let start with i am a brit. i know what a cornish pasty looks and taste like. what this place serves is not it. one thing that is authentic is the service. lasttimei was there i waited 15 minutes for service. the staff where all chit chatting and paid no attention. i love cornish pasties. you will get a more genuine offering at the george and dragon so go there instead

i lived in downtown phoenix and have only been to the new downtown location. didn’t see that here on zomato hence thought of leaving a review here.

we absolutely loved this dish ... unfortunately the chicken tikka and couple other chicken options were all gone so we had salmon dill pasty and lamb shepherds pie pasty. both were really filling and very delicious. i look forward to getting the much raved about chicken tikka pasty sometimesoon.

disclaimer: i haven’t had cornish pasty before so i have nothing to compare what i ate here with.

love real food, in a "different" atmosphere!. cold! (for phoenix) saturday night.timeto try some pasties.
seated ourselves at a large table with real church pew seats. ordered drinks from friendly, casual server, along with salads.
fresh, crisp lettuce, best grape tomatoes in town, and a very flavorful balsamic dressing packed with herbs!
oggie pastie for me. bits of steak, potato, onion & rutabaga in a perfect crust. top with the superb wine gravy, and you've got a meal to remember. wife had the pilgrim, a turkey, dressing, sweet potato & onion pastie that was good enough for thanksgiving anywhere.
though we didn't need it, tried the chips (fries) and mashed peas. reminded me of food i had in lancashire, england.
took home half of the pasties, and a sticky toffee pudding dessert . don't think twice, order the sticky toffee! unique!
wait staff was all friendly, though they look like a bunch of anarchist refugees from a gulag in siberia! definite university atmosphere.
the music playing at a comfortable level was splendid! a great mix of rhthym & blues. had a good time, and a terrific meal.

food..........a
service.......b ( casual)
ambience.....b- ( dark, dingy, bluesy, studenty !)
value..........b+

this is my new favorite place to dine! i came in alone for lunch today and as doo as i walked in the door i liked the vibe of the place. my butt hardly hit the seat and a very friendly server came to my table with a smile on his face. he helped me navigate the big selection of draft choices and his suggestion was fantastic. i have never been here before and even though i am here now enjoying my bangers and mash pasty with a side of amazingly zesty chips with garlic and jalapeño, i can hardly wait to come back with friends. i liked the music, the staff, the vibe, the beer, and of course the divine pasty! i like to try new place that are not some big national chain. i much prefer to support the small business owner. i enjoyed my meal and mytimein this great place. i will be back soon.

these aren't glorified hot pockets... one of my top favorite places in arizona to eat! they have expanded, but i still love this orginal location in tempe. i love sitting at the bar and watching the cooks make these yummy pasties. my favorite is still the orginal "oggie", but i try new ones everytimei come here. my friends tease me, but i always add a side of the mushy peas. desserts? the banoffee pie is to die for. great beer selection too!

greasy and uncomfortable.. i'm not going to claim to be an expert on english pub fare. this was the fist, and maybe lasttimei will eat this kind of food. it was way to greasy (and i usually love greasy food). the seating was cramped, uncomfortable, and hot. i left feeling like i needed a shower and something good to eat.

food is ok if you can get served. i have been to this place 4 times and eaten there twice. last 2timeafter waiting atvthe bar/counter for 15 mins with no one asking what i wanted i left.

as cornish pasties go these are ok unfortunately they o not use the distinctive shape of the cornish pasty and the pastry should be more of a short crust pastry

me and my boy friend come here often and sit around doing car bombs for a few hours! always a good time! all the pasties that i have tried are very good, simple good eatin, its a hit or miss with the staff, sometimes they are attentive and helpfull and sometimes they dont even know that youve been sitting there for 30 minutes trying to get their attention, i mean come on the joint i tiny! another down fall is thetimeit takes to get your food, i know it takestimeto bake the pasty but it seems to take longer than it should! half a pasty is more than enough to fill me up for just about the whole day and always look forward to heating up the other half as a late night snack! its a great place to take a load off and relax and drink some good beer and eat some good food! love it and would absolutely recommend it!

if you stick to the beer and pasties, you should make out just fine.... i am writing this with both respect and frustration for this restaurant. having spenttimein the uk, i was familiar with the famous "meal in a pastry" that originates from the mining town of cornwall.

few restaurants compare when it comes to simplicity and variety. i have become addicted to the cajun with it's spicy chicken, ham, and cheesy goodness. my girlfriend always seems to order the veggie tikka masala. i have tried much of the menu, and as long as you stay with the pasties, you are fine. the potato dishes are sort of hit and miss. the cheesy one is sort of bland and the curried potato lacks the crunchiness that would otherwise put it on a great tapas menu. finally, i would add that the beer selection is quite good and offers several sizes of great draft beers from the british isles.

so yeah, food is great, and for dine in the prices are decent. my big frustration, and the reason i am writing this has to do with my experience tonight. i have taken to ordering pasties to go because the wait staff is often slow or inattentive. this is normally fine because i can stay at home and watch a movie while i eat. indeed, i have been trying to save money by ordering half-baked pasties, and in the past they have knocked a dollar off of each of the pasties i've ordered regardless of type. tonight i ordered two half-baked pasties to take home and the woman operating the cash register refused to give me the usual dollar off. very, very annoying and this is the sort of inconsistency in the staff that keeps me from awarding five stars. food=great, service=less than stellar.

love the pasties!. cornwall native dean thomas hit one out of the park when he deciced to open the cornish pasty company in tempe, az. a wonderful collection of made from scratch pasties (say "pass-tee"), unique desserts and some of the best examples of the brewers arts to be found anywhere on this side of the pond.
lunch or dinner will cost you less than $10.00 (without the beer) and the variety is a bit staggering. from the traditional oggie with beef, onions, potatoes and rutabaga with a lovely red wine gravy, to the adventurous lamb vindaloo with basmati rice, potatoes, lamb and a wonderfully spicy vindaloo sauce all of dean's creations are worth trying.
we have been visiting this hidden wonder for a couple of years now and have tried most of the items on the menu. (except for the vegetarian pasties which we just have not gotten to yet.) it is nearly impossible for me to pick a favorite, they are all that good!
if you enjoy beer then dean's selections will please you. not a drab, tasteless lager in the bunch! hoegaarden on draught as well as guiness, harp and strongbow cider plus a few others to keep a beer lover happy for a long time.
the current location is quite small however and it's proximity to asu guarantees a packed house on friday and saturday nights. happily, dean is opening a second location in mesa on doson rd. and guadalupe rd. that will not only be larger but has a more open environment as well. opening has been announced for saturday, january 17th 2009 and you can bet we'll be there.
take thetimeto find the cornish pasty co. you will come back again and again!
