burgundy lion

i went to the burgundy lion and left at home. though i cannot speak for the food i can for the bar. as someone who works at a bar i will speak for the bar. i loved the service for starters, our bar tender was busy but talkative and attentive. the best part of going to a bar is having an interesting server. she let us try this interesting shot, there was espresso in it. also my gin tonic were perfect, not that one can actually screw up a gin tonic that badly but she really did a good job with it. the decor is also nice and young to say the least. kind of hipster type of feel with the people and the decor. recommended!

even if the kitchen is quite good i go there mainly for beers with friends.... the place is nice and the interior terrasse during summer is fun

très beau pub british. bon choix de bières et de bouffe: fish ‘n’ chips pas mal bon, sans parler de la poutine et des burgers! l’atmosphère est beaucoup plus de bar que de restaurant.  il y a un bar où on peut s’asseoir juste pour prendre une bière. c’est un bon endroit pour commencer ou finir une soirée. moins idéal pour les dates je dirais, mais bien plaisant en gang. l’été, il y a même une terrasse à l’avant. prise sur le site web officiel mon plat préféré est la salade cambridgeshire, contrairement à mon habitude de burger. il y a du bleu dedans, mais je demande toujours de changer pour du cheddar.   bonne place pour souper et ensuite rester prendre quelques bières. c’est un des spots les plus intéressants de la rue notre-dame. il y a même des matchs de rugby à la télé. burgundy lion sur urban spoon :

only had the burger.... and love it. my friends have had other items on the menu and they've been 'ok'. according to them, the deep fried rabbit is not that impressive but the mac'n'cheese is delicious. for me, i'm a loyal fan of their burger... and have never really had much else here. a big juicy piece of angus beef topped with a fresh slice of pickle can never go wrong for me. accompanied with an ice cold beer and you're off to a great night :)

good & bad. the good:

the fish & chips are fantastic, the beer is good, and the scotch list is extensive.
the atmosphere is great and everyone there is enjoying themselves.

the bad:

it can get really loud in there, hard to talk to people at your own table. the floor manager (or owner not sure who he is) treats this place like a club, he takes a look at your before deciding where to place you. they need to be much nicer when u first walk in the door and stop acting like your tables are reserved cuz we know they ain't!!

very trendy. if you want to be a part of the trendy scene chasing crowd and surrounded by blazers and tight clothes this is your spot. as for the actual business of being a restaurant... verrrrrry average and pricey.

l'arrogance des serveuses est palpable. malgré la bouffe anglaise authentique je ne suis pas capable d'encourager le monde de visiter ce restaurant à moins qu'ils cherchent à se faire insulter.

slow service and unfriendly

good spot in little burgundy. this trendy english pub in one of my faves in the point saint charles - little burgundy area of town. they have a reasonable selection of cold beer. i quite like the bier brier which i was told is brewed close by in st henri.
the staff are friendly and the food is good although they could expand their menu a bit i think.
can't go wrong with the fish and chips. there are plenty of restaurants that screw up this meal, too much batter, too much oil but, they do a good job.
i have eaten at the bar and at table.
can't go too wrong. the only drawback is that it can be a bit noisy.

beau pub anglais !. on se croirait à londres pour ce qui est de la décoration et de l'ambiance, la bouffe est bonne ainsi que la bière. le menu à l'air varié. y'a une terrasse sur la rue notre-dame. un des endroits les plus en vogue dans la petite-bourgogne. j'y retournerais pour sûr !

burgundy lion pub is a trendy spot that serves english pub food in a fun, busy, loud pub atmosphere. they have a little bit of everything but sticking to what is "british" is always a safe bet. bangers and mash, sausage and mashed potatoes with a gravy or spicy fish cakes with a mild curry dipping sauce. on my last visit,

for something different.... went there today with bunch of friends, personally never had an "english" breakfast so no comparison to stand at. he place had a pub-ish/hip atmosphere and was crowded.
food: there are a few brunch & lunch choices on the menu for the time we went. we all ordered a brunch item. so seems like none of us are a fan of blood pudding~ but everything else was pretty good, not extraordinary but decent.
service: good, even though we monopolised the table for a long time while waiting for other ppl, we never felt pressured to order or chased when we finished. the waiters also came often to check on us. only a little downside, why bring water to all the ppl at the table except one person? who does that?
price: reasonable to the proportion of the dishes i find.
overall: good place to hang out and not afraid to be too noisy, the food is ok but for brunch i would rather go to somewhere else.

poor quality. i am from out of town and have been here before. this place used to be a fun place to hang out but it has gone downhill. food is overpriced and beer is ordinary at best. nothing worse than being treated like a bum, waiting for 2nd rate food. very noisy too which added to the frustration - i just wanted to settle my bill and leave before having one big headache. place looks better suited to teenagers who can have their first drink. vibe and service is better in the new bar one street over, even though it has a silly name.

very average!. food is really average here, don't expect a memorable dinner. for example, the fish & chips is as good as the traditional belle province diner chain next door. regular selection of drinks that you find in an "irish like" pub. staff is generally neutral, disorganized often and you need to expect some favoritism if you are not a regular customer; they serve "their people" first and you need to raise your hand few times to get their attention. gave them a 3rd chance and gave-up... not worth it!
