great place -- lousy onion rings.. in so many ways, this is a great place. new orleans vibe , infinite choices in salads throw-ins, a great variety of local food. a great place for locals, and a great place for tourists.

my only complaint: you would think jacque would not serve frozen onion rings, but he does. for those of you who don't know -- this is jacque of jacques imos on oak street.

a classic dive with excellent food!. since it touts itself as a po boy museum (see sign outside), of course i had to try one of their po boys. i had the half & half seafood with oysters & shrimp along with a side of the best mac & cheese ever! they add in a small bit of jalapeno to the mac & cheese which really adds a nice punch without being too hot. now, as other have mentioned, the seafood is cooked perfectly and seasoned well. the oysters were still juicy and the shrimp were nice and plump. but words could not have prepared me for how giant the regular sandwich is! this is a monster and well worth every penny/dollar you will have to pay for it! it could easily be shared between two people. there was a constant stream of customers coming in the door while i was there and it was near closing time on saturday. obviously, crabby jack's should be on your list of new orleans po boy stops, especially since this is the museum.

oyster poboy. i wanted to try this place because of its affiliation with jacques-imo's, and it did not disappoint. the staff were not very friendly, but the food was very good. it was super packed at lunch time on wednesday, barely any standing space, but a nice ambiance nonetheless. i wanted to try the calimari poboy just because it's different, but they had run out by the time i got there. so, i ordered an oyster poboy and a side of fries. they were both seasoned perfectly, and the oysters were to die for. yummm! i'll be back!

undoubtedly, crabby jack’s deserves multiple visits. it’s a shame that so many visitors to new orleans will never make it here, but true po-boy fans will hire a taxi, rent a car, or walk to get these po-boys. they truly are that spectacular.

right up there with the best!!!. portions are large, service sometimes subpar, but quality always top notch. shrimp po-boy best in the city in my opinion, overloaded with shrimp. fried green tomato w/ shrimp remoulade also an excellent poboy. duck specialty po-boy so tender and flavorful. really can't go wrong with any choice here. i prefer to pick-up and go as it can get quite crowded and very hectic during lunch hours. prices may seem a bit high, but they give you so much meat/seafood b/t the bread.

i happened to be in the area at lunch time and decided to check out if this place was open. (i had heard through friends that this place keeps odd hours). i think the hours are like 10 am to 4 pm or so. this place has the best shrimp po boy award in town and so i had to go and taste for myself. walking in, i knew what i was going to order beforehand but i was surprised by how small the menu was. shrimp po boy i was impressed with just the sheer size of this half sandwich. there was plenty of shrimp for me to make a 2nd sandwich with this thing. the batter for the shrimp was delicious too. i had ordered my food to go because i was feeling a little self conscious about eating out alone and i didn't bring a book and i had already read all the stories on people.com. the sandwich smelled so delicious on the drive home. a mix of seafood and salt scent filled my car (the new car smell had been long gone at this point). when i got home and un

tried the fried chicken, and the duck, shrimp, and brisket po boys. order at the counter and wait while seated. food made to order so expect to wait a few minutes. very large portions of meat/shrimp even on smaller sandwich. food smells wonderful. chicken was very enjoyable. don't see many folks reviewing it here, try it! as far as the po boys, we loved the brisket and the duck. hard to choose which was better. the shrimp was solid but not really different from other restaurants we tried. will certainly go back in future.

yum!. i had the regular shrimp poboy. at $9.95 plus an extra .45 cents to have it dressed i originally felt the poboy was over priced, but then when i got it i felt how heavy it was and then opened the wrapping i became pleasantly surprised. the shrimp were falling off the sandwich and were perfectly seasoned, it actually reminds me of the seasonings that mother's restaurant uses on their shrimp. halfway thru the first half of the sandwich i started to become full, needless to say i could not finish the other half and had to wrap it up to take home. i was truly pleased and will return.

unbeatable. hands down the best po-boys in greater new orleans, and most likely in the entire world.

get the fried green tomato po-boy (it has salad shrimp and remoulade sauce on it) and make sure to not get it dressed! (i made that mistake only once, way too messy).

go early to avoid the crowd, because there's quite a large one most of the time.

excellent food, poor service.. the food:
everything i've eaten...delicious! homey, flavorful, and large portions. i love the roast duck poboy!

service:
hit or miss..sometimes rude.

despite the occasional poor service, i really enjoy the food here. try the mac n cheese and duck poboy. gumbo is great too!

wonderful!. i had lunch at crabby jack's last week and it was so good. i had one of the best po'boys i've ever eaten. the bread was amazing (chewy and soft), the catfish was fresh tasting and fried perfectly. the homemade sweet potato chips were super thin and crispy. two thumbs up!
