i haven't been here for awhile but it just so happens to be right outside one of my bus stops home. pretty hipster doughnut place with interesting flavours that taste amazing. they really do know what unique flavours people would enjoy. the price is not bad considering how the doughnuts are fresh, however for more selections do keep in mind to come early.

i love a hipster doughnut as much as the next skinny-jeans clad vancouverite, but i definitely prefer their simpler options. great quality doughnut with great quality ingredients. i see that they do japanese-style karee pan for lunch, and will definitely stop in there one day to give it a try.

i went to cartems a while ago but i'm just getting around to writing the review now. and that's not a knock on the place in any way. the place was immaculate, bright and simple. helpful and friendly staff with a mouth watering selection of donuts to try me and a friend picked up a half dozen they were gone within a couple hours (despite our efforts) my favourite was the earl grey and apple fritter. a little on the higher side price wise but definitely a must-try when you're looking for a treat or something special. 😑👌🏼

thank god it's friday.  midterm week finally ended and reading break has finally begun!  many have coffee to thank, for me, i have to give special thanks to cartems donuterie. located 534 west pender street, cartems is easily accessible.  it's only a few minute walk from waterfront and has the best donuts i have ever tasted.  do not be tempted by the tim horton's on your way!!  cartems is so much better.

upon the first bite, i knew i've been cheating myself with cheap donuts from superstore or whatever else. the dough was so perfect; it was soft, even, and fluffy. with some donuts, when you bite in, you can still taste the sugar because it hasn't been evenly distributed or because they added too much, but this was not an issue. the dough wasn't too sweet; giving the glaze and the filling all the glory.

get the gluten-free earl grey donut! it's the perfect blend of flavours and not as oily for a donut. i promise you won't want to share it with other people. these donuts are great if you buy a box of 6 or 12 and then cut them into ¼ pieces and share them with a group of friends or party. they make great snacks and conversation starters 😛 and no one ends up feeling like a fatty.

not only the donuts but also friendly welcoming staff made our friday night desert more pleasant. my friends came from la to visit vancouver and they were quite impressed by the quality and the taste of donuts. of course we go back there!

for the christmas season, cartems introduced a few new flavours and on this one day where i was craving some donuts, i picked up half a dozen cartems donuts. half a dozen donuts costs $18, which could be considered on the pricey side. but their flavour combinations are quite unique and very enjoyable.

cartems is truly a wonderful spot. bright, open, minimalist; sparsely decorated with beautiful accented decor and a magnificent wooden table as the centerpiece. the coffee is hot, the donuts are fresh and delicious. try something a little different like a whiskey and bacon donut.

love it! the ladies behind the counter were super friendly and helpful, were even singing along with the music when i walked in. i got the eggnog stuffie and the earl grey ring. the eggnog stuffie was good, heavy and tasted like eggnog! very good! but the earl grey stood out to me, it was perfectly flavoured, sweet, and moist but not wet. i loved it! would love to go again

coming to cartems is always a treat! we love getting the specialty flavours each time we visit (rather than their regular selection - which are delicious as well).

awesome donuts (both the gluten free and gluteny varieties!). this place is so good that in the short time i'm spending in vancouver, i've already been here twice. loved the salted caramel. as a celiac, i appreciate the care they take in using separate trays, separate tongs, etc.

picture shows an apple pie donut in the foreground (stuffed with filling!), gf salted caramel in the background.

i bought the triple chocolate, vegan stuffed apple, and the fireball whiskey pumpkin spice with chilli nuts. the chocolate icing and the chocolate dough of the triple chocolate donut are bitter and not sugary; you can taste the chocolate. you can taste the spices with the apple pieces inside the vegan stuffed apple donut. i like the vegan dough more because the vegan dough looks natural (whiter), tastes less sweet with a less condensed texture than the regular vanilla dough. the fireball whiskey pumpkin spice with chili nuts donut is spicy and not sweet. the spiciness covers the taste of whiskey and pumpkin. the chilli nuts make the whole donut tastes spicy.

i like the three donuts because they are less sweet than the regular donuts. i agree that the donuts are a little expensive but i think it is because they do use real ingredients and the donuts do taste healthier than regular donuts. however, if they can add a cupboard door so the donuts are in an enclosed space without any flies flying inside the cupboard, i would give one more star to them.
