damn good!. i grew up in the upper peninsula of michigan, and my grandma bakedpastiesfor her own restaurant while i was growing up. i'm not sure if she'd approve of a tikka masala pasty, but i sure as hell do. the crust is the toughest thing to get right with a pasty, and i was very happy with this one. i've only been here a few times, but it's somewhere i'm always going to stop when i'm in town.

this is an excellent spot. the ambiance is cool, the food is always delicious, and they were able to accommodate us when i had my partners birthday party. the only downside is sometimes thepastiesare out. this is mostly due to them being so popular, so i guess that's not a bad problem to have?

we went to the scottsdale cornish pasty, the ambience is good with outdoor and indoor seating.
good lighting . the service was great.
we ordered starter - chicken wings , which was juicy and fresh .
for main course , we ordered pepper steak, vindaloo, and chicken tikkapasties. loved the pepper steak the most.
desserts: apple caramel pasty and chocolate bread and butter pudding. these 2 is good for 4 people. the taste is amazing and the pudding was very rich and sweet

overall a great experience!

tried their sticky toffee pudding in the 2nd visit- it's heavenly ! yumm! must have dessert!

great food. good experience. my wife and i had lunch here monday. our meal was very good. both thepastieswe had (oggie and spicy chicken asiago) were tasty. the service was excellent. the waiter was right on in helping my wife choose a beer she would like and also with pastie selections. the music was very good. the price of our lunch was entirely reasonable. the bannoffee pie we had for dessert was wonderful. we will be back on our next visit to phoenix.

greatestpastieswest of the rockies that i've found!. stopped in today while passing through tempe and looked on urbanspoon for someplace tasty and yet again i was not let down. cornish pasty is a lil place that can be a bit confusing looking from the outside (actually on the hardy side of the strip mall, not on the universityside) since it has at least 3 entrances and no real markings on the doors. but once you pick a door, make your way to a table, the bar, or snag an outside seat you'll be in for a treat.

the wait staff was prompt and fast to serve me even though it seemed chaotic busy in near the kitchen (visible from the bar) and had my meal (to go) to me in less then the promised 15 minutes, with two piping hot bundles of deliciousness and two for dinner when i finally made it home tonight. ordered a rosemary steak and a cheese and onion for lunch and two half cooked (finish at home style) "oggie's" for dinner. again that was a delicious, filling, and hot lunch and dinner and i was stuffed after each all for just over $32 bucks! you cannot go wrong here it seems!

the music was a bit too loud for how crowded it was. it made conversation difficult. thepastieswere fantastic and we will go back again. i grew up eating pavlova instead of birthday cake but their's was just ok.

delicious!. visiting tempe wtih my family, and we found this little gem, and we alll loved it. it is small, narrow & dark, which i am assuming imitates the mines wherepastiesfirst gained their popularity. my parents had the oggie, i had the lamb & mint, and my sister had the chicken tikka masala. all were very different & very delicious. if you save room for dessert, the sticky toffee pudding is heaven. can't wait to visit again!

2013 update: was in tempe recently and i decided to give cornish pasty co. a try. wow...thepastiesare really good! fresh made and very delicious. many varieties to suit just about anyone's tastes/preferences or appetite. i should have gone here in 2011 on my last visit!

2011: full disclosure: i did not eat here. based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews i really was looking forward to giving this place a try. what wasn't clear in the reviews i read, is this place is essentially a bar. i did not feel comfortable dining here so i opted not to stay. i'm sure the food is great; however, if atmosphere is important to you, be prepared for a college bar feel; it is of course near the asu campus. maybe next time.

food is ok if you can get served. i have been to this place 4 times and eaten there twice. last 2 time after waiting atvthe bar/counter for 15 mins with no one asking what i wanted i left.

as cornishpastiesgo these are ok unfortunately they o not use the distinctive shape of the cornish pasty and the pastry should be more of a short crust pastry

the best place in tempe. this is the best place in tempe, i swear to you! i'm from michigan, wherepastiesare like manna, and i'm telling you that i've never had one as good as i have at cornish pasty co. the variety is fantastic, not only do they offer the classic steak and rutabaga, but all sorts of delicious stuffings such as shepherd's pie, bangers and mash, thanksgiving turkey dinner, cheeseburger and fries (yeah, that's right!), curry, greek... it's endless, really. not to mention delicious beer on tap and the best greek salad in the world. and it's only a salad, how can it be that good? i've been here a million times, and look forward to a million more.

me and my boy friend come here often and sit around doing car bombs for a few hours! always a good time! all thepastiesthat i have tried are very good, simple good eatin, its a hit or miss with the staff, sometimes they are attentive and helpfull and sometimes they dont even know that youve been sitting there for 30 minutes trying to get their attention, i mean come on the joint i tiny! another down fall is the time it takes to get your food, i know it takes time to bake the pasty but it seems to take longer than it should! half a pasty is more than enough to fill me up for just about the whole day and always look forward to heating up the other half as a late night snack! its a great place to take a load off and relax and drink some good beer and eat some good food! love it and would absolutely recommend it!

if you stick to the beer and pasties, you should make out just fine.... i am writing this with both respect and frustration for this restaurant. having spent time in the uk, i was familiar with the famous "meal in a pastry" that originates from the mining town of cornwall.

few restaurants compare when it comes to simplicity and variety. i have become addicted to the cajun with it's spicy chicken, ham, and cheesy goodness. my girlfriend always seems to order the veggie tikka masala. i have tried much of the menu, and as long as you stay with the pasties, you are fine. the potato dishes are sort of hit and miss. the cheesy one is sort of bland and the curried potato lacks the crunchiness that would otherwise put it on a great tapas menu. finally, i would add that the beer selection is quite good and offers several sizes of great draft beers from the british isles.

so yeah, food is great, and for dine in the prices are decent. my big frustration, and the reason i am writing this has to do with my experience tonight. i have taken to orderingpastiesto go because the wait staff is often slow or inattentive. this is normally fine because i can stay at home and watch a movie while i eat. indeed, i have been trying to save money by ordering half-baked pasties, and in the past they have knocked a dollar off of each of thepastiesi've ordered regardless of type. tonight i ordered two half-bakedpastiesto take home and the woman operating the cash register refused to give me the usual dollar off. very, very annoying and this is the sort of inconsistency in the staff that keeps me from awarding five stars. food=great, service=less than stellar.

love the pasties!. cornwall native dean thomas hit one out of the park when he deciced to open the cornish pasty company in tempe, az. a wonderful collection of made from scratchpasties(say "pass-tee"), unique desserts and some of the best examples of the brewers arts to be found anywhere on this side of the pond.
lunch or dinner will cost you less than $10.00 (without the beer) and the variety is a bit staggering. from the traditional oggie with beef, onions, potatoes and rutabaga with a lovely red wine gravy, to the adventurous lamb vindaloo with basmati rice, potatoes, lamb and a wonderfully spicy vindaloo sauce all of dean's creations are worth trying.
we have been visiting this hidden wonder for a couple of years now and have tried most of the items on the menu. (except for the vegetarianpastieswhich we just have not gotten to yet.) it is nearly impossible for me to pick a favorite, they are all that good!
if you enjoy beer then dean's selections will please you. not a drab, tasteless lager in the bunch! hoegaarden on draught as well as guiness, harp and strongbow cider plus a few others to keep a beer lover happy for a long time.
the current location is quite small however and it's proximity to asu guarantees a packed house on friday and saturday nights. happily, dean is opening a second location in mesa on doson rd. and guadalupe rd. that will not only be larger but has a more open environment as well. opening has been announced for saturday, january 17th 2009 and you can bet we'll be there.
take the time to find the cornish pasty co. you will come back again and again!
