went in on a monday morning around mid day, was offered aplacein some discreet corner where there was one seat and one foot stool despite empty seats. then no one came for the next 15 minutes while they were just in front of us, engaging the other tourists read white folk. we walked off post that, in hindsight great decision - quantities looked really tiny for the price and garbage service.

we got here at 8:30 am. stood in the queue for 45 mins and were let in at 9:15. the food took 40 mins to arrive in batches and we sent most of it back to be fixed somehow. please don’t waste your time here. the staff is arrogant and don’t care if you have a bad experience or for your business. i wouldn’t recommend thisplaceat all.

very rude staff especially one lady there . food was just average . we ordered waffles which was hard , sandwich and crepe was average , lassi was too watery . definitely an overhypedplace.

thisplaceis so instagram friendly. theplacesituated in white town gives you a nice french vibe. the owner was friendly enough to let us explore the entire place. they even had a clothes store inside the cafe. you can just sit here sipping a cup of tea with a book in your other hand. coming to the food it tastes really good priced rightly. we really liked their masala tea. it had herbs in it which made it more refreshing.

thisplacewas my on bucket list since i started to planning pondicherry trip! i have taken the breakfast buffet.
however, honestly, i want to say that the food is definitely good so that the ambiance too. but, personally i felt the cafe is overrated. i will say, if you only coming here for uploading pics for insta, then theplacewill be in ur list. i will definitely recommend it. but, there are so many places also present in this city where you find good food in affordable price. thisplaceis little pricey.

this has to be one of the most overhyped cafes in all of pondicherry and honestly speaking it was worth the hype

on my recent visit to pondicherry i visited various cafes but this one provides good food within a good budget comparatively

thisplaceis usually crowded on weekends and to my suprise it wasn't crowded on a sunday saturday afternoon which is quite shocking

we ordered some croques which is a toasted sandwich filled with veggies and chicken. it was filling and honestly worth every penny

also ordered a freshly baked waffle which was good too

the cafe also has some merchandise which are for sale to the customers

serving tapeworm infested salad with a side of attitude. perhaps the most disappointing eating experience that’ve had around the world. we ordered a caesar salad for our child, which at first looked lovely but a few bite in and thankfully my wife spots a live tapeworm. but that was nothing compared to the manager’s sarcastic attitude. after finding the tapeworm we promptly sent it back. few minutes later the manager comes out passing a weird comment “oh looks like you guys found a little friend” and that they’ve cancelled the order. perplexed at her reaction of trying to down play the whole thing, we remind her about how dangerous it it specially if a child would have had it. she makes it worse, telling us how they serve ‘organic produce’ which can have such infestations. having had organic produce from all around the world i can tell you no cafe would ever say that. in fact anywhere outside india, a cafe would have been served with a big fat legal notice.

it does not end there. few minutes later she comes out with the bill, trying to make it sound as if she has done us a massive favour or not adding the salad in our final bill.

again shocked by her reaction and attitude, we pay the bill first and ask her to connect us with the owner or whoever is her boss. she blatantly refuses and keeps pushing us to let it go as she is the general manager and there is no one above her.

finally we get an email id of the owner, only with a snarky comment that she did everything that was right and does not believe that anything like this puts the health of guests in danger. simply because she and the staff eat there everyday.

so if we have it her way, it’s absolutely fine eating worm infested “organic produce” simply because she eats at the cafe everyday and nothing has ever happened.

name aplacein the world where something like would be okay. where a guest would treated like this after something that’s a genuine health hazard. we understand that a mistake can be made. that leafy vegetables run the risk of something like this. but a nonchalant, sarcastic attitude towards the problem is where it makes things impossible to ignore.

so, either skip thisplaceor check your salad before you eat cause the manager can’t check her attitude.

worms in caesar salad

we ordered a caesar salad and there were live worms in the salad.

when i confronted the manager, she smiled and said ‘i heard you found a little friend in the salad’
as per her, this was no big deal.

this manager lady named adele de ( i may not have captured her name accurately) was brazenly rude and very shamelessly said to us that we can post this on social media if you want.

we had a toddler with us and i am never visiting thisplaceagain.

the food was below average and with this management, this was my first and last visit to it.

we visited on a sunday morning at 9am for breakfast. it got us good 15mins to get the table. the good part, they were checking in if guests are double vaccinated or not. it was a new years so many tourists were found at pondi. so checking was a good idea.
the ambience is lovely. the decor and the vibe of theplaceis cozy.
the service, way too slow.
the french woman and the local guy who host/ manage the cafe were not so warm ( maybe one of those days :) )
the food was strictly ok ( as opposed to the hype around for this cafe)
the outdoor is quite popular for the photo op and i believe so is the indoor.

last word. it’s ok, if you skip thisplacefor food.

avoid thisplaceat any cost. just over hiped place. they served us cold food and had to get reheated.

i went to the cafe for my breakfast but had to wait for an hour to get a table and the host did not even offered any seats while we all waited in the scorching heat and no one wrote down any names for speedy service whoever shows at the door will get the table. terrible service, would not recommend such aplacewhere there is a lack of basic courtesy and etiquette.

i visited cafe des arts a few years back. it is so great to see that the cafe has retained the quality that i so fondly remember. we had some sandwiches(monsieur and chicken) and crepes. both of which were awesome. crepes are a must have here. the ambience of the cafe induces a serenity, it is so chic and pretty. the prices are reasonable and portion sizes are more than sufficient. i will recommend 100% visit theplacewhile you are in pondicherry

it's hypedplacein pondicherry, just click picture outside the cafe & move out. the lady is just not bothered if food is served. they lie thatplaceis full to indians and let the foreigners go in. we ordered vegan food yet they added egg to salad. we ordered coffee & now i will hate coffee forever such bad taste thier coffee was. next we had ordered open sandwich and it 1.5 hour in making for 4 pieces. when complained the lady was damn rude. not worth visiting even if i get to eat for free

this one is quite a famous cafe in pondicherry to click some really good pictures. the ambiance of
theplaceis a bit quirky and really good. i was already very full when i visited this place. so, i couldn't
try much. i tried their vegan coconut almond bread and garlic bread. the coconut bread was aptly
sweet. the garlic bread (tartine) was served with mashed potato and some cabbage
pickle and tasted nice. it was a pleasant experience.

waffle with icecream was good. loved the ambience of place. well maintained and cozyplaceto sit, eat, relax and enjoy your food.
