cheddar's scratch kitchen

the price of every food item on the menu ends with a "9". the dining rooms were packed so i ate at the bar. tv's behind the bar are tuned to sports. i ordered the 6 oz $9.99 sirloin which comes with two sides. i requested medium with no additional seasoning. it was perfectly cooked and tender. the southern green beans are flavored with bacon grease and quite tasty. the steamed broccoli was tender. a garden or caesars salad is $2.49. bud light, coors light, and blue moon are on draft. seth and taylor are great bartenders and attentive and my meal was prompt. an enjoyable experience and my meal was mity tasteeeeee!

i don't hand out too many 5 star reviews, but cheddar's in general always delivers. i especially like the monte cristo, chicken caesar salad, queso, and croissants. this location is always busy and seems to usually handle it well. i think you get good bang for your buck at cheddar's.

2015 review for garland, tx. we enjoy going to this location at least once a month. yes, at peak hrs, it will be busy, so please be patient. the portions are generous. we have had excellent service over the past 15 months. whether you take your family or it's date night, this cheddars location will not disappoint.

it was ok. the food was great but the service lacked. i had the mango talapia and it was very good. the wife had the catfish and she enjoyed it.
we waited for anyone to service long enough to read an unfamiliar menu and decide. it took asking someone to get service.
we were given a gift card to it. i doubt i would go back there when we shop though. i can cook that's not the point of going out.

chocolate cake. it was way to much for one person!

understaffed? a no purpose wait!!. just arrived, 30 mins of wait, about more then half of this restaurant is its employees. yet, i'm wondering here why there's a wait line when there is about 20 open tables. food is really good, but not worth one's human half life time of wait.

horrible service. very rude, unhappy staff. caught the hostesses, the servers and the managers all arguing with each other, and waited an hour and a half for a table, being told 'five more minutes' at least 10 times. finally just walked out, we got tired of watching the hostess roll her eyes at everyone as the manager seemed to argue with all of his staff the whole time. i've eaten there before, and the food was so not worth dealing with all of that. the only reason we even went back this time is because we were meeting a friend who insisted on trying out that restaurant, even though we warned her about it. we will not be making this mistake ever again.

obnoxious manager. one of the worst experiences i had ever had at a restaurant. there was a mix up with the tickets that turned out way worse than it should have in that situation. it was topped off by the rudest, smuggest manager i have ever encountered. how this man got his job is beyond me. at the end of it all, he said he was happy with how it all went, well i am glad he was happy. i will never step foot in another cheddar's much less this one. the loaded bake potatoes are also not 'loaded.' not even with bacon.

new french fries. cheddar's has new fries they are serving. ..bad bad bad... they are just awful!!! after all these years of great food... you can tell they are cutting back on quality and of course on quantity. .. but trust me you don't want extras of these fires anyway!!!

no free dessert for birthdays!. pretty good food and ya seem to get your monies worth. the wait is not to bad depending on how many is in your party. fast service but it is to noisy in there!

another chain.... it's ok but to me nothing special. just like applebee's it will do , its food!

great food at a great price!!!. love this place. cheap drink and inexpensive yet delicious well portioned meals. 2 thumbs up!!!

i had the spasangna and it was fabulous. this dish was a spaghetti dish but layered like lasagna, it was so tasty and the portion was huge. i would have this again.

horrible service. worse service ever by our waiter cesar. took our drink order and appetizer and brought our dinner with out an appetizer. brought our appetizer when we were half way done with our meal. have to ask for more drink when the cup was empty for 10 minutes. was to busy talking and paying attention to his friends in the booth next to us. he dropped the tray on the way to the kichen and didn't pick it up and 4 other waiters just looked at it and walked by. will never eat there again. date: 10-13-14

chicken fry steak very tough. our food was good but one person in our group ordered chicken fry steak that was so tough he could not eat it. ( he is not a picky eater). we told our waitress and she got the manager and she apologize. i would ask before ordering if the steak is tender.

gave them a second try. it was even worse this time! the wait was fine for a busy friday evening. the table wasn't clean test when we were taken to it to be seated. then we got our drinks, mine dodn't have the requested lemon slice. i wasn't ready to order and she acted personally offended. my boyfriend ordered and then i ordered. before i was able to ask for lemon she was gone. a different waiter dropped off a refill for my boyfriend. when we got our order i finally had the chance to request lemon. the food was as bad as the service last night. my salmon had a layer of slimy fat. there were tons of onions. they should change the name from cheddar's to onion's, really. i wouldn't even call the steamed broccoli steamed. someone here said the food was home made, but frozen potatoes like theirs are not any less fast food than mcdonald's serves. i never got more tea, my glass stayed empty. i left very disappointed.

don't get the chicken fried steak, yuck. get the spagsagna. the croissants are good. onion rings are good.
