i love you cactus. my wife and i were actually headed back to cafe harleqiun in kirkland one night last spring, but alas the beautiful but always seeminly empty restaurant had since shut down. while it was not really a surprise, we sure do miss it. on our way back to the car we walked by twomexicanrestaurants. one had no wait and about 12 open tables, one had one table in the bar and a 20 minute wait in the dining room. no brainer right, we stole the table at the bar and had one of the best nights out all year. i started with an iced tea, and while you might say all restaurant iced tea is the same, you are wrong. its some kind of tropical passion fruit delicious. the attitude of everyone from hostess to bartender to john (yeah, we were on a first name basis with our chips and salsa guy) were top notch. the food is a wonderful combination of local, mexicanand southwestern. try the stuffed jalapenoes, but make sure youve got a couple glasses of water before you dive in. the tostadas on the indian fry bread are absolutely amazing as was the rest of the meal. and its been the same every time. they don't skip a beat at cactus. rip cafe harleqiun but long live the cactus!
