d went out with friends the other night! d always wanted to try burgundy lion for a british meal. it was a great experience! the scotch egg was tasty but only with the sauce. the sausages were delicious but missing juice. the mocktail was done to perfection but not well mixed so the worcester sauce was only on the top... the ambiance was good, cozy but hot! d will wear something lighter at the next visit :p

came for a birthday. unfortunate because the dj was incredibly rude and the place was half empty before 2. for mtl. that's terrible. regretted choices. bad music.

i've never been disappointed but also have never been especially pleased after an outing at the burgundy lion. it has 1/2 the charm of any of the ye olde orchard locations but seems to be twice the price. i'll stop in for a drink after a show at the corona theatre, but certainly wouldn't go out of my way for this place. i'd call it nothing special, if not overrated.

british pub food. not really sure what the rave is about.walked in with no reservation thinking it was a bar-ish place, waited almost an hour before being seated.

the sunday roast was average, as was the service.

this pub, being a 10 minute walk from my place was on my must eat list, but after 1 year and a half of living in close proximity, i still hadn't gone. damn it! so, a couple weekends ago, it was time. i mean, when i go out to drink in my neighborhood, it's either there or at la drinkerie but this is brunch we're talking about. brunch people! english brunch :)

food is great and very inexpensive for the quality and portions. i find this place is too often forgotten for food and more referred to as a pub to catch a drink. one of my favourite is the welshman's bride (lamb shank)

nice place, good drinks but be careful what you order on the food menu. the place is very fun, laid back vibe and waiters are nice, but the food is bad, especially for the price you pay. most of the choices on the menu are prepared with very little care and taste like frozen microwave dishes. today i tried their tomato soup as an appetizer (7$). i dont expect tomato soup to be exceptionnal, and i wouldve been happy with the regular campbell tomato soup, but what i got was insulting: primo spaghetti sauce. yes, i got tomato spaghetti sauce to eat with the spoon, for 7$. i made my friends taste it as well and they all agreed it was the primo spaghetti sauce we all know you get at the grocery. when i told the waitress about it, she told me i was entirely wrong and that "everything is home made". i highly doubt it. my friend also didnt enjoy his fish & chips. there is barely any fish!

laid back pub with quality (said with ali g accent)food. place is huge, probably a great pub to watch sporting events as they had a lot of tvs. ththey serve very traditional pub food. e service was a wee bit slow but they were also pretty busy however it was quite clean. the portions are huge so be careful if your eyes are bigger than your stomach. that said everything was tasty. we had tomato soup, cod cakes and their house crisps (dont forget the malt vinegar)...yum, yum!

burgundy lion is a well known pub on notre dame, the famous street that is the home of joe beef. this pub has high ratings in most restaurant review websites and their food was good, so no surprise there. one of my friends was happy to find out that they had the largest whiskey collection in quebec and ordered a tasting set which comes with three different glasses of selected whiskey. he threw fancy descriptions to each cup like “woody” “smokey” “creamy” “fruity” “dry” but to my nose it was rubbing alcohol and it did it’s job lol. i’m happy as long as it comes with that second quality. speaking of alcohol… happy new year it is now 2014 aaand life does not seem any better. but we made it this far so props to you all. classic nye tales that you’ll easily hear anywhere. but i drank so much out of poor judgement skills that followed the first four cups of whiskey and two bottles of beer… and now i’m gagging just at the thought of alcohol. never again am i drinking that much. like night and day!. this place can be great but can also be a terrible experience. every time im there during the day or during quieter nights i have an amazing time-great food and top service. but night can be a totally different experience. the mean male italian manager should be fired... he is rude not only to the people waiting to be seated but also yells at his employees! totally unprofessional.
worth checking out, but if you end up there on a night this man is working, run!

overall good but.... i recently went there for breakfast and the food was great. i like how you can get crumpets instead of boring toast, and their marmalade is fantastic. the service was good too. i wish coffee was included ($2.50 for average filtered coffee is a bit much). you might as well get an espresso at that point. also, on the menu it says ``fresh orange juice` but i saw them pouring orange juice from what seemed to be a store bought jug behind the bar. i hope people enjoyed their $3.50 glass of tropicana or whatever it was! still, it is a good place. i would go there once in a while since they serve things other breakfast places don`t.

...i thought i would share with you, a restaurant in my new neighborhood: burgundy lion. it’s not exactly a new find. i’ve been going there for quite a while, but i’m never disappointed. burgundy lion is a british pub serving up pub-style english fare. you can be sure to find all the soccer football games (hockey too!) playing on their televisions. i’ve been told it’s also a great atmosphere for drinks at night. on this particular occasion, however, i went for lunch with alex when we were apartment hunting. for drinks, alex ordered the burgundy lion ale , their house brew, and i o

diva #1 went to high school with a group of pretty amazing guys that now, long after graduation, she still loves to go out with. when we were in high school no sweet 16 was complete without them, in cegep they made clubbing fun, in university house parties weren’t complete without their insanity and now they make any restaurant or bar night a great goddamn time. conflicting schedules make getting jb and the boys a little hard to get together but diva #1 loves bringing the gang together for good times, a lot of drinking and trips down memory lane. a late celebration of jb’s birthday brought us to burgundy lion, a british pub on notre dame in griffintown.  besides being a restaurant, it has a full bar including whiskey blends, highlands, a whiskey tasting menu and of course the usual variety of cocktails, wines and champagne.
