great po-boys and so much more. located in old jefferson, just over the parish line from nola, sits a little restaurant with cafeteria style seating and a heck of a menu. the largest section of the menu is devoted a local lunch favorite, the po-boy. po-boy varieties here range from a very delicious fried shrimp to an especially delectable cochon de lait (roasted pork). po-boys are not all that is on the menu. briskets, blackened gulf fish, stuffed mirliton, etc are available as plate specials. there has yet to be an entree or sandwich that i have not loved. some have complained about the "long table / bar seating" when it is crowded (usually between 1130am -1230 pm) but just take a seat where you can and make a friend. the prices are not cheap by local standards but manageable and well worth it. the quantities are large and the quality is excellent. that being said, if you are visiting new orleans this lunch favorite is highly recommended. get a po-boy/special, order a side of dirty rice, and leave room for a homemade brownie or cookie. you will thank me as your friends have to roll you out of the place. it's new orleans... half the reason you came here was to eat.
