burger heaven

burger heavan is a specialty burger joint located in new westminster. everything from the outside to the inside of the restaurant screams old school diner. they have old pictures and newspaper clippings frombackin the day and provides a very unique feel to the restaurant. 

there is a side parking lot for about 4 cars where you can park for free but chances are they'll be taken. you'll likely be able to park right in front of the restaurant with a paid parking stall. the rates aren't too bad at $1.75/hr. 

we arrived on a sunday night at around 6:30pm. it was a busy hour so that wait was about 15 mins. the restaurant itself is quite tiny. it will seat around 30 people with patio seating extending that to about 40 people. we had a quick look of their menus and decided to order "the works" and their special "jacked up grilled cheese".

the works comes with cheddar, mozzarella, bacon, mushrooms, red onions, and pickles. you also get your choice of a side - either wedged fries or salad. we went with the wedged fries. you had the option to choose between white or multigrain bread for the buns - we opted for the multigrain. the burger itself came out beautifully. it was big and packed a tasty punch. when you bit into it, the juices would just flow out leaving you with a messy hand. everything tasted great and worked well together - the ingredients tasted fresh and you could distinctly tell what was it in. 

the jacked up grilled cheese was their special during our visit. it was your typical grilled cheese sandwich with the addition of smoked meat, caramelized onions and a spread of sweet jam. we noticed a hint of bbq sauce on here as well. this normally came with soup and your choice of salad or wedge fries but because they did not have soup, they offered both the salad and wedge fries. there was the option of a garden salad or caesar salad - we opted for the caesar salad. we did not know it at the time but the caesar salad has an additional cost to swap it out. this was noted on the menu but we neglected to see it since we weren't expecting to order a salad. this one was a bit of a disappointment. we were really expecting the grilled cheese to come through but it was just so over powered by everything else. it tasted good but isn't really a grilled cheese but more of a deli sandwich. 

the service was good and the food came out promptly. we had the remind our server about our order of fries (because soup wasn't available) and it was quickly brought to us. 

this experience was a bit of a hit and miss. they did some things really right and some things not so right. overall, we thought it was a great burger joint and just that. we would recommend staying their burgers options instead of other options on the menu. if you're looking for a good burger joint, you've found one in burger heaven.

first time at burger heaven. there milkshakes was very impressive. ordered bacon cheddar cheese burger with wedges. very filling. very small place and felt too close to other guest. no privacy. decor needs updating. staff are friendly. had better burgers else where. it's not bad. might gobackagain in near future.

i wanted to go to burger heaven with was finally in town so we could go.  the waitress was really nice and it seems like she was managing the entire service area so she was constantly goingbackand forth. for that reason, i had no problem with  the amount and quality of service she provided us under those circumstances.  i ordered the works burger. when it was delivered to me, i couldn’t wait to jump in. this was not a good idea. the burger just came off the grill and the fresh patty needed to sit for a few minutes so the juices gobackinto the meat. after waiting a few minutes, i resumed eating and it was delicious!  this is a classic homemade burger done well. the lettuce and tomatoes didn’t do anything for the burger but the pickles, bacon, mushrooms, cheese, and patty were delicious!  the potato wedges also came out of the fryer. crunchy on the outside and soft/fluffy in the inside.  overall, i would definitely gobackif i had a burger craving because they did a good job and everything about it works.  the only thing i did not like was that my friend made his own burger and with the additional toppings it was more expensive than my burger but they only took 50% off the base price of the make-your-own burger price rather than the price of the entire burger.  # burger american canadian vancouver new westminster delicious beef bacon mushroom pickle tomato lettuce bun sesame potato wedges posted 1 hour ago simple roasted asian yams there was a week a whilebackwhere i saw asian yams (organic) on sale: a whole bag of them. it sparked my curiosity to see if i could find an optimal baking temperature since i could definitely try a few times.  after a lot of experimenting, i got the best results using the following recipe! you will need: yams, washed

feeling very dissapointed!!. well we've been going to burger heaven for about 13 years and we've always loved the atmosphere and food. lately it has gone down hill though. we go a few times a month and the last few times we've been in the food has been either over cooked, under cooked or just completely wrong. we see some new servers and maybe they aren't being trained properly because we observed the servers bringing the wrong food to 3 of the wrong tables on our last visit and the severs overall just seemed a bit confused. the service and wait times used to be amazing and on our last visit it took 15mins before our order was taken and then another 30 mins until we got our food. also on our last visit my friends breaded chicken burger was still raw in the middle and the server said it was just a vain and it was fine (since when was raw chicken fine to eat) but then we overheard her telling the kitchen to learn how to cook chicken and someone responded don't tell me how to do my job. also the music from the kitchen was louder than the music playing in the restaurant. also we've noticed that you guys are posting way more on facebook which is good but sometimes it is to much. i have been feeling a little overwhelmed with the amount of things you are posting on facebook on a daily and weekly basis as it is taking over my news feed and i am noticing that a lot of the pictures being posted are not of your own food but actually of pictures of the internet. either way we will being taking a few months off of burger heaven in the hopes that when and if we return your food and service isbackto the great quality it was before. i would not suggest burger heaven to anyone at this point.

  remember i told you guys i was craving burgers yesterday? welll, today i made the trip out to burger heaven to sastisfy that craving tehe! burger heaven is located in new west, and they're known for their specialty burgers, their thick cut fries, and their mile high burger (which consists of 10 patties stacked on top of each other)! after my food came the guy beside me looked at me and said "you sure you can finish that by yourself?" lol! guess he was pretty impressed when i did, and he told me to take a picture of my empty plate haha! note: today i'm not going to be writing my "overview" section because i'm studying for midterms lol. but after my exams are over on weds, everything will bebackto normal! :) elk burger combo $16 3/5 stars   i was originally going to order their basic #1 burger, but i decided against it because i thought it would be too boring lol!! i am at a place called burger heaven after all, i might as well order something weird! so i decided to get a burger off their specialty menu, their elk burger!    the burger patty was moist, and really thick haha. the sauteed mushrooms packed a ton of flavour, a myraid of sweet, salty, and savoury coming together. the cheese was perfectly melted and covered the entire patty. the bacon pieces were crispy, and not too oily (albeit really salty.) was this worth the $17 that i paid? imo, no lol. it was good, but not $17 good lol! fries fries 3.5/5 stars  salad 3/5 stars   the fries were awesome! thick cut, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, very potatoey. i ended up dipping it in the salad dressing it came with haha! the salad dressing was delish: tangy, sweet, and garlicky! i was happy that my burger came with a side of salad haha, to balance out the meat!

many moons ago, while working in the new west area, i recall co-workers routinely talking about burger heaven. backthen, the stories were invariably the same…

yummmmmmm. ok burger heaven we arebackto getting along. i had lunche today and it was perfectly perfect. i had the elk burger.. our server monique i think her name was... she was on the ball, and had suggested the elk.. great job...

why is that guy yelling?. ido really love this place we are just on bad terms at the moment.

i am a regular at burger heaven. i was in for lunch about 2 weeks ago now. i enter the restaurant and see that they are quite busy. i am seated at a table for two close to where the service staff pick up the meals that are ready. now out of the blue from in the kitchen i hear a man yelling at the top of his lungs.. not a nice kind of yelling, and it goes on and on. i place my order and as i am i hear him yell again - this time someone speaksbackbut not yelling back. i now realize he is yelling at a kitchen member. i find this to be not only demeaning to his employee but also disrespectful to the patron"s in the restaurant and also the restaurant itself. he should be ashamed. i have not been back.

you walk into this joint and it's a stepbackin time. the music is 50's, the pictures that adorn the walls and table tops are clipped right out of their own history and the feeling is like that of a classic burger joint, the way they're meant to be. the staff are friendly and the whole ensemble made for a great atmosphere to devour my burger. full marks on making me remember why i started this quest.

why is this place even still open?. after eating at this place and seeing the reviews, i cant beleive this place is still open. i felt as though i'd walkedbackabout 20 years in time. it was horrific, the decor i mean. the old unfinished cedar paneling on the walls, the pictures on the table from the 80's. the carpet was nearly thread bare. the tables were covered in what appeared to be burn marks or the finish over the photos was starting to decay. it was nasty.
the floor was covered in food and garbage. there were nails sticking out of the wall, over all i felt very uncomfortable sitting there. the only reason why i didnt leave was because my boyfriend wanted to stay and try the food. which was mediocre at best. the patty was dry and over cooked, so where the fries. the pop was flat and watery. overall it was just a bad experience. i do not recommend this place. and i really cannot belieive it is still open. the food is just not good enough to make me want to come back, and the environment is repugnant

burger heaven!!!. currently in my life, i really have no business being in new west on a regular basis but i will keep comingbackfor the very delicious burgers(!).

firstly, please note that i am a vegetarian but i have always loved my burgers here and they have always been very good about swapping out the patty in any burger on the whole wide menu. true winning.

service has always been friendly and though i've never seen the kitchen, what comes out of it is yums.

the fries are wedge-style. pardon me, godzirra-giant-sized wedge-style. "but" very, very good - from a girl who usually loves her fries shoestring-style!

deliciously fresh ingredients and excellently genius menu concoctions.

* trivia: the leading cast members of supernatural have been snapped getting take-out from here (and i'm sure they weren't alone!). good move, boys.

fantastic!. the best burger in vancouver, at least of the dozen or more serious burger joints i have tried. this visit i ordered the works burger and i was seriously stuffed. incredible taste, lots of toppings, and no skimping on the fries. i know wedge fries are not everyone's favorite, but theirs are so good! we willbackagain and again...and again!
