cooper's old-time pit bar-b-que

it's a bit expensive, but then again all bbq is expensive. it's worth the cost for a good meal. i always stop @cooper'safter we float the river

my favorite bbq in new braunfels. i go tocooper'sabout once a week. my favorite item on the menu is the half chicken ... excellent, peppery rub and smoked to perfection. pork chops are also winners. the baked potatoes are delicious ... nicely coated on the outside with seasonings. they have my favorite sweet tea in the entire state! beans are excellent and sauce is flavorful. while i also enjoy other local bbq joints such as granzin's and rudy's,cooper'sis clearly a notch above.

in all of my food travels, i foundcooper'sto be one of the best barbecue pits in all of texas! i highly recommend it to others.

the food here used to be really good, but today it was awful!! the ribs were burned to a crisp, the chicken was bloody, and the brisket was so full of fat that it looked like gelatin! not to mention that the manager was completely rude to my family and me. i've never been treated so bad at a restaurant before!!cooper'sis definitely going downhill.

if you don't love it, you don't know pit bar-b-que. being a child of the 1950's rised in dallas i had the best of real pit bar-b-que, so i believe i know what this should be like andcooper'sold time pit is still the best of the rest who try to sell slow smoked meats. the slogan cook it low and slow and use a dry rub over an open oak and mesquite wood fired pit is the only way to get that great taste. as my great uncle alvie, who ran a pit bar-b-que business for 35 years used to say "it not what you cook but it's how you cook in the pit" that's what makes it happen, enough said?

eat bar-b-que here first!. ok folks this place is too nice and clean to have bar-b-que this great.cooper'sin one man's opinion is the way pit bar-b-q should always be. their secret is their rub which you can buy there and use at home. for those who think they have to eat great bar-b-que with sauce then they will dip your choice of cuts in it for you. be sure and try all the sides. the beans are like yo' mama used to make, which you can get as much as you can eat from the five gallon bucket they have them in. be sure and get the cobblers to go to eat later you'll be too full. ok folks, enough said it's time for you all to go tocooper'sold time pit in new braunfels.

just ok. for years we have heard aboutcooper'sin llano....i hope it is better than this place! just run of the meal que, complete with fatty pieces of brisket served. go to salt lick if you want some bar b que that is over the top.

best bbq ever!. ate atcooper'slast night and i have to say this is my new favorite bbq joint. the beef ribs were huge and juicy, spiced to perfection, and just fell off the bone. we got sauce on the side but the meat here is so good (really it is!), i didn't even need (or want) the sauce. the brisket and sausage were amazing as well.
a lot of bbq joints do one or two sides really well (creamed corn at rudy's comes to mind) but i have to say that all the sides were perfect, and the beans (which i usually don't like at bbq places) were off the charts with flavor and better yet - all you care to eat.
do your taste buds a favor and the next time you're driving i-35 through new braunfels, tx (or are anywhere close like austin or san antonio) stop intocooper'sfor some unforgettable bbq.

birds of a feather. i can only trust that this location is more of the same from the good folks in mason. while i have yet to stop by the nb pit, im sure it's as good as the junction and mason locations. you can argue best barbecue till the brisket comes home, but everyone has their favorites (lum's, junction) =]cooper'sis definitely top tier.

by far the best of thecooper'schain, this location is relatively new, and just as pristine as the new ft. worth location. ordering is done right at the new stainless steel pits just inside the doors, and the display of meats is impressive.

we've been meaning to make an official visit to the newcooper'slocation in on loop 337 in new braunfels for some time and finally got around to making the easy 45-minute drive down 35. other than bo, who made a stop there back in august , i don't think

bbq is partially in the sauce partly in the meat. if it's the sauce you like it comes in two forms, brown sugar base or vinegar. cooper'a meat is great but i am a brown sugar sauce man. if i took granzin's sauce tocooper'sit would be the best of both worlds. fortunately i can just eat at granzin's and get both for a significantly reduced price. the fixins include pinto beans and the folks are friendly.
