm, sun closed. casual. ordered the duckpo-boydressed; it came loaded with wonderful, tender shreds of meat, the lettuce oddly buried beneath it. friendly staff, quick service, odd hours!

undoubtedly, crabby jack’s deserves multiple visits. it’s a shame that so many visitors to new orleans will never make it here, but truepo-boyfans will hire a taxi, rent a car, or walk to get these po-boys. they truly are that spectacular.

right up there with the best!!!. portions are large, service sometimes subpar, but quality always top notch. shrimppo-boybest in the city in my opinion, overloaded with shrimp. fried green tomato w/ shrimp remoulade also an excellent poboy. duck specialtypo-boyso tender and flavorful. really can't go wrong with any choice here. i prefer to pick-up and go as it can get quite crowded and very hectic during lunch hours. prices may seem a bit high, but they give you so much meat/seafood b/t the bread.

unbeatable. hands down the best po-boys in greater new orleans, and most likely in the entire world.

get the fried green tomatopo-boy(it has salad shrimp and remoulade sauce on it) and make sure to not get it dressed! (i made that mistake only once, way too messy).

go early to avoid the crowd, because there's quite a large one most of the time.

worth the trip. i visit nola frequently from nj. i found this place through urbanspoon, in search for real local food, instead of chains or tourist traps. the place is a dump, but the food is outstanding. crabby jack's specializes in po-boys (subs on french roll for the rest of us outside of nola). this place has become a mandatory stop for me when i'm in the nola area. why you ask? in nj the line would be out the door 24/7. favorites - brisketpo-boydressed (lettuce, tomato and mayo). a great sandwich full of flavor that melts in your mouth. the ultimate sleeper, the turkey po-boy. a turkey sub you say. i say yes. this is the best turkey sub in the us.

good lunch spot. the po-boys are quite simply perfect. overloaded seafood shrimp was one of the best ive eaten. the duckpo-boyis also unique and very tasty. got a side of mac and cheese and was pleasantly surprised that there were jalapenos mixed in which gave it a spicy and simple twist. cant wait to go back and try everything on the menu, especially the fried chicken.

new orleans best. try to avoid the lunch time crowd, because this place has some of the best po-boys you'll ever eat. the first time we got a shrimp, next time i got a cochon de lait po-boy, probably the best ever. my wife and daughter got the king-sized shrimppo-boyto split ,i ate the rest of the shrimp for supper.

cochonpo-boy& mac n' cheese are superb. being a new orleans native, i know what a goodpo-boyis. crabby jack's cochonpo-boyis awesome. loved the sauce that accompanies the pork. the duckpo-boyon the other hand, needed a bit more flavor. the mac-n-cheese was great - jalapeno added some zang. this was a to-go order & i also got fried green tomatoes and am wondering if they forgot the remoulade? the batter is a bit plain but the tomato itself was perfect.
