definitely my favorite spot for dessert in town, though i not a big fan of desserts. their dishes are quite creative. i ordered the waffle covered with two scoops of double colored fudge and whipped cream. the dish also includes one cup of chocolate beards and one cup of liquid chocolate. everything except the waffle is so sweet that it almost hurts my teeth as you know i'm a bit afraid of sweet stuff, nevertheless it's quite a treat once in a while.

absolutely loved every single sweet dish: strawberry cheesecake crepe, choco-nut waffle and the volcano brownie. huge servings of delicious chocolate/ cheese goodness - would definitely return for more. wasn't a big fan of the savoury egg crepe which tasted like an asian paratha to us 😅 dark hot chocolate was too bitter for us too but that was on us for making the wrong choice.

walking downtown i had often passed in front of the restaurant, but lately as i was walking on mont-royal i saw that they had open another location and decided to try it. the restaurant is called cacao 70 and after some research i found out they had 3 locations on the island of montreal. if you look at the pictures on different social media sites you will see lots of chocolate everywhere as the name would suggest, it would be only normal.

good place for breakfast, i was not sure what to expect since the picture i had seen pretty much all involved chocolate. they do have a lot of dishes that involved chocolate so if you're a fan you will be pleased but they also have some other choices. i had the breakfast basket with bacon wrapped eggs, served with fruits and beans. food and coffee were both very good.

one of the best places for a dessert-fix. it is so conveniently located in downtown montreal, not to mention the cozy decor. they have some hearty brunch options too. but i like their desserts a bit more.

i have tried their 'make your own parfait' and it was ...perfect!

sometimes it can get a little crowded and it kind of negatively impacts the dining experience by ruining the atmosphere. but overall, it's a good place.

i can take or leave the rest of their menu, but they do chocolate well.

the cocoa selection is very extensive and you're sure to get your fix.  i appreciate that they haven't succumbed to the tactics employed by other populist chocolatiers who water down or aromatize their staple offerings.

cacao 70 is my go-to place for a delicious sunday brunch or a late night craving. the relaxed atmosphere is the perfect spot for a casual date or a meetup with friends. the food is always on point and so is the service! my personal favorite is the "brunch du paresseux" (lazy breakfast) consisting of eggs, bacon, sausages, potatoes and beans served in a hot pan - you'll for sure feel lazy after eating it! overall, i totally recommend this restaurant.

awesome place for the chocolate 🍫 aficionado! the chocolate is made specifically for them by a subcontractor, to their specifications, as i understood, and i must say it is rich and tasty. but i'll be honest, i found my plate had plenty of chocolate (good) but the crepes were too small and left me wishing for more. prices are high-ish but that's understandable, as the cost of cocoa keeps on rising, and most of the recipes here need a lot of manipulation to be made correctly (labor intensive = 💵 💵 💵).

as most dessert places are pricey, i came to expect this from cacao 70. my boyfriend and i ordered the 'make your own parfait' dish, and it came with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, strawberries, nuts, chocolate, brownie crumbles, crackers and melted chocolate. we thoroughly enjoyed the variety of ingredients, and it made me feel like a little child playing with all these components. we would have liked to have more ice cream, because it wasn't really a parfait (ratio of ice cream to ingredient toppings). for the price, i wouldn't order it again, but it was fun!

i went with a group of friends. we found it overpriced and a bit underwhelming, since we were expecting to bathe in chocolate. the raspberry chocolate smoothie was great, but the crepes were a pretty standard affair.

bad service, good chocolate. we waited 20 minutes for a table since we had a party of 3 and the tables where saved for parties of 2 or 4 (these tables never filled up the entire time we where there!). we complained about this, but in this case the possibility of making more money was what they wanted over good service. we had to return 2 hot chocolates since they where cold. not a good experience and quite pricey.

impossible seating for 5. went to cacao 70 at around 10h30 on a sunday, the place was full but we were the first in line (group of 5). waitress told us to wait, and waited and waited, more people came behind us (groups of 2 and 3) and the waitress sat them right away. a table of 4 was free right in front of us but the she refused to sit us there when there was clearly enough space. we asked to be broken up in 2 and 3 to sit faster and she denied us when plenty of other small groups had gone in front of us. after almost an hour wait we left, frustrated at the place.

nope. i stopped by on a chilly weekend afternoon to enjoy a hot chocolate. the place was packed with downtowners in their early 20s, pretty much like the staff. i ordered a spicy cacao 70 which was described as "paprika, curry, cardamom and espelette". as soon as i tasted it i realized there was a mistake. the 10$ cup of hot chocolate tasted like a regular 6$ hot chocolate. no spices detected. the waitress was nowhere to be seen so i drank half of it anyway. i went to the counter to pay. i told my waitress that i had not received the beverage that i ordered. either she thought i had no knowledge of what spices taste like, or she thought i was cheap, but in any case she was arrogant and didn't believe me. she asked me if i drank it, i said i finished half of it since she wasn't around, so i expected her to charge me a regular hot chocolate. to my amazement, she actually went to my table, brought over my half-empty cup, and took a spoonful to taste!!! she hesitated and said yep, i think they put too much base but we can still taste a bit of spice. i couldn't believe this!!!! since this person was unable to manage the situation properly i paid 10$ plus taxes and tip and told myself this place would never see me again.
