go for the smell alone!. walked in and smelled the hickory.....all of the meats on the pits were mouth-watering and made me want them all. i like the way you get a tray and get what you want then find a place to sit, kinda like a company picnic. too full for sweets, but they looked delish. maybe next time around ;)

birds of a feather. i can only trust that this location is more of the same from the good folks in mason. while i have yet to stop by the nb pit, im sure it's as good as the junction and mason locations. you can argue best barbecue till the brisket comes home, but everyone has their favorites (lum's, junction) =] cooper's is definitely top tier.

by far the best of the cooper's chain, this location is relatively new, and just as pristine as the new ft. worth location. ordering is done right at the new stainless steel pits just inside the doors, and the display of meats is impressive.

we've been meaning to make an official visit to the new cooper's location in on loop 337 in new braunfels for some time and finally got around to making the easy 45-minute drive down 35. other than bo, who made a stop there back in august , i don't think

best bbq in texas. i am regular at coopers in new braunfels, texas and i can tell you that you will not get better bbq anywhere. the open pit when you walk in makes you want everything they offer. the pork ribs are incredible, the kind you sometimes wonder if you will ever get down to the bone. the serve a ribeye steak on the weekends that is so tender. have it submerged in the homemade bbq sauce and get some of there fresh potato salad. last but not least, blackberry, apple or peach cobbler. you will love the spacious dining area with your favorite games on the tv's and the picnic table seating. the staff is great and you can get in and out in 30 minutes. careful ordering as they price things by the pound. you can spend some big bucks in coopers, but take your leftovers home and your rib bones to the dogs.

overrated, overpriced. i honestly don't know why all the good reviews for this place, it's mediocre, and that's being kind.

we went for a sunday lunch after reading the positive reviews here and a complimentary piece in the san antonio express-news touting their their blackberry cobbler. i ordered 1/2 chicken and my wife had the pork loin. we also choose to try the potato salad, cole slaw and both peach and blackberry cobblers.

the chicken was bland, the pork was dry, the cole slaw way too sweet and potato salad bland. the cobblers were equally disappointing - the peach was all crust (soggy) and the blackberry was w-a-y too sweet.

here's a tip: go to heb, pick up a rotisserie chicken, potato salad and cole slaw from the deli and a mrs. smith's cobbler. you'll have a much better meal and save about $10.

don't waste your time.

been to the original in llano, texas, and this has the same great food you only find around central and hill country of texas. you walk by the pit and pick exactly the pieces of meat you want. only problem is it all looks so good we always order way too much!! good part, great leftovers!!!

bbq is partially in the sauce partly in the meat. if it's the sauce you like it comes in two forms, brown sugar base or vinegar. cooper'a meat is great but i am a brown sugar sauce man. if i took granzin's sauce to cooper's it would be the best of both worlds. fortunately i can just eat at granzin's and get both for a significantly reduced price. the fixins include pinto beans and the folks are friendly.
