love real food, in a "different" atmosphere!. cold! (for phoenix) saturday night. time to try some pasties.
seated ourselves at a large table with real church pew seats. ordered drinks from friendly, casual server, along with salads.
fresh, crisp lettuce, best grape tomatoes in town, and a very flavorful balsamic dressing packed with herbs!
oggie pastie for me. bits of steak, potato, onion & rutabaga in a perfect crust. top with the superb wine gravy, and you've got a meal to remember. wife had the pilgrim, a turkey, dressing, sweet potato & onion pastie that was good enough for thanksgiving anywhere.
though we didn't need it, tried the chips (fries) and mashed peas. reminded me of food i had in lancashire, england.
took home half of the pasties, and a sticky toffee pudding dessert . don't think twice, order the sticky toffee! unique!
wait staff was all friendly, though they look like a bunch of anarchist refugees from a gulag in siberia! definite university atmosphere.
the music playing at a comfortable level was splendid! a great mix of rhthym & blues. had a good time, and a terrific meal.
