sandwiches, juices, crepes and most of all bacon!! i think this was my best meal at pondicherry. a ricotta overload for sure, the food was delicious. i tried the -
• chicken croquet
• tomato tarrine
• saltedcrepeham and cheese
• bacon
• orange juice, mint and lemon juice
everything was fresh, tender and delicious. the juices were a little disappointing. more water than fruit.
a good meal overall.

follow my food journey on instagram at allthatsheate!!

this definitely is the most instagramable cafe in white town but nothing beyond it.
there's such a hype about it that people line up outside their cafe before it's opens...so whenever you go, you will have to wait for atleast 45mins -1 hour.
we ordered one of their brekkie with juice, crepeand a pot of coffee.

the brekkie
hash brown was more like indian aloo bonda which was cold
egg fry had to be well done, means cooked yolks. the yolks were soft and wiggly.
bread - if i would tried biting and pulling the bread i would have definitely come out with lesser teeth!
sent the plate back as nothing was right, and one toast was half eaten.
the plate came back with the same half eaten toast, one deshaped and one still runny yolk. warm aloo bonda.
picture is of the first plate.

coffee, nothing to rave about this being a french cafe

crepe was a hybrid of dosa, crepeand maybe a pancake in some sticky batter.crepewas thick in the middle and crisp like a dosa on the edges. this we couldn't finish.
i feel with the kind of food and service they provide they are on their prices are on higher side.
i have them an honest feedback and told them the food wasn't good and their reply - ohh is it? and that's about it.

anyway my tip - if you want to just get yourself clicked against the mustard graffiti wall go in the morning around 8 or on tuesday as they are closed and you will have enough time to get the perfect picture and you can easily skip this cafe for better ones in the vicinity.
they check your vaccination certificate, so keep it handy.
would i ever go back? no never, everything was a let down from service, to food.
and i would never put it in my 'not to be missed places in pondy'

the cafe was one of our must visit places in pondy and it did not disappoint.

like a few other places such as coromandel cafe, it is an old villa converted into an eatery. the ambience is very relaxed and we saw a couple of folks sitting with their laptops and a cup of coffee.

we had the waffle with chocolate spread, thecrepewith jam, an orange juice and a cappuccino. the waffle was amazing - very light, fluffy and crispy. it paired well with the chocolate spread. thecrepewas also very good - thin, and soft. the jam was a bit disappointing. would recommend alternate pairings.

it is reasonably priced. on the whole, would definitely recommend.

the legendary café of pondicherry. the most instagrammable café of pondicherry. how could we not go there. on our very first day here, we went there for a lunch.

location : white town

i ordered for a mushroomcrepefor myself which was served with a portion of herbed baby potatoes and lettuce salad. my friend aarti ordered an egg sandwich, which according to her had way too much filling and very little bread. whereas the opposite happened with amod, who had ordered a croque which had more bread to the filling ratio. vishnu had ordered a tomato tartine.

for drinks we called for smoothies, detox juices etc.

for all of the above our bill amount was approx. 2500 rs.

pros – ambiance, food, vibe. its really gorgeous. make sure you click a lot of pictures there.

cons – getting a place can be difficult. service is slow. slightly overpriced.

ttb rating – 4*

well @cafedesarts is a beautiful french bohemian cafe situated in white town pondicherry, the place was aesthetically pleasing with soft tunes playing around in the background.

the menu include's:

1) spicy chickencrepe- rs 310
2) monsieur croques - rs 330

ahh thecrepewas truly amazing and was really flavourful it just wasn't spicy to be honest. but having it was a delight. served alongside diced potatoes and lettuce thiscrepeis a must have here.

having croques after a really long time, this one consisted of bacon, cheddar cheese and bechamel sauce and is served with a side of potatoes and vegetables. taste wise it was pretty good but it turned out to be really dry in the middle.

there more to the food in pondicherry so stay tuned stay hungry 🐼

it's not the first time i've eaten here and the dishes are prepared so as to taste quite authentic. unfortunately the menu presentation has changed and the dessert section of waffles and crepes is absolutely not customer friendly. the menu is not like in the picture herewith anymore. amongst the dishes we enjoyed today, we ordered a maple syrup crepe, which was not 150rs but 120 rs for 1 crepe+ 120rs for just about 2 small table spoons for maple syrup or less, that's a total of 240rs for a maple syrup crepe. while i know good maple syrup isn't cheap, my friend and i were very unhappily surprised with these charges, especially because while reading the menu you only read the 120 rs listed next to the maple syrup while the 120 rs for thecrepeis listed as a butter crepe, and not a base price in addition to which one has to add the maple syrup prices. very confusing. when sharing this information with the staff he just didn't want to understand that the menu is confusing and that the desserts are written in a very different and incomprehensible format as compared to the rest of the menu where one has no problem understanding what is an additional charge and what is the charge of the base dish. i know this review is very likely confusing and incomprehensive, just like the dessert section of the menu card unfortunately.

honestly, i was expecting a much better food from this place since it looked really nice and it has a very nice vibe. however, it didn't turn out to be that good. we had ratatouillecrepeand tomato tartine in savoury items. both these items were very average. we saw that masala chai is one of the things that people order a lot, so we ordered that. while it wasn't bad, we have had much better masala chai at other places. lastly, we had banana and nutellacrepewhich was really really good. ambience was really good and service was also good considering how packed this place was.

cafe des arts is the most famous cafe of pondicherry. your visit is considered incomplete if you don’t post your photo with yellow wall on insta/fb. :p
coming to food, i tried tomato & cheesecrepeand banana lassi. both were just fine, not very great. some items were not available during my visit.
outdoor sitting is perfect, it is very difficult to get seat during lunch timings (1-2) and evening. i would give 3 star for food and 5 star for ambience and french feel.

its not just about food but the ambience. liked thecrepeand fresh juices. but waffle was okaish.

the yellow wall art is definitely instaworthy.

outdoor seating is perfect for good weather and indoor seating is comfortable for sunny days.

a very well decorated place, well lit and excellent ambiance. but the quality of food is lost knee deep in all the glitz and glamour. ordered a baconcrepe& and cordon blue croquet. despite being almost empty and no rush, the food came cold, even the pot of tea was almost cold. both the dishes seemed cooked by someone who definitely doesn't have expertise in these. quantity was enough perhaps, tasted too bad anyway for either of us to finish it. having travelled around the world, i can safely say, this r definitely not the true versions of the dishes and not worth the price tag.
