cooper's old-time pit bar-b-que

brisket tasted more like roast. believe it or not, the smoked chicken at seaworld tasted better than the smoked chicken here. finally, the onlysauceavailable was more like au jus, and it was very salty. rudy's, just down the street, is considerably better. and better priced.

good brisket and beed rib. potatoe salad was peppery and like cold loaded mashed potatoes but i liked it. thesaucewas watery and not tasty. the complimentary beans were great. the spice apples were good. overall: good.

how can you get bbq so wrong?. bad food is one thing, but to mess up bbq is unacceptable. the brisket had a stringy texture, weird, and thesaucewas runny and full of vinegar. the roasted corn was inedible. the potato salad had the consistency of mashed potatoes. the beans you get free was the only tasty thing here. well i should not say free since 3 of us took $40 to feed, of course a lot went in the trash. the managers were even arguing and making a public display regarding dealing with the workers. we left here with a sick feeling... for great bbq go to bill millers!

i am a bbq snob. it takes a lot to impress me. i don't need your sides or sausage. i want sliced brisket, lean. with bread and onions. this brisket was perfection, i hope it wasn't a fluke cuz i'm going back. i hated thesauceto much vinegar for texas. but the brisket was heaven y'all.

my favorite bbq in new braunfels. i go to cooper's about once a week. my favorite item on the menu is the half chicken ... excellent, peppery rub and smoked to perfection. pork chops are also winners. the baked potatoes are delicious ... nicely coated on the outside with seasonings. they have my favorite sweet tea in the entire state! beans are excellent andsauceis flavorful. while i also enjoy other local bbq joints such as granzin's and rudy's, cooper's is clearly a notch above.

if you don't love it, you don't know pit bar-b-que. being a child of the 1950's rised in dallas i had the best of real pit bar-b-que, so i believe i know what this should be like and cooper's old time pit is still the best of the rest who try to sell slow smoked meats. the slogan cook it low and slow and use a dry rub over an open oak and mesquite wood fired pit is the only way to get that great taste. as my great uncle alvie, who ran a pit bar-b-que business for 35 years used to say "it not what you cook but it's how you cook in the pit" that's what makes it happen, enough said?

eat bar-b-que here first!. ok folks this place is too nice and clean to have bar-b-que this great. cooper's in one man's opinion is the way pit bar-b-q should always be. their secret is their rub which you can buy there and use at home. for those who think they have to eat great bar-b-que withsaucethen they will dip your choice of cuts in it for you. be sure and try all the sides. the beans are like yo' mama used to make, which you can get as much as you can eat from the five gallon bucket they have them in. be sure and get the cobblers to go to eat later you'll be too full. ok folks, enough said it's time for you all to go to cooper's old time pit in new braunfels.

best bbq ever!. ate at cooper's last night and i have to say this is my new favorite bbq joint. the beef ribs were huge and juicy, spiced to perfection, and just fell off the bone. we gotsauceon the side but the meat here is so good (really it is!), i didn't even need (or want) the sauce. the brisket and sausage were amazing as well.
a lot of bbq joints do one or two sides really well (creamed corn at rudy's comes to mind) but i have to say that all the sides were perfect, and the beans (which i usually don't like at bbq places) were off the charts with flavor and better yet - all you care to eat.
do your taste buds a favor and the next time you're driving i-35 through new braunfels, tx (or are anywhere close like austin or san antonio) stop into cooper's for some unforgettable bbq.

i was on a country drive with my family and decided to stop in and check out the q.the presentation was great but the food was poor and thesaucewas terrible!if i had to do it over i would skip the sauce!

gruene goodness. i love the original in llano, but that's a bit far to drive from san antonio on a regular basis. this one has the same great bbq but with a much cleaner and upscale atmosphere plus plenty of parking! this rates way up there for my favorite bbq places. try the big chop with baked potato and cole slaw. plenty of free jalepenos, pickles, onions, andsauceat the table. i go often.

best bbq in texas. i am regular at coopers in new braunfels, texas and i can tell you that you will not get better bbq anywhere. the open pit when you walk in makes you want everything they offer. the pork ribs are incredible, the kind you sometimes wonder if you will ever get down to the bone. the serve a ribeye steak on the weekends that is so tender. have it submerged in the homemade bbqsauceand get some of there fresh potato salad. last but not least, blackberry, apple or peach cobbler. you will love the spacious dining area with your favorite games on the tv's and the picnic table seating. the staff is great and you can get in and out in 30 minutes. careful ordering as they price things by the pound. you can spend some big bucks in coopers, but take your leftovers home and your rib bones to the dogs.

bbq is partially in thesaucepartly in the meat. if it's thesauceyou like it comes in two forms, brown sugar base or vinegar. cooper'a meat is great but i am a brown sugarsauceman. if i took granzin'ssauceto cooper's it would be the best of both worlds. fortunately i can just eat at granzin's and get both for a significantly reduced price. the fixins include pinto beans and the folks are friendly.
