other than lucky’s, i think of cartem s when the topic of donuts arises. even though lucky’s is considered to be a “side project” of 49th parallel, they still produce some pretty solid donuts, like the pillowy tiramisu ! this then begs the question… lucky’s or cartems? after chatting over some subs at finch’s , sharonmhfung and i strolled into cartems as it was along our way. there’s a pretty wide variety of donuts – more than lucky’s, i think. after minutes of debating between apple pie or london fog, a kind stranger helped me settled on the latter. the whiskey bacon sounded prettygoodtoo… next time perhaps :) the london fog stuffie ($3) had a light cake texture, with an airy and slightly spongey vanilla bean cream filling. the cake itself was infused with earl grey tea, as was the glaze, yet the tea flavour remained quite mild. while i can’t really compare cartems to lucky’s head-to-head since i’ve eaten different donuts at both places, i’ll say that i currently prefer cartems. i f

so over-rated! greasy, heavy and not worth the hype. both my doughnuts broke into three pieces and sugar, and crumbs everywhere! i think the hype is that they use all locally sourced ingredients, which i respect. but nothing isgoodthere. sigh, vancouver...too easy to be pleased.

dumb idea bad product. these are touted as "healthy" - they are not healthy in the least. why would you want to buy a healthy donut anyway? they are supposed to be sinful, that is why we like them so much.

i don't see how this will ever become more than a pop-up resto. i'm sure they cannot afford to pay rent for more than a couple of hours a day even though they charge a premium for their underwhelming product.
this will end up in the waste bin with all the other vancouver hippy idea's that will never have a valid business model to sustain them. this is clearly a passion - not a business.

the donuts do not taste healthy (which is agoodthing) and clearly they are not healthy (please see note above). they do not have agoodtexture and all and all the chocolate ones that i tried all tasted the same.

not worth the bother. go to a regular restaurant that doesn't sell out in a couple of hours because why would you bother waiting for these?

prettygooddoughnuts - lots of fun, innovative flavours that aren't simply gimmicky. imo lucky's is the best doughnut shop in vancouver but! lucky's isgoodfor doughnuts that are fruity and have fillings. cartems is reallygoodat getting their dough just right. their dough is more flavourful so if you're not into doughnuts with fillings, this is your place 🍩✨❤

this is really convenient location and i've heard a lot ofgoodthings from people around me. personally, i have been a few times and would definitely suggest this place to the adventurous donut eater. i personally do not like the exotic flavors that they carry and i think that their donuts are a bit on the dry side. but i think that this is honestly because i prefer a very sweet and classic donut (or anything just chocolate).

i’m honestly not a big sweets person but wanted to give this place a shot as reviews weregoodand it was in the area. walking in, it was a chill place and would be great for a coffee date. super nice staff, helped me make my choice which was great! the donut was good! not super sweet, a nice balanced flavour throughout each bite. worth a try.

my best advice is; stop eating so many donuts (ok, we should cut down on animal products and other refined carbs too) but when you do, make sure they are excellent. that's where cartems comes in as they make excellent creative donuts (and their coffee isgoodalso). admittedly, $12.75 for 2 coffees and 2 donuts is not cheap but well worth the occasional indulgence. on a saturday at 10:00 am, my partner and i found about a dozen people waiting outside but counter service was quick and cheerful once we got inside. it's a nice little place with warm brick walls and wood floors and a few wood tables. it is easy on the senses if you sit to enjoy your purchases although a lot of people purchase to go obviously. my partner and i shared a pistachio glazed donut and a fritter. honestly, the fritter made my toes curl up in delight! if you savour one donut and revel in it, you will not need more than one! i think that might be the trick to eating less of not just donuts but everything. take your time. enjoy! we brought a six pack home with us ( for research purposes!) and tried the nutty misu (turns out to be a play on tiramisu) and it also made us utter happy squeals. don't waste your life eating bad donuts from chains. make a pilgrimage to cartems once in a while.

i was so glad to get a chance to try cartems on my last day in vancouver - it had been recommended by so many friends.  i entered on a mid friday afternoon to a few empty tables but in general a really bumping cafe.  they were out of stock of many of their donuts, however i still managed to snag a couple for myself to try.  one donut that i really recommend is their earl grey.  perfect texture and wasn't too messy - it hit the spot.  prices were a bit steep, $7 for 2 donuts.  service was friendly - i needed a recommendation for one of the donuts and got a smile and choice from the lady behind the counter.  yay forgoodcustomer service!  will be back for sure when i'm in vancouver.  all in all, highly recommended.

a donut shop that homer simpson would be proud of - if he was a vegan hipster from vancouver. a little on the more pricey range for a half dozen, but the donuts always taste freshly baked. so trust me when i say that not only are they worth the price and trip to go get them, you're also not going to want to leave with just one donut in hand. the flavour combinations they have are so quirky, your initial thought would be, "does that even work on a donut?" it does. their special donut on this particular visit was a "rootbeer float" flavoured donut (yes, i said that right). i shared this with a friend and we were amazed how they made it taste like you were literally drinking the exact thing! the cakey donut had a hint of the rootbeer essence and little marshmellow toppings tasted like vanilla ice cream on top of the float. i recommend trying the honey parmesan for any sweet and salty lovers, and the london fog stuffie tastes just like my favorite drink from starbucks. the main reason for me to try this place was the curiousity behind the canadian whisky bacon donut .. and man, it was asgoodas i have imagined. agoodbalance with the sweetness of the maple glaze and the saltiness of the little chopped bits of double smoked bacon on top. you can't really taste the whisky aspect of it alcohol-wise, rather, it adds to the sweetness and makes the flavor wholesome.

pictured: triple chocolate threat, salted caramel, london fog, earl grey, honey parmesan, rootbeer float - coconut topping is german cake and pink glaze is strawberry love

reallygooddonuts! we tried the classic which looked and tasted different than regular glazed donut would. their donuts don't taste commercial and you can tell the dough is made from scratch. loved the unique taste of the glaze. service was friendly. a bit pricey though!

awesome donuts (both the gluten free and gluteny varieties!). this place is sogoodthat in the short time i'm spending in vancouver, i've already been here twice. loved the salted caramel. as a celiac, i appreciate the care they take in using separate trays, separate tongs, etc.

picture shows an apple pie donut in the foreground (stuffed with filling!), gf salted caramel in the background.

stumbled upon this spot after i spotted it from my hotel window. the atmosphere is really great and has a nice rustic and homey feel. agoodselection of donuts, but not so many that you feel overwhelmed (maybe 20 varieties). after some deliberation and help from the friendly staff i settled on the smoked walnut donut with a coffee. i think i made the right choice as it was delicious. it was fresh tasting & flavourful and needless to say did not last very long. price is a little hight at $3.25 per donut but if you like donuts it's worth the price!

this is my second visit and the dough is asgoodas i've remembered.... very moist even after sitting on the table for 4 hours. flavour options are unique... we tried the watermelon donut, apricot donut, lemon meringue and london fog donuts. the watermelon and apricot notes were quite subtle, would be better if there were more prominent flavours. the lemon meringue was too sweet... curd was way too sweet that we cannot finish it. meringue was gritty with sugars on our tastebuds. we enjoyed the london fog though, the filling was flavourful and smooth.

donuts here are amazing and quite unique. they got a diverse variety of donuts with incredible flavours like london fog or jade rice pudding. their donuts not only taste amazing, but they look the part too. no wonder this place is so popular, the donuts make your mouth water! the actual store is a very nice inside and the staff there is quite friendly. recommend this place to anyone bored of your regular old donuts and looking for somegoodquality crazy flavours. only downside to this place is the price. 3.50 a donut is decently expensive for a donut, but still its worth to go here every so often for a treat.
