burger heaven

heaven can wait. large pub styled burgers ranging from the basic, for $11 to $16, through to the ridiculous with eight patties at $29. we came with a buy one get one free (up to a $10 value) coupon widely available in the new west recorder (hence the 4 rating). i had the breakfast burger topped with a fried egg and paid $2 more for onion rings and wondered if the waitress ate half of them while walking it over to our table. the beef had an off taste which reminded me of frozen meat thawed quickly in a microwave. there was also an unpleasant taste to the fixings but i couldn't quite pinpoint it. perhaps it was just an off day. i loved the decor with old photos of patrons from years past with their mullets, beach-themed tees, unironic moustaches and aviator sunglasses plastered all over the walls and under the glass top of tables. the waitress was part of this local institution and seemed to know everyone, including those in our party. enjoyed the sincere, relaxed interaction.

it's been waaay too long…well over ten years now since i've paid a visit to burger heaven . strange, really, considering that they're just down the hill. maybe i've developed some sort of food-phobia of new westminster. whenever i think of some place to

fantastic!. the best burger in vancouver, at least of the dozen or more serious burger joints i have tried. this visit i ordered the works burger and i was seriously stuffed. incredible taste, lots of toppings, and no skimping on the fries. i know wedge fries are not everyone's favorite, but theirs are so good! we will back again and again...and again!

burger heaven. i had the bbq bacon cheddar burger.
maybe it was the bbq sauce, i couldn't really tell if the patty was good or not. the burger was good overall.

i didnt like the potato wedges, i guess i am more of a crispy fries kinda guy.

two of us dined at burger heaven tonight. it was my first and last time. i found the bun to be soggy and the meat was flavourless. the potato wedges were just so, so. we ordered the deep fried stuffed jalpeno peppers for an entree. we got six small ones for $8.99. not impressed at all. to top everything else the peppers were bland. this is one of the most disappointing dining experiences i have ever had.

let's face it. when it comes to food in metro vancouver, new westminster is not in anybody's picture. in fact, other than kirin (in starlight casino), there isn't any "big name" restaurants there. and that

best burgers in the lower mainland. they have been around for years but they are still the best. better than vera's better than moderne burger. worth driving to new west for.
