burger heaven

burger heavan is a specialtyburgerjoint located in new westminster. everything from the outside to the inside of the restaurant screams old school diner. they have old pictures and newspaper clippings from back in the day and provides a very unique feel to the restaurant. 

there is a side parking lot for about 4 cars where you can park for free but chances are they'll be taken. you'll likely be able to park right in front of the restaurant with a paid parking stall. the rates aren't too bad at $1.75/hr. 

we arrived on a sunday night at around 6:30pm. it was a busy hour so that wait was about 15 mins. the restaurant itself is quite tiny. it will seat around 30 people with patio seating extending that to about 40 people. we had a quick look of their menus and decided to order "the works" and their special "jacked up grilled cheese".

the works comes with cheddar, mozzarella, bacon, mushrooms, red onions, and pickles. you also get your choice of a side - either wedged fries or salad. we went with the wedged fries. you had the option to choose between white or multigrain bread for the buns - we opted for the multigrain. theburgeritself came out beautifully. it was big and packed a tasty punch. when you bit into it, the juices would just flow out leaving you with a messy hand. everything tasted great and worked well together - the ingredients tasted fresh and you could distinctly tell what was it in. 

the jacked up grilled cheese was their special during our visit. it was your typical grilled cheese sandwich with the addition of smoked meat, caramelized onions and a spread of sweet jam. we noticed a hint of bbq sauce on here as well. this normally came with soup and your choice of salad or wedge fries but because they did not have soup, they offered both the salad and wedge fries. there was the option of a garden salad or caesar salad - we opted for the caesar salad. we did not know it at the time but the caesar salad has an additional cost to swap it out. this was noted on the menu but we neglected to see it since we weren't expecting to order a salad. this one was a bit of a disappointment. we were really expecting the grilled cheese to come through but it was just so over powered by everything else. it tasted good but isn't really a grilled cheese but more of a deli sandwich. 

the service was good and the food came out promptly. we had the remind our server about our order of fries (because soup wasn't available) and it was quickly brought to us. 

this experience was a bit of a hit and miss. they did some things really right and some things not so right. overall, we thought it was a greatburgerjoint and just that. we would recommend staying their burgers options instead of other options on the menu. if you're looking for a goodburgerjoint, you've found one inburgerheaven.

this is another stop along my the way of my reviews of burgers throughout canada.   located at #77 10th street in new westminster, bc  this 1970’s retroburgerjoint boasts a wealth of awesome burgerness. i tried their “the works” burger. this is a magnificentburgerwith a hand crafted patty, real bacon (not the paper thin stuff you get at some locations), cheese, onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce on a delightful bun. it was a  truly heavenly and filling burger.  i selected the homemade wedge cut fries from the availble sides and they were a great addition although you could have  a salad instead if fries do not meet your fancy.

one-liner: a go-toburgerdiner if you’re looking for something exotic
highlight: buffalo burger
recommended for: cravings that a simple hamburger will not settle
would i go back? not for the lamb burger.

the mexican meatlessburgerwas amazing! fries were delicious. service was fast. this place has the feel of a diner.

this place is delicious. the sweet chiliburgerwith peanutbutter and sweet chili sauce is awesome. combining 2 delicious things works perfect

told it was a 15-20 min wait, ended up being 35. unorganized service. food was expensive for anburgerthat's mediocre. good looking restaurant though. nice atmosphere and cool decor.

kind of a let down, definitely don't recommend. had high expectations going in but i was both disappointed with the service and the food.

ordered the lambburgeron a whole grains bun. the pattie was dry and the buns were almost sand paper like. not enough hummus or tzatziki sauce. the beets inside were also super tiny and watery that the juices immediately made a puddle on my plate.
the wedges were a nice alternative to fries but i found that they were very inconsistent in size, some are big and some are tiny dried up wedges.

the server was very friendly but she spend way too long chatting with some of the other tables instead of tending to all her tables. there was no water refill, no checking in to see how we liked the food, and we had waited very long for our bill.

definitely not going back.

twice disappointed. i have tried this place twice and have been seriously disappointed both times. the food is barely passable at best. the potato wedges were inconsistent in size and therefore some were not cooked and some were overcooked. the second time i went i got the pouting which came looking like a bowl of gravy. i had to dig around for the fries and small bits of cheese. it was overly salty and i could not keep eating it after a while. theburgerwas bland and chewy. the "flan" i ordered for dessert was not flan but rather a pecan tart.

i cannot understand why people continue to go here. it isn't cheap and it isn't good. nostalgia is enough for some people i guess.

they have the feel of a beachfront surfer hang out with patio seating and aged seating area. the food i have to say is fantastic. i ordered their hulkburgerwhich has 2 patties bacon and real cheese, it was great.

i will absolutely be returning.

• 30.03.2018 calamari $15: not bad but i feel like the oil was a bit old as i can tell from the colour of the calamari itself; a bit on the pricier side

• this place is a hidden gem in new west
• pay street parking or limited free parking at the back
• it gets really busy here from friday onwards so be early and know what to order beforehand
• watch out for their specials that is listed on the board, all of it are amazing
• well the burgers are juicy, yummy & works well with the other condiments that goes with it
• service is not bad but again they get busy
• the local new west paper has a coupon every now and then which gives you a deal, i think its a freeburgerafter you order your firstburgerwith a drink (pop)
• appox: $15-18 per person

heard great things about this place from friends i decided on trying it out i ordered the buffalo feature with wedge fries and onion rings,theburgerwas kick ass!!! extremely juicy and very delicious.the service was all smiles i would highly recommend this place,please bring your appetite

we were looking for a lunch spot in new westminster, and i remembered that “burger heaven” had an eating challenge (i am slowly working my way through the city’s food challenges that pit your stomach against a large plate, with a limited time to finish it.) theirs was aburgerstacked with beef patties, that i had originally planned to take on; so when looking for a meal today, i decided to suss out the place before hand. and good thing too, as after this visit, i no longer have the will to return for anymore. it was hard for me to finish my oneburgerwith its one patty, let alone many patties in one oversized handful.

overall decentburgerwith a massive portion size. the meat was all cooked but a little on the dry side. the fries were good but far more than i could possibly good to eat on s single sitting. the décor inside is kind of interesting with all the photos.

if you are looking for a solidburgerto fill your appetite, you should go toburgerheaven in new west. sure, there are a lot of greatburgerjoints out there but what makes this place awesome besides its delicious burgers is its cool atmosphere and service. the walls are covered by a ton of photos of customers over the years. you can see some of the photos fading and it’s qute nostalgic, really. i often find myself just staring off into the pictures while i wait for my food to arrive. :)
